This is my third review. I wish I could give 10 stars to Raymond at Clockworld. This true artist and master of clock repair needs to get a national award. Raymond fixed my exquisite 160-year-old tiny carriage French clock (no taller than an index finger inside a leather embossed display case and has a tiny key to wind it) and Raymond thanked ME for giving HIM the chance to work on something "truly beautiful" in his words. Then he fixed my 1980 Rolex watch that had not worked in years. Raymond is kind, humble, and SOOOO expert at fixing any kind of watch or clock. Raymond is the best... I have a fairly extensive collection of high end vintage watches and Raymond does all my cleaning and repairs. He's always fair in price and reasonable in timing. He recently did a phenomenal repair on my 18k solid rose gold Universal Geneve Three Register Chronograph when I lost one of the pushers. He made a special pusher for me in rose gold from scratch.. Raymond is very friendly and does an amazing job. I brought in my newly acquired Junghans Meister Driver handwinder because it was running 15 seconds slow per hour (6 minutes slow a day). It's now running fine at +12 sec/day, and he only charged a fraction of what other watch repair shops quoted me. I inspected the watch when I picked it up and it looked just as new as when I brought it in. They didn't have exactly the band I was looking for, but close enough, and they have an excellent selection of Seiko clocks. One of these days, I'm going to break down and finally buy a clock here. Enough window shopping; enough teasing. Clock World has a great selection, including more than a few antique clocks which fit in with my general aesthetic: well-made, classic, timeless. For whatever reason, I have a bit of a hang up about time. At the moment, none of the vast array of electronic gadgets populating my living room actually displays the time. And, frankly.....it makes me a bit itchy. Same reason I wear a watch everywhere but the shower. [Yes, I wear it to bed. Yes, even then. Yes, I have had complaints.] And I am fully cognizant that it is a bit stereotypical for a lawyer to be obsessed with time. Not only is time how we all measure our lives, in drops of minutes, globs of hours or chunks of days, but time is the measure of the way I sell bits of myself on a daily basis. I highly recommend Clock World. I dropped my Michael Kors watch and the crystal face was ruined. I took it to Macys (where I had bought the watch) and they quoted me $120 to send it in to be fixed! They said it was the most expensive part of the watch to fix. Luckily I called their bluff and phoned around. Clock World was much more reasonably priced and fixed it quickly. I love watches. They're the only acceptable non-clothing item a man should ever put on. (Except for a wedding band or a ring from a damn good college.) Because of my miminalist approach to accessorizing, I own more than a few watches. This also means that I have a lot of watches in need of batteries and repairs. I had let a few timepieces go the way of the dodo bird and decided that they needed to be revived. So, I jumped on Yelp and looked for a place to get two of my favorite but long dormant watches repaired. Everyone loved Clockworld, so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I brought in a watch from my prep school that was not responding to a new battery. I love this watch and being 3,000 miles away from the hallowed halls of the Prep makes it difficult to get a new one, so I needed a miracle worker. Well Raynond is the Ann Sullivan of the time piece world. The Swiss can kiss my butt. I'll take Raymond any day. He had my favorite piece of snob wear fixed in an hour. My Cartier watch suddenly stopped and I first went to Cartier to see how much it'll cost to fix. They quoted me $485 because there's water inside. Then I went to Geneva Watch and they quoted $300 because the watch needs the overhaul (they didn't say anything about water). And finally I went to Clock World and Raymond fixed it for $15. He said it's just a battery. Now my watch is working perfectly. Not to be judgemental to two places I mentioned earlier, but I recommend you to get quotes from multiple places if you need watch repair and add this place one of those options. I'm lucky to find this place. I will stick to this place whenever my watch needs to be fixed. read more

This place is great. The proprietor Raymond is super polite and fast. I went in with my fossil watch to get the metal band resized. This was after going through a whole ordeal with Fossil when they couldn't fix my older watch band that snapped. So they gave me credit towards this watch which was shipped to me with a band that was way too big. Every other time I've taken a fossil watch to be fixed or battery replaced, it's always met with an attitude from fix-it guys or watch shops who either don't want to deal with Fossil's "proprietary" parts, or are generally snobbish towards my sub-$100 watch. Like Disney World, but for timepieces! I went here because of all the glowing reviews, and was not disappointed. I took in four watches, for a variety of issues. A 40-y-o gold Omega wind-up that was running slow, a Pion for a new battery, a brand new Victorinox I wanted to change from a metal to a leather strap (metal straps are too howyousay... "blingy blingy") and my sister's water-damaged bracelet watch. I did not expect every need to be met. They all were. Raymond even bought my metal strap off me. He's a bloody legend. Cute store and repair shop. Raymond was working on another job when I walked in, so there was a little bit of a wait. But I enjoyed perusing the large collection of wall clocks filling the store. The price range was definitely higher (i.e., average seemed to be hundreds of dollars) than what I'm willing to spend on one, but to each their own. There were a few Seiko wall clocks that were under $100 though. After he finished up his last job, I asked if he could take a link out of a wristwatch for me. He worked pretty quickly and handed it back to me within 30 minutes. I put it on to confirm the fit, and he charged me $6. Cool. I wore the new watch for the day and realized it was much too heavy for my princess wrist. I called the company from which I ordered it (MVMT Watches), and they said I'd have to have the link put back in if I wanted a full refund. Their argument was that it was like tailoring a dress and trying to return it. However, unlike a dress, a watch link is easily restored. They weren't convinced by my logical point of view. So I went back to Raymond the next day, and he put the link back in for free. Wow! I was initially pretty mad with the watch company that they were basically saying that I'd have to pay 10% of the watch just to try it on. But Raymond made things a bit better by not charging me twice. I'll be coming back to him when I find a watch that suits my tiny wrists better. read more

My watch battery died and was in need of a quick replacement. This shop, which I found on Yelp, was sort of on my way to work. I was luckily able to find a parking spot close by. I walked in and was greeted and helped right away. He stopped what he was doing just so he could replace my battery in a timely manor. It took maybe all of 5 minutes? He set it all back to the correct time etc and it's working great. It cost $8 to have my battery replaced. I forgot my cash so luckily they take credit cards. And I didn't get any flack for using my card either. He was just happy to have my business. I'm very happy with the service I received, the cost, and the expediency. I've gone to this place for about 3 years now and it's the only place I'll go to get my watches fixed or battery replaced. They are very, very reasonably priced and they have a very quick turnaround time. The one concern I have when I take my watches to get the batteries replaced (I have 3 designer watches) is that they don't keep the backing of the watch and replace it with something else. Not here. They keep everything intact and the batteries last a long time. I have 3 designer watches and completely trust this place to fix them every single time. I won't go anywhere else. read more

After reading Yelp's glowing reviews of Clock World, I decided to take my bf's watch in to get a new battery and crystal. FYI, Raymond also provides watch cleaning and polishing services! He had my bf's watch looking almost like new! Considering my bf's had the watch for maybe 10 years, and he's treated it pretty roughly (hence the need for a new crystal), that's pretty good! Oh and Raymond expedited the work by a day because I told him it was urgent. What a nice guy!! He is soooo adorably bashful, and he actually wears those magnifying goggles on his head all the time (it's not just a prop for pictures)! He reminds of the old-fashioned clockmakers of yore. Once you meet him, you can't help but want to give him your business! So I went back and had him fix the clasp on my watch too. Only $7! But Raymond's not just a super nice guy who charges pennies compared to other watch repairmen. His knowledge of clocks is top-notch, and his work is very professional. Nice man, this watch repairman, and never an over-charger. Does timely work, too. Very reasonably priced. He locks his door sometimes, however, when the sign clearly says "Open" and you are stuck there within the clear and appropriate hours of business, and he doesn't answer when you knock. Did my research on Yelp and chose this place due to the stellar reviews. Took my $5000 Tag Heuer Carerra caliber 16 watch to be repaired. The auto wind function was sticking and making odd noises due to it being dropped. Was nervous at first because I wasn't sure if he could fix a watch with this complexity. He took a good look at it and called me back the next day and said it was repairable and could keep all original parts. I was stoked. 3 days later my watch was repaired and running better than new. Price was more than fair and I am very happy to get my watch back. I give my highest recommendation to Raymond. No job is too hard for this guy. Highly recommend Clock World for Rado watch battery replacement. It is a small local repair place filled with clocks of all kinds ticking away quietly. This is clearly a man who knows timepieces and is surrounded and immersed in them. The proprietor had a new battery in place in four minutes flat, no wait time. The cost was extremely reasonable and it is clear he knows what he is doing. I have been charged some crazy prices at other places in the city for battery replacement on the same watch. Not every place can do the slim Rado watches. It requires a special tool and some experience to get the back off without damaging the crystal on front. He deserves your business! Instead, I can trundle down the road to Clock World and get my watch battery replaced for $8 :) It's one of those small random places that you would just never know about. I have gotten batteries, bands here before and agree with all the positive reviews. I also brought in a 200 year old French mantle clock that hadn't worked in who knows how long. He fixed it using as many of the original workings as possible, cleaned, repaired and replaced what was needed- some folks just pull out the internal works and replace it with a new one- and it now keeps perfect time, chimes beautifully and will remain a working family heirloom.
