It began with a old Accutron that wouldn't stay running. We tried a new battery, but it only ran for a short time. It belongs to my friend, Ed, in a senior care facility. He is very attached to it and was sad because he though it couldn't be fixed. Since it is a very "out of time" watch (they don't make 'em like they used to). Requests for repairs that I made at other shops refused to even consider a repair or quoted impossible budgets prices, $600-$1000, and months to wait, if I even wanted to risk it as they may not be successful. Tzipi at A&E, exhibiting years of expertise and confidence in her knowledge spent a lot of gentle time with me evaluating the possible repair scenarios, showed me parts from other "deceased" Accutrons, explaining what we were up against, in order for me to understand the task and then assured me that, even though, yes, it would be complex, she felt she could do the job and bring the classic back to life. I learned a lot, too. Accutrons run from two power sources, half from the battery and half from the movement of the watch that powers the coils to created power. Very ingenious of Bulova. It allowed the Accurton to run for much longer than just using the battery. Her offer to clean, adjust, replace coils, balance the workings, etc. left me feeling optimistic. Today I picked it up after only about 3 weeks, just as she had said. It was humming along and looked as new as those Rolexes in her cabinet and the price: $300. I took it to Ed and that 88 year old man teared up and it seemed as though he had found a old friend he had lost. The effort Tzipi gave and the courteous, kind, and quality repair, left someone very happy when his caregiver strapped it back on his wrist. I brought in my grandfathers 70 year old antique watch, thinking I would need to replace a bunch of stuff and Tzipi shared with me how the watch works, what sort of things would be worth opening the watch for and not! I'm so thankful for their hard work and diligence in helping fix my watch Let me tell you my story - I inherited my mom's Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch when she passed away in 2014. She wore it almost daily and the elegant yet simple style spoke so much of her. Anyway, It wasn't functioning for years. I tried to get estimates at a billion places and they either made me nervous that they would further damage the Rolex, or refused to service because the parts would be hard to find, or said it was an older model and not willing to try. I mean, I travelled abroad, tried several Rolex stores and repair shops and still felt dubious. Finally, I remembered A&E and I figured their long tenure and reputation would be worth trying. Besides, my family purchased from them before and had great experiences. So this July, my husband and I took the watch in, explained the extra sentimentality of it, and asked for a quote. A week later, Tzipzi called that it may take some time, but that they were willing to try sourcing the parts from Europe. I figured after all these years, they seemed to be the most willing and honest with their work so I took the risk. They also understood the sentimentality of it and offered to do their best... ...About 3 and 1/2 months later, after many follow ups in between, Tzipzi called with such excitement that they finally found the missing part and were able to get it to work! She even did a trial run over a few days to make sure there were no issues. It was a HUGE relief to hear from her! It may have just been a repair, but to me it felt like reviving a huge memory of my mom. I was going through a tough time at work and this felt like a message of hope......and a reminder to keep searching for the right place ; to keep trusting others and also to know one's worth. What some considered a broken old watch, was revived into a beautiful priceless keepsake. My mom always said "If the path gets dark, someone will always be sent to guide you". Waste of time. Brought my non Rolex watch for a battery change as they said they could do through past communications. 20 minutes later, I'm left with a scratched watch that's still not ticking. Based off that experience alone, I wouldn't take any watch here unless it's a Timex or something. If they can't properly perform a simple service on a sub $200 watch without damage, I'm not confident in trusting them with anything else. Front person was completely unfriendly, no smile, no friendly words, didn't inspect the watch and just whisked it off behind closed doors. They seemed more like a salesperson and weren't bothered because i didn't have anything to do with a Rolex or any interest in buying one. 5 mins later, I come back and they're still not done so I roam around the floor another 10-15 and saw another watch repair shop. Back to the store and I'm getting impatient but respectful still and an older person is there, also not quite bothered but at least friendly and knows how to smile says they're not done with the watch yet so I wait a few more minutes inside now and finally the door opens, they're futzing with the watch, person walks it back to me and I leave. I look over the watch as I'm walking out and and see scratches from the attempted opening of the case back. I've no clue why it took them so long but suspect they had never seen a Nato watch strap before and couldn't figure out how to remove it. Then proceeded to leave 5 scratches trying to open it, panicked, and couldn't figure out how to put the strap back on. I contemplated going back but didn't feel like getting into it and not sure what they'd be able to do anyway. It honestly feels like a grift the way everything went down, like one of those situations which gives a bunch of red flags in hindsight as they're recalled from your travels. Ended up going to Arkadiy Minasian, the other shop I found while waiting, who got everything done in 10 minutes right in front of me. read more

I went to this place to get my watch sized so I could start wearing it and wow they were super friendly. They were selling Rolex watches and other high end ones but did not appear to judge me at all when I asked them to size a non high end watch which was great. Took them about 15mins and the charge was only $10, cheaper than I thought. I was offered water/coffee as well which was nice. When I'm ready for a high end watch I can look here but for now this is going to be my go to for watch related issues. read more
