He takes excellent care of your furniture in all stages of the moving process, and takes pride in his work. His son Evan, who has helped three of the four times, is what every parent would want their child to grow up to be. He's a very hard worker, very personable and professional. And I might add, very tall! I've also had the pleasure of meeting the mighty Carmen, one of John's employees, who was equally as kind and professional. It was nice to see the rapport between John and Carmen. My takeaway is that he treats his employees well, which is important to me when doing business. In addition to his moving services, John purchased jewelry and coins from me at a fair price. With the number of services Abbey Rose provides, John has a wealth of information which anyone would benefit from while moving or downsizing, or just looking to selling items in your home. The prices on the stuff I did check out were on the high side. They had toys, drugstore items, books, clothing, home goods, and a little bit of everything. The had several Day of Dead decorations and a cute snacklebox but those items didn't have prices. There is an adjacent antique store, Barn Door Antiques. I don't know if it is the same business or two separate businesses? I think they also buy gold? There is a lot going on here. In any case I didn't go over to the antique store. Amelia's Thriftique was a miss for me today but if you are feeling adventurous you may want to check them out.

The person working was friendly and extremely busy. I bought a few comics from the 1990s and sealed baseball wax packs from the 1980s. There are signs up about the store closing and big discounts before that day arrives. I think they will still be selling on weekends at their other location in B&A Flea Market in Stuart, Florida.

The front of the store was filled with neatly organized shelves of vintage toy cars, barbie dolls, trading cards, action figures, comic books, anime figures, Funko Pops, and sports memorabilia, jerseys, and hats. If there is something you are looking for don't hesitate to ask. The back room is more like a traditional thrift store with furniture, art, home goods, and collectibles. I was told that they are getting rid of the thrift side so that they can use the back room for storage so if there is something that catches your eye they are probably willing to make a deal.

I had fun exploring several rooms of art, furniture, collectibles, home goods, clothes, jewelry, decorations, and much more. There were so many unique and show stopping pieces. I loved the sweet botanicals at the Enchanted Forest, an Egyptian sarcophagus and chest, a playful monkey crawling across a bar, and the vintage cookie jars and glassware. The prices seemed very reasonable and the lovely ladies who were working were on hand to help but also left me free to explore as I prefer. You will want to plan on spending some time here to see all that they have. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated on new inventory, sales, and store events.

It held a general store downstairs and the family lived upstairs. In the northeast corner of the store you can see a small room that used to be an icebox. Town residents would meet on the front porch. In the intervening years the building was a western store, feed store, and a furniture store. In 1993 it became an antique store. Current owner Cathy Wells has owned the business since 1998. The Mercantile is 3,200 sq. ft. and has more than sixty vendors selling countless items over two floors. Furniture, bric-a-brac, dolls, collectibles, jewelry, clothes, china, they have it all. Some of my favorite items were a Lilly Pulitzer dress, glass door knobs, and tiny blue bottles for a dollar. It would take awhile to see everything they have. In true old Florida fashion there is no air conditioning. Buildings built back in the day were designed to move air and they have fans everywhere so the heat wasn't unbearable. The young lady running the store was a sweetheart. I loved the mercantile and all the stuff they sell.

What I found was a maze of rooms filled with all sorts of stuff. Collectibles, art, china, furniture, old household items, they have a lot of stuff. Just when I thought I came to the end there was another turn and another room. I was hoping to find some vintage Pyrex and I did find some bowls but they were $75 and not in a color I liked. I don't know if they price haggle because I didn't want them enough to ask. They did have some Highwaymen paintings but since they were based out of Ft. Pierce many other area stores have them too. Some of the items were dirty and there was a really overpowering sickly sweet smell in the front. I can't describe it other than to say it made me want to leave. The gentleman in the front of the store was very nice and they don't hassle you while you look around. There wasn't anything for me today but I would stop in again.
