That's how it was with The Town Book Store, a neighborhood fixture that was once located across the street many years ago. Now in a cute corner of Westfield, this cozy, beautiful store is very welcoming. You step in and see a counter to the right and books (along with plush animals and more) throughout the rest of the shop. There are even a couple nice chairs in a nice little waiting area off to the side. Walk towards the back and you find shelves with featured books and even a sale section. The woman behind the counter was extremely friendly and it was nice chatting with her as my girlfriend and I looked over the books selection. The store seems to largely aim towards kids. The kids section is extensive with the adult sections are a bit less packed with selections. That said, my interests skew towards scifi/fantasy and graphic novels, and you cannot expect every store to carry those in bulk. There was also a shelf dedicated to the town of Westfield itself, with books that covered the history of the town and even a pack of greeting cards with paintings of buildings from around town! This is not the flashiest bookstore around, but that's the charm. I absolutely recommend a visit if you are in Westfield.

For the Amber Feather, they do NOT accept any clothes. The owner searches for clothes herself and…read moredoes not accept donations. I talked a little bit with her, and from what she said, the store is not for people who wear petite or small. It's for women who wear medium or large clothing. The fashion is for older women rather than younger women. The aesthetics of the clothing match bigger, flowery patterns like a table cloth. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are a teen or young adult, but it is for older women who wear mediums or larges. That being said, I would recommend 2nd Ave Thrift store in Union (very cheap and fashionable) or Anthem off North Union Avenue (for fashion and in-style clothing) for those younger and smaller women looking to go thrifting.

I would really have loved to give a great review. I'm a big vintage/consignment shopper and I was…read morereally disappointed today. I went out of my way to Cranford to check out this store (in celebration of National Thrift Day-- today). I passsed by around 4:30-ish pm and there was a notice on the door saying the shopkeeper would be back at 5. The notice said: "Stepped out to Laundromat and Post Office. Return 5 pm." It doesn't make sense to me to go do laundry during business hours? Shouldn't errands like that be done during the lunch hour if anything? But it didn't bother me at first I just walked around and came back at 5. And waited. And waited. I waited 1 hour for the shopkeeper to come back (until 6pm) and still no sign of the person coming back. After a while it was kind of hot to wait outside and I felt really weird standing outside for so long so I stepped into a café and watched from the seat. By the time it was 6, I couldn't even check out the vintage shops in other neighboring towns I was hoping to. All in all a disappointing day. It was just kind of unprofessional and disrespectful of customers' time and energy. In total I came, spent 90 minutes, energy, gas, parking money, etc etc just to come see this one store and waited outside the store for a significant amount of time kind of looking like an idiot...not a great impression. I was really patient waiting an hour and a half and I just don't want other customers to go through that. To be clear stuff happens and so I don't take it personally but it was just unfortunate. If I'm in the area again I'd still love to still swing by and try giving it another go.

I frequently shop at Ruby & Jenna because I do love their clothing. During one of my prior visits I noticed a Store Manager (with dark hair) speaking to one of the sales girl (a petite little thing) who was so pleasant and helpful, in a demeaning manner. This same sales girl that I have seen before has actually assisted me in purchasing multiple items. She was pleasant and eager to help. Very often do you see sales girls act this way, so it made my shopping experience wonderful. When I visited today, the Store Manager was there again and just seemed like she was looking to humiliate this sales girl because she did not like her. What "boss" reprimands an employee in front of customers? Only someone that does that on purpose because they are a bully. Totally unprofessional!! The store is on the smaller side, so it was not difficult to hear. I do not know if that young Store Manager was on a power trip, but if her bosses saw her acting this way, I am sure they would not be happy. I will not be shopping in this location again because of it. Bullies need to be reported and shown disciplinary action OR maybe the owners of Ruby & Jenna need to only hire mature middle aged woman to run their store. This is a terrible representation of their name and in today's world, where small businesses are struggling, I feel it is very important to hire people that will not abuse their title and jeopardize sales, which for me, did just that today! I would definitely suggest you shop in their Plainview or Roslyn stores or only shop in this location if the Store Manager is not working.
