The owner of the company dropped by my house and gave me an amazing vision of what my master closet and all my other closets could be used for.

First, the design questionnaire was excellent - especially for someone like me who doesn't know much about interior design. It was able to identify my design preferences by showing different living rooms and asking which ones were to my liking. In addition, its questions served as a great preparation for the home visit, so Stephanie came well prepared for our meeting. Stephanie was very creative, professional, and helpful throughout the process. When she visited my place, we decided on a design together, in an efficient process, where she was able to translate my needs and preferences to interior design decisions and furniture choices. After two weeks, she assembled a furniture shopping list, within the budget I requested. I purchased all items she suggested. The furniture items were sourced from many furniture stores and I felt she did an excellent job finding items that were beautiful, fit the overall design, and reasonably priced. I get nothing but compliments about my place (even from my Architect friend who is quite stingy with design related complements...). Well done Stephanie! As to the cost-effectiveness of the service - had I done this process myself (even with friends help), I would have surely spent more time, more money, getting worse results. Finally, the service was well structured and transparent. Good stuff overall.

Chelsea has helped me with three rooms so far and I couldn't be happier! She is professional, attentive and truly brought my vision to life. Chelsea spent about an hour on the phone with me before the design process even started, so she could fully understand my lifestyle and vision. She even asked where I like to go clothes shopping, which to me is such an important question! In addition, Chelsea answered any questions in a promptly manner and she stayed within my budget! I cannot recommend her enough to my family and friends, and I can't wait to have Chelsea design my next space!

Chelsea helped me achieve the vision that I was struggling to put together. Based on pictures I shared with her she was able to help me narrow down my choices. Chelsea really listens to you. She worked within the budget I had. I really like that I was able to purchase items myself. She organizes everything for you on the Houzz app and it was so easy to use. She is extremely responsive and answered every single question I had in a timely manner. I am so pleased with how my condo turned out. She helped me to pick out pieces for my living room, dining room and kitchen- all done remotely!! I would highly recommend working with Chelsea . I can't wait to hire her for future projects.

I had a countertop installed by Academy Marble in 2008. The granite we selected was beautiful and…read morethe countertop was professionally installed by Academy. The issue I have now, 16 years later, is with the granite around the sink. First, the piece of granite that encompasses my sink area is large. Sometimes these pieces are whole, but this one was split in the middle of the sink area. That means that each 1/2 of the sink area has narrow granite to encompass it. The undermount sink support is primarily on the sides of the sink where the granite material is counter width. Here's what happened - several years ago, cracks started showing up at the back of the sink. We didn't realize what was going on. Eventually, the cracks opened wide to reveal rusted steel bars in the granite. I had no idea there was steel embedded in the granite and why it should have been since the granite was split (by design) in the middle of the sink area and the steel support embedded in the granite was mildly - if at all - effective in it's supporting function. Maybe it would have been if the granite was one whole piece - I don't know. Academy installers nor anyone from the company mentioned that water intrusion (into the steel exposed below the counter or at the split - not sure where it got in) would cause the granite to crack like this. Fact - rusting/oxidizing steel embedded in any stone will expand and crack the granite. In a sink area, there should be no steel at all - this is a warning to EVERY GRANITE COUNTERTOP CUSTOMER. I had contacted Academy subsequently and they brushed me off saying the weight of the sink caused the granite to crack (which is not true). They simply refused to take responsibility for what I will call a granite "time bomb" they planted in 2008. They steadfastly refused to acknowledge this error and even admitted they STILL use steel in the granite countertops they install to "reinforce" it. My advice to anyone wanting to have granite installed in their kitchen is to do your due diligence. Ask everything you can think of to these "experts". Make them sign an agreement that anything they do to the granite that is unnatural (like embedding supports) will not crack the granite. To those folks that are skeptical of my assertions here, search online and you'll see accounts and videos of folks repairing their granite caused by rusting steel supports embedded in the granite. This cost me over $1700 to repair and although the repair contractor did a good job, you can still see that the countertop had cracks in it. I don't think they pulled all the steel out and it is possible that cracking may happen in the future. My advice is to stay away from Academy for your granite needs. They admit they are still embedding steel in granite - perhaps they are looking for repeat business or maybe they are just incompetent. For them to still practice this nonsense is one thing, but it is another to not inform their clients of the risks of future cracked granite caused by rusting embedded steel rods. It is unconscionable.

It became a "while you're at it" project, and we wound up gutting the whole first floor, as well as the 2 upstairs bathrooms. Kevin joined us at the outset and immediately grasped our life style and our tastes and created spaces that reflect who we are and the way we live. He miraculously updated the interior while maintaining the original colonial architecture and character, creating timeless spaces. He was generous with his time and energy, giving us time to make choices and decisions, gently nudging us in another direction when he intuitively knew we would be happier with the end result. Kevin maintained a positive attitude throughout the process, buoying up us as we hit all the inevitable snags and delays, and remains a good friend and advisor to this day. The house beautifully fit on the island where it is located and Kevin designed the home to take into account the best attributes of my lot. He also took care of all of the design as well with thoughtful interior finishes that beautifully fit the form and function of the vacation home. He worked from the beginning to get our feedback on the direction he was recommending and to unify the big picture decisions for the build with the details that would create the feel and style of the finished project. His vision in the architectural design was then effectively brought to life through excellent communications with the general contractor overseeing the construction after I selected a contractor using his design documentation in the bidding process. Our vacation home is a joy for my family and all of the extended family and friends with whom we share time in this special place. The design makes a wow first impression, but more importantly it has had an enduring quality for family and loved ones who love having time with one another in this home. I can't imagine how Ii would have built a vacation home like this without the vision and attention to detail that Kevin brought to the project.
