Very pleased with our new Queen wall bed! Looks so nice! The whole process was smooth. Our designer/sales person was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a bit high-pressure (in-person immediate decision needed to take advantage of full discount) so if you are shopping around I'd recommend you schedule your CBD appointment last, after you've gathered your other quotes. Not her fault, I think that is just their sales strategy. You can negotiate, we asked for shaker upgrade to be thrown in and it was approved. We picked a date for delivery and install. I got a call to confirm and then another call the day before with a two-hour time window. Install was great Robert and Gabe were thoughtful about placement of our wall bed to ensure maximum space for walking around it. They worked hard and even offered to put the mattress on for us! The space and wall bed were left clean. They showed us how to use the bed and provided tips and tricks (no jumping and get in from bottom, not sides) before they left. This is the second time I've used CBD. The first was about 8 years ago re-doing our master closet. That instillation still looks new and we've never had any issues with it. Purchased a new home in Maricopa and wanted a nice bedroom closet to replace what the builder installed. We also like nice organized garage space and still park our cars inside. So after our sales person recommended Closets by Design because he used them in his home we gave them a call and set up an appointment with the designer. Marina came to our home and listened to what we wanted. She made some very good suggestions and started to make a plan. After we agreed on a layout for both the bedroom closet and the garage she gave us a quote. I have had closets installed in two previous homes by there large competitor who started on the west coast and had a good idea what the price should be. The discount I was offered made me agreeable to move forward. Two weeks later the installers showed up and installed everything in two days. Jenny was my sales rep. she came to my house and i told her what i wanted to terms of storage for my closet - space for shoes, purses, etc. She reviewed the space and gave me a quote - but no contract. When the installers came and started working in the closet, i realized the shelving was not deep enough to accommodate a simple purse turned sideways, let alone deep enough for shoes. The installers said they couldn't change the design at that point because pieces were already cut. The whole process seemed to be rushed. Jenny called me late in the evening before the install telling me i needed to sign the contract so it could be in before the end of the year - obviously commissioned based. So a 12 inch deep shelf became only 11.5 inches. i called Steven the manager at that point and he said to fix the problem it would be double the price. i now realize i could have gone to Lowes and had this done and installed for half the price. I had been thinking about having an organization system installed in our master closet since we moved in. But the question was, who should I use? I gave CBD a call and they were ready to send out a designer ASAP! They coordinated with mine and my husband's schedule, and we were visited by Ashleigh the next week. She took time to measure out plans for our closet after asking us what we were needing. I wanted drawers to replace an old brown chest that we had for years and still didn't fit all of my foldables, and I needed space for lots of the dresses that I wear to work. She drew up 2 different options of utilizing our space, and we opted for the choice that would give us more open space while still having plenty of storage. We also selected to have their installers handle the tear down of our old rods and shelving, as well as patch up and paint those areas on the walls. Ashleigh was absolutely wonderful to work with through the pricing and design selection process. While the design visit was in November, we decided to wait and schedule installation in January, which was not an issue for CBD. Axel was the installer who arrived for the project. He alone handled every aspect of the work: tear out, patch and paint, cutting and installation. It took him from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM to complete everything. While I'm fully aware it's not a flawless finish because you can make out the spots where patch and paint was done, I think it looks wonderful. Axel did a great job and didn't leave a mess behind. This was overall a great decision at a reasonable price with great service and quality. I would recommend CBD if anyone ever asked! read more

The also serviced Maricopa, Arizona, which is rare. There were some hiccups with my office and we had to rebuild it but this is what I like about this company Satisfaction Guaranteed ...they came back and made it right and I added to it and the charge was reasonable. We had a CBD closet installed in our home through our contractor, and it's been nothing but a nightmare. Nothing fits as it should, 7" of filler in areas, cabinets don't open right (hitting each other when opening, hitting handles etc) and all of the dimensions are completely wrong, not per the drawing we approved from our designer. It's been 3 weeks now and still NOTHING has been done, they waste day after day, week after week, with no resolution in sight. Customer service is non existent it seems, and we are stuck with an unusable closet that we paid a ton of money for. We've been living out of hampers for weeks and would love our normalcy back, but don't see any end to it anytime soon with CBD. Even tried messaging through IG and getting nothing. read more

Normally an 8+ week lead time, CbD happened to have some limited openings the day after July 4th. My closet was installed in a matter of days! Dan showed up to complete the installation right on time, was very respectful of my property, and left the premises clean and tidy. In terms of cost, a custom closet is a luxury. However, CbD was actually cheaper than an Elfa system from the Container Store (even during a 25% off event), and the solution did a much better job of utilizing my limited space! This company has their head up their *#&. The designer tells you one thing, basically what you want to here. The drawings say something else (which you find out later). Neither what we wanted and told we were getting or the drawings were done correctly. There are 5 people you deal with, all saying something different. When you call the managers 3 times they dont bother to ever call you back but the run your credit card when there is no resolution. I certainly will never deal with them again and i recommend that you stay away from this company if you dont want to go insane over a simple project. read more

** READ ALL REVIEWS, BBB, BEFORE CONSIDERING CBD ** Closets by Design is a predatory, dishonest, company that is attempting to sue me and put a lien on my home. The review below is a summarized version of the events. This, unfortunately, is very involved and ugly. I'm not going to draft pages of context, but I do have everything documented, photographed, and video. I engaged in a contractual agreement with CBD Nov 2022 to install a cabinet and closet system in my laundry, hallway cove and master closet. My understanding of the contractual obligations and expectations seems to differ from CBD's interpretation as I'll explain. Jan 2023 they arrived to install. They started by completely removing my baseboards and causing significant damage in the process (hallway and master closet). They began to install the cabinet and closet systems over the damaged areas. The material used is dirty and damaged in some areas. The framework for much of their install does not align with our initial design specs. When I saw the damage and improper installation, I asked them to pause while I contacted the office to allow for a resolution. I spoke with Susan Kroll, who seemingly wasn't interested in hearing about the issues nor how to make things right. She explained that I must allow the crew to continue their work or face legal implications including a lien. I suggested the crew remove the installed materials and allow me to patch and paint the areas and continue their install when they were to come out the following week (they had damaged material that was being replaced and would come in the following week). Susan agreed to the new arrangement and indicated that she would call the crew's supervisor to advise and contact me back. Things escalated with the crew as they demanded payment in full (** yes, this is apparently in the fine print of the contract --- you are to pay in full BEFORE they start work). Since they started work without collecting the money, they apologized, and said I needed to pay before they would continue or they would leave as they had another job to get to. I called Susan back; she explained that the original contract is binding, and they would not be removing anything. Allow things to move forward or she would proceed with legal. The crew was packing up; I asked them to wait until I got things sorted out with the office. I called back and spoke with Heather and indicated that the crew was packing up and leaving. She said the crew did not feel comfortable and was leaving. The crew proceeded to place all materials in respective areas and left on their own accord. (all of this is on video) I contacted my credit card company to dispute the initial down payment. I filed a complaint with the BBB. After a week between the BBB and Closets by Design, the issue was deemed unresolved. Mr. Gil Santos - owner of CBD Phoenix, contested everything, and claimed the crew was 90% complete when I ejected his crew from the property. Mr. Santos sent an email out on 1/23/2023 (photo attached) indicating CBD has retained counsel and they would repair the damage they caused but at a cost. I filed a claim against CBD with the AZAG providing an account of the events as they occurred, including the documented exchanges between our attorneys; I was forced to obtain legal counsel. Through the attorneys we were not able to come to a resolution; the proposals I made were rejected by CBD. On 3/24/2023, I received an email from the AZAG with the letter (photo attached) from Mr. Santos that we had a deal in which I reneged and pursue litigation and past due amounts. Why did Mr. Santos say I reneged? My attorney presented a scenario to the CBD allowing them to keep the deposit in exchange for us all walking away. I explained to my attorney that this was not acceptable as I disputed the entirety of the deposit because the damage in which CBD has caused was more than the deposit. This is documented; my attorney admittedly missed. My attorney did discuss the error with the CBD attorney. Despite this, Mr. Santos lied to the office of the AZAG. read more

Could not be happier! We've researched custom closets and the nightmares people have had. From the very first moment we met Savannah Walters to the install, we were amazed. Amazed by the amount of time and detail Savannah took. She asked about function, flow and design choices. She took the time to literally count the number of pairs of shoes we had. She asked questions I had never thought of than took her time designing the perfect, incredible and functional closet. The install gentleman was awesome as well. He did it all by himself and took his time following the CAD design perfectly. Hours and hours he was there and even altered some pieces to ensure perfection. I'm happy with my new master closet and overall my experience with Closets by Design was good. The saleswoman spent ample time with me helping me make the right design choices and pick out the right materials. The price of my project was reasonable and seems fair for what I had installed. I spoke with other closet companies but decided on Closets by Design due to their competitive pricing and the attention my saleswoman showed me. The reason why I'm not giving CBD a 5-star rating is because the install was a little too sloppy. The installer did a fine job with the closet units, but left the walls dirty (pencil markings) and there were a few dents on an opposing wall that were made during installation. I understand minimal wall damage where the old units were removed and new units installed, but I'm unhappy that a wall unrelated to the closet was damaged. Is it a deal breaker? No, but it's not ideal. I'd hire CBD again but I would be a little pickier in reviewing the final product before the install team leaves my house. read more

The sales person Jessica was wonderful. Installation was full of problems: I paid for backing but the unit was built smaller than the area that was to be covered with backing. I had to wait 2 more days for installer to come back and center the unit on the wall. Then I had to paint on each side of the unit to cover the bare spots. (Paying for backing is to eliminate and painting or wall repair). That didn't happen. I was surprised to learn that the top edge of the panels are raw particle board. I was informed that is their normal production. The kickboard on one side is falling out. I pushed in back in this morning. I hope it lasts. read more

She made recommendations, never up sailing me and only keeping our needs in mind. She showed me pictures and left with me a copy of the design she completed for our closets. Wow, wow and WOW - would NOT recommend. Where to begin?!?!? We understand the world we live in and things are a little different these days, however customer service is customer service and after 20 + calls/texts - still NO response!!!! We waited 6 months for the cabinets/install and paid 10k + for a 1/2 completed job, no doors on any of our cabinets and a shitty message left with our home sitter placing the blame on the designer. Measurements were incorrect, wrong doors were ordered. We awaited a response to rectify the opportunities, however we are going on 3 weeks and crickets. The sales representative is keeping in touch but no response from the owners, managers, customer service department that promises us someone will return our call today. Mind blowing considering. I had an excellent experience with Closets by Design, Phoenix. My sales associate, Dawn Hawco was truly incredible - taking the time to hand-design the perfect closet set up for our rather small master closet. Who draws by hand on graph paper any more? Dawn does! The process really allowed us to talk thru all of the options and arrive at what works best for us within our budget. Other companies I consulted just measured and left and sent a cad produced design that did not maximize the space for our needs. Take the time to work with Dawn, she is worth it! Also, the closet was ready for install when I wanted it to be, and Dan came (he was early!) and installed it super efficiently. Everything is squared off, closes seamlessly and also looks great! They really know how to make a lesser budget job look expensive. And finally, when we put everything back into the closet, we do have more space than we used to! While we are happy with the finished product, I wish we could say this experience was pleasant. Our designer was great, and drew up the design on the spot! She was open to changes and had a formal proposal to us quickly. We agreed and set up our install date for 3 months out. When we reached out to her for another potential project, she confirmed she was no longer with the company and we decided to hold off. Our install date came and the Installation Technician called when he was heading to our home. He completed 2 of the 3 walls in our closet over 6 hours. He confirmed he was missing parts for the last wall, but was happy to come out as soon as possible to finish, even offering up his weekend. He mentioned the office would reach out to schedule the 2nd install in a day or so. A week went by before I called them myself to schedule the 2nd install, and they said the install team would reach out to schedule, which took place a few days later. We set up a time for the next week and I confirmed I would be home. On the morning of the 2nd install date, I did not get a call from the Installation technician any time during our scheduled window (8:00am-10:00am). Instead, I got a call from the Install manager at 11:00am saying there was a problem and they would have to reschedule. I was understanding and we scheduled for the same time the next week. When that day came, I received another call from the Install manager stating there was another problem and they could not come that day, but could be there tomorrow. We understand unforeseen things happen, but this was becoming excessive. A technician finally showed up the next day and completed the install, he was fantastic. I wanted to speak with CBD before paying my remaining 2nd half balance as I believed the last-minute cancellations were very unprofessional and they had not offered to help in any way. It took another few weeks of me calling to speak with someone before I finally received a call back from a woman who begrudgingly offered to discount $200. By that time I was so exhausted from the ordeal I agreed and signed the change order. Even after that, my card was not charged for another few weeks which was uncomfortable. We are happy with the finished closet and the Installation Technicians were friendly and skilled, hence the 2-star review. Ultimately we would not work with this company for any future projects. read more
