They come out and measure. I expected them to drive away, work up a few computer designs and schedule a return visit to pitch us. Nope. Everything happens on that first visit. They get real quiet while they're designing. Then they tell you about the (3) different tiers of material. It ain't inexpensive. But there's a reason they stay in business. They added a ton of hanger area and shelves. We had the finish the top for long term storage above. They give a great discount if you sign during first trip. Then we waited maybe two weeks (not long) before they came to install. Sean G was our installer, and he's the real deal. Showed up with a van and all the saws you could want. Only took him a few hours. I'll let you be the judge of the results (see photos). We're very pleased and appreciate the fact it took no more than 3-weeks from first meeting to install. read more

We ordered garage cabinets. The height of the cabinets were discussed in detail on the day of the order was placed. On the day of installation, they gave us shorter cabinets. I tried to contact multiple people that day and after. After they found out what the issue was, they were unresponsive. It was extremely frustrating to know that the wrong size cabinets were installed and no one from Closet by design cared and tried to resolve the issue. Not even an apology. In addition, the installers were not so professional. They had attitudes despite feeding them and giving them furniture from our garage. There were some defects in the workmanship which they promised to come back and fix and never fixed it. Bottom line is they are very cold, nasty and inconsiderate people. I will never recommend someone that has no respect for their customer. read more

Moving into a new to us home gave us the opportunity to expand our walk in closet to accommodate our belongings. More storage is a good thing. Karlin spent three hours with us on a Sunday to determine the best use of space incorporating our ideas and her creativity. We had an excellent result when Issac came to install. The sales gal Char was great, but she did not notice the dryer plug which we had to adjust our folding area due to the fact the factory made the laundry cabinet to wide, so my new stackable did not fit correctly. Installation was full of problems: We had to adjust the whole right side of the laundry cabinets by 5 inches. Then each time the installers plan to be by to adjust all and fix things, they were always late without calling. This experience unfortunately was not a good one. I was surprised to learn the material was made out raw particle board. Not to mention the sales office to appear to see the urgency or the problem to make us a priority. We were so excited to get our laundry room update and were so disappointed overall with Closet by Design. read more

STAY AWAY!!! This place is *the most* unprofessional business we've ever dealt with. BY FAR. I cannot say enough about how unprofessional and ridiculous our entire experience was. Do not waste your precious money & time like we did - go with someone else. Someone who actually values your business and doesn't insist on collecting full payment for a botched and severely delayed project. They installed an office for us earlier this year, which we then decided to revise because there wasn't enough desk space. That is where the nightmare began. They constantly missed the mark on what we wanted revised vs. what the designer wrote down vs. what the CAD technicians drew vs. what the installers thought they should be installing. Their measurements were all over the place, and on multiple occasions, we had to measure things ourselves and report those numbers to the designer over the phone. The designer was not proactive about following up with us; we had to do all the reaching out. Weeks went by with silence on their part for one reason or another, but overall, they never showed initiative to want to get this job done, and we constantly felt that we had to track them down. We waited for months for them to fix their own mistakes, and they still ended up charging us full price! On multiple occasions, their installers showed up unprepared, with pieces missing and inaccurate or missing CAD drawings. Each of those visits cost us previous time away from work, which was an added hassle and inconvenience, bleeding into our PTO time. At one point, while trying to revise the existing unit, they ended up leaving half of a wall barren, with a tabletop missing. Needless to say, they rendered what was left of our office space completely unusable for 4+ moths (see attached images). YES -- that is what we were stuck with for 4+ months! With both me and my husband working from home and needing an immediate office solution, this was an absolute nightmare. The designer blamed the CAD techs for "misinterpreting her handwriting", and the installers were clueless as to what the final product should look like. It was obvious that this place has major internal turmoil and zero internal accountability. Our original designer actually quit! Their internal departments do not communicate with one another, even if it means completely derailing a customer project. ***This place does not put customers first.*** We escalated to the Director of Operations after 5+ months of waiting for a finished product. The Director did return our call and collected information, but in the end, they still ended up charging us full price for everything, despite the fact that the 5+ month holdup was entirely their fault. We did ask -- on multiple occasions -- for our final bill to be reduced due to the delays and inconvenience, but all those attempts fell on deaf ears. In the end, the installers "winged" the install using a 3-D rendering that we ourselves drew up using simple sketch-up software (see attached image). When their customers are paying multiple THOUSANDS of dollars, the least they could do is provide an accurate a 3-D rendering (But then again -- that could only be done if they actually had competent CAD technicians who know how to draw & interpret design drawings). Showing the installers our drawing was like a lightbulb moment for them -- they finally understood what they were supposed to install. However, they still stripped out our baseboards and failed to repair them as promised (see attached images). The finished product looks OK, but quality is no better than cheap IKEA furniture. It was NOT worth thousands of dollars and many, many months spent waiting. Biggest purchase regret for our new home, hands down. I must also add that our revision project was not complicated -- 2 upper cabinets, 1 lower cabinet, some shelving, backing, and an extended tabletop -- all added onto an existing unit that they originally installed. That's it. And that took them 6 months to do!!! ***Take our advice - and the advice of many others on here - steer clear of this place and spend your money elsewhere.*** read more

Ridiculous way of doing business. Once the sales person hooks you up, they show attitude and refuse to work with you to resolve anything. There ultimate goal is for you to sign there disclaimer which is totally in there favor. Unfinished walls after installations and holes everywhere on the cabinets were not something we were expecting. They promised us a lot of things like complementary hangers and nothing, absolutely nothing was done once they got the business. Have called multiple times to inquire what's going on with the unfinished product and nobody has returned even one call. read more

Unfortunate to be writing this, but I have no choice. Three months ago we hired Closets by Design to overhaul three closets and our garage. For the most part, the experience was very positive with them. The work they did was reliable and quality. That said, the floor tile they sold me, as you can see from the photos below, is a very poor quality product. After just three months, it is a disaster. Coming apart at the seams. Discoloration. Just a poor product. I feel a reputable company would take one look at this, apologize, issue a refund, and take things up separately with the manufacturer. I mean, look at it - right?? Unfortunately, that is not how they have chosen to handle this. They are, arguably, dragging their feet. Follow up from them is extremely slow. I always must contact them for updates. It's been six weeks since I first complained, as it was clearly very early that this tile was awful. Their resolution is to order replacement tiles from the manufacturer and see how that goes first. What tiles of this disaster are they going to replace? The entire thing is coming apart and discoloring after just three months. Can you imagine how god awful this is going to look in three years? No, I want it gone. It's not their fault, but this is the manufacturer they chose. I trusted them. Now they want me to be tied to their manufacturer. This is business integrity? Too bad, because otherwise it was a good experience with them. read more

I had the worst experience with Rose. I should've trusted my gut from our first meeting. She was so clueless. We started working together in early 2022. Install was scheduled for July. She messed up designs repeatedly and I kept asking for a CAD because everything was so illegible. She never followed through with that. She came out for the final measurements a week before and somehow screwed up so badly that they canceled my install the night before they were scheduled then pushed new install out 12 weeks-which was what they were quoting new jobs. So basically the job had to be started from scratch. After a few days of back and forth, the person in charge couldn't even handle it anymore and just offered to refund me for everything. That part was great in theory but left me back at square one. What a waste of time. Absolutely would never recommend this company and especially Rose. read more

Horrible. Had our install appointment scheduled for 8/8 & 8/9...it's now 8/16 and the project is still not complete. The installers had a bunch of excuses as to why they couldn't finish the job & promised to be back but all I received was no shows and more excuses. When I checked out the work that they did do I found horrible quality pieces that don't line up correctly, damaged edges, chipped laminate wood flooring (brand new prior to our move in). Called the office 8/15 to speak to a manager and I was promised a call back once he returned to his desk. Just like the installers, there was no return call. I thought I was getting my designer closet at a 5k price tag but what I have instead is cheap material that I could've bought for a lot less at IKEA or Home Depot DO NOT USE!!! read more

This is my second review and second closet done by Closets by design. Just when I didn't think it could get any better it did! My guest closet was installed yesterday by Juan and Daniel. This team was methodical, meticulous, and so respectful to me and my home. I have had lots of projects done in different homes over the years but by far these two were the best ever!!! There was a light switch in the way, that wasn't planned for and the workmanship to work around it and make it look finished off and perfect gets an A+++!! The sales manager tried to prevent me from canceling the contract because apparently she didn't understand the law. The contract was signed on Monday 1/20/2020 - Martin Luther King Day. MLK day is a Federal Holiday and therefore is NOT a business day. I canceled the contract in writing on 1/23/2020 - The 3rd business day from the signing date. I sent the signed and dated cancelation letter on 1/23/20 by next day Air. I have a time stamp showing it was sent approx 4pm on Thursday 1/23/20 and received 1/24/20 by the owner. I had both a receipt from UPS and a Proof of Delivery showing the owner accepted the letter. Yet on Monday the sales manager falsely told me I couldn't cancel because apparently she didn't understand how the days worked. She said they would challenge my dispute of the credit card charge. The next day, the business manager called, apologized and agreed to pay for my legal consultation (but only if I went forward with a new contract). When they wrote the new contract, it had the dollar amounts wrong and would have charged me an extra $50. I appreciate they made some effort to make this right but I give them no credit for allowing me to exit the contract since they were legally obligated to cancel and only canceled after I told them I would take legal action. I give them no credit offering to pay attorney fees because it was contingent on continuing to do business with them. I ended up with AZ Garage and Closet Design in Scottsdale AZ and will write an excellent review for them. I got a Laundry room with better features (like butcher block counters and sliding lower cabinet drawers) all for 2K less than CBD. AZ Garage and Closet Design was easy to work with during the entire process. read more

I thought the pricing was a bit high for a closet, but was willing to pay because I didn't want to attempt to do it myself. Glad we upgraded to the top tier style. I really appreciated that our designer listened to what we thought we wanted, drew the design out, walked us through it, and didn't mind making changes since we realized what we thought we wanted wasn't going to be right for us. Glad I got my murphy bed on sale, not worth the money but I LOVED the team I was assigned. I loved my designer Char and the installation team. Char was wonderful in helping me plan and being patient with my revisions the day of the consult. My murphy bed arrived on schedule and everything was smooth. Gabriel and Jesus were excellent. Gabriel is the stand out of this whole experience he was personable, timely, and helped me out with some of the hardware concerns and the finished product was great all things considered. Closets by Design seem to skimp on their options. Not a lot of color choices. I wanted black, so that's easy for me but no color choices when painted wood is so popular right now. The hardware selections are outdated (I bought my own) and for a murphy bed that cost 6k, they didn't even come with soft close hinges and I had to request them. It's touches like this that make an experience great and a custom piece truly feel custom and worth the money. Summary: Great team, terrible price point, semi-custom. read more

I did not use this company but did have them out for an estimate. Small pool bathroom with about 5 feet of cabinets. Lovely young lady came out. I had a coupon from valpak for 40% off. She measured and sat at our table and quoted us approx $4,000 AFTER THE 40% plus another 15% off she claims she added. Outrageous for the tiny job. No way is that cabinet $7k-$8k with no discount. I said I'd discuss with husband. On her way out she said if we have a budget to let her know and she can talk to her manager. I said thanks I'll let you know. Within 30 min I had a text from her and the price was now $2,600! About an hour later she said it was $2,200 if we signed that day. I didn't reply. I already had an appointment scheduled with Space Solutions for the following day. I've used them before. They came out and measured and sent me an email later for the cost of $2,000. No haggling. Just honest price. Closets by Design are crooks if I had agreed to that $4,000 price. I wonder how many people just sign away without questioning. I will always warn my friends and family about their shady sales practices. read more

We recently had our garage cabinets installed. We picked this company based on quality and reputation and we definitely received what we paid for. We wanted a company that put in shelving that did not require legs, but could leave space under the cabinets, and that could carry the weight. We were a little surprised that the designer used paper to design and so the consult took much longer than we anticipated. Which meant we rushed at the end to approve the final design. When we realized there was an error, she was quick to make the corrections. It did take 4 months to schedule the installation, but that's because of the backlog in manufacturing. Our installation crew was on time, professional, and did good work! They worked well together and got a 3-day installation done in 2 days, and cleaned up appropriately. Impressive because they build everything on site. There were only a couple of disappointments, and part of that is our failure to review things in more detail. For example, the cabinet for the golf clubs is not deep enough. The bottom shelves do not have the metal edges that the other shelves have (possible sagging?). We would have liked extra pins for the shelves when adjusting. Overall happy with the work! read more
