I ordered a full closet system for my walk in master bedroom closet from closets by design. I specifically requested one section to be designed to fit tall, bulky storage items such as my massage table and my dog crates. I took the salesman back to measure these items so we could make sure that the final product would accommodate these items when the product was installed. The bottom shelf was too short and all the items simply fell out onto the floor, the installer was nice and tried to repair the shelving to fit my bulky items, but said the whole section would have to be remade to accommodate my bulky items. When I called the manager, they told me that the installation was made to their diagrams, and then it would cost me an additional $400 to modify my closet system to meet my specifications. I I told them that was unacceptable and disputed the charge on my credit card. The next morning they called me with a different attitude and agreed to come out and look at the problem and fix it for me. They never showed up for the appointment they made, and simply sent in their original contract to the credit company in charge me again for, the full price of the closet system. Don't trust this company because they don't do what they say and they don't back their sales people. They are very expensive for delivery this level of poor service. read more

When hired, I was guaranteed lifetime repair as long I remained the homeowner. We paid a lot of money for a custom office built in November of 2020. Eight months later I noticed that the pieces were separating. I have been trying to get this repaired since then. The company never returns phone calls and after countless phone calls, when they say they are coming to repair, they don't show. They don't even call to cancel and their attitude is downright nasty. Zero stars if it were available. I called here a week ago requesting a quote. Left a voicemail and was called 2 days later to schedule an appointment. They do not provide ANY information "over the phone or online" unless there's a field visit (EVEN DURING COVID) which I find to be very inflexible and measly business practices is this day and age. I wonder how they even stay in business. I was scheduled for April 2 (Good Friday, for those who are religious) and was told they'd be doing visits regardless. A week later I get another call to reschedule the field visit. (Shouldn't they have noticed that before scheduling me in??) I don't care about a visit. I want a quote, but they don't provide one over the phone or online even during a pandemic (that's archaic and inconsiderate to clients and their staff). But hey, if they don't need the business, then they can keep their archaic practices and those who have progressed with the times will find a vendor who's accommodating to clients and staff. "Buyer beware!" The quality of the product is not representative of what you pay even with their enticing 40% offer. They never told us they were using a compress composite as their material. There were many issues (hardware, uneven doors, unanchored support boards-to name a few) that required replacing after the installation and as a different installer said, "the owner gets upset when installation are not correct." Be careful when the designer promises something-get it in writing. Compare the copy of the design sketch to the finished job. Even after expressing concern during the design that we would not have enough shelving, we were always "reassured" they would provide us with shelves-a month later no response! Very disappointed. Not so fast forward, I followed up with the reply on my original post with a telephone call and "they promised they would deliver the shelves," it didn't happen and we are not surprised. read more

From the in home design session with Valerie, where she did the measurement, design, quote and scheduling, to the accommodation of the installation reschedule I needed, to the install by Sergio and Kyle it was an excellent experience. STAY AWAY!!!! I cannot believe that there is a company that is as unprofessional as this. After paying 50% down payment as per contract, they delayed the delivery and installation of the wardrobe for more than 6 months. The measurements were completely wrong and therefore they had to do it all over again and returned it again after more than a month. Then the second time, it was all completely wrong and they left saying that they would return to finish the job and instead they left it all disassembled without ever finishing the job. If you had a little dignity, you should be ashamed and shut down. This is a scam that you have put in place with consumers. read more

I don"t usually write reviews but I was inflamed by this experience. Angela was very rude, she spoke over me constantly. When I realized that I wasn't going to be heard I became angry and frustrated and I started talking over her so we were both being loud and unheard. They had dropped the ball for my installation which had been set up with specifics, my condo had been under renovations since December and I was ready to be done so I could put my clothes and personal stuff away, so when they missed install date I was not happy. No text, phone call or email just a no show on installation day. Angela said they would upgrade my closet to make up for their mistake, this would have worked normally but her attitude was still at the forefront of my mind. It also definitely felt like a take it or leave it situation. I took it but still felt unheard. When I said I should have read the yelp reviews before I contracted them she laughed quite loudly. I contacted them after installation because my brand new balcony tiles were damaged right at the area where their worker was cutting with his machine, I did not see it till a few days after they completed. No one had used the balcony after this install. They denied responsability saying their machine could not have done that, but there is no other explanation. Three of the four closets are beautiful, the fourth closet is meh almost on the ugly side. The designer Peter was very personable and supportive thru this experience. read more

If you do decide to go with this company, I recommend getting the backing (which I thought I did) and make sure you specify you want them to remove current shelving. To whomever may be interested in hiring this company, I strongly urge you to read the following review about my experience with their services. To make a long story short: I hired this company about three months ago to work on my garage space. After the contract was signed, texts were exchanged about an installation date which was not working for me and the designer said I had to work with the office. An installation date was set even though I indicated that date would not work. I called the office and got no return calls. Meanwhile, we realized that the cabinets were going to BLOCK the electric panel which would break federal code of fire hazard precautions. When this issue was brought to their attention, I was ignored by the designer/office. I had to call/text repeatedly and was stressed because the contract indicates NO changes and I still hadn't been able to change the install date which was fast approaching. I didn't want to be stuck with cabinets that I could not have installed due to a code violation plus common sense indicates you NEED TO ACCESS YOUR ELECTRICAL PANEL!! When I did finally hear back, they first told me that this was not an issue and attempted just to keep the cabinets there and just cut a hole. I felt this was not an appropriate solution. I again didn't hear back. I attempted to contact the designer via text and call the office. The designer did not reply after repeated attempts and I didn't get return phone calls and was only told they were working on it. I was told I could not cancel this project because it exceeded the 3 day cancellation period since the date of the contract. If I was to cancel, it had to be within the 3 business days and must be IN-PERSON. I ended up giving the designer a rough draft of what could work since I was not able to cancel this project. Now I am trying to get a new contract, new price and an installation date because their system still indicates this original date which still doesn't work! Again, I am trying to get a new contract because I am not getting the original design, getting less cabinets and being ignored on this. I then attempted to end the upcoming services in an email, requesting a refund for the following project, explaining in detail and attaching all the text communications. I called the company number and hoped to receive customer service at the least. However, the employees that I spoke to were very rude, refused to help me, and explained to me that they have my calls recorded instead of considering my frustration. In the end, I had no choice but to get the cabinets installed in which one employee explained how it needed to be installed, otherwise I get no refund and there is no recourse for consumers since there is a 3 day window to cancel which must be done in person when the contract is signed. Cabinets are installed and due to the constraints, they do not meet my needs. I write this review to warn others about this company's unprofessionalism, lack of communication once the contract is signed and urge anyone thinking about hiring to be careful about who they work with. read more

I hope to save another customer the hassle and headache we went through with Closets by Design, SE FL location, located in Pompano Beach, FL. Please do not use this company! They are extremely unethical and treat you terribly after you've paid in full. We were quoted $10K for 1 WIC and 3 RICs. My salesperson drew the closet designs on a carbonless paper for which I signed. The bottom pink copy of my closet drawings were provided to me. Upon agreeing to the drawings and signing my contract, I provided the required 50% deposit. During installation, I noticed that one of my RICs were not installed properly. I pulled out my copy of my drawings and showed the installer and he reviewed his drawings which matched mine and corrected the mistake. Shelves from 2 other RICs were also missing. I told the installer and he said he doesn't show shelves on his plans. I showed him my drawings and he said I would have to call the company. No big deal, I thought. After my installation was complete, I was asked to sign a document which I assume was agreeing to the installation. Everything had gone relatively well by that point so I did not hesitate signing. After installation, I noticed that a part of my wall in the WIC was damaged. I also noticed some sloppiness with the glue connecting panels in the WIC. I also noticed lots of metal dust on my children's room floors. The installer grinded the metal rods inside my kids' room. After installation, the remaining 5K was paid. I called Closets By Design and explained that I was missing shelves in 2 RICs. Angela explained that I did not pay for shelves in those respective closets. I explained that I was quoted a price based on my original drawings which included shelves. The shelves were "whited-out" on the version submitted by my salesperson. My original drawings were modified with white-out after I signed and paid the deposit. This was never approved by me. This is unethical and illegal! Angela said I could buy the shelves I was missing at $33/shelf. I explained that's not right as I was charged a price based on a drawing that included shelves. She explained that the shelves were never actually included in the price I paid. I told her that's very slimy to change my design without my approval and after I submitted a deposit. She became snarky and said she wasn't going to argue with me. She would give me the shelves for "free" but I have to pick them up at their location and they would dock the salesman's commission. I would also need to measure the shelving area again. Upon measuring the shelving area in one of my RICs, I noticed that there was a 2"difference in width from top to bottom. The center panel was installed at a slant causing different widths for adjoining shelves. I called the company to explain and ask for advice. Angela explained that that happened because my walls must not be straight. I used a 48" level on the side panels which were perfectly perpendicular to the floor. It's the center panel that is not straight. Angela became very defensive repeating how they are "being nice" by giving me "free shelves". She also said they would make shelves at different widths for that area. This negates the purpose of being able to move shelves up and down as our needs change. The proper solution is to send the installer out to fix the panel. Again, Angela was very snarky and rude. She said "that's not going to happen" and she's being "nice enough to give me free shelves!" I don't want free shelves that I cannot move around as designed because of poor installation! I requested to speak with her manager. She laughed at me and said "I'm the owner." So there's that. The owner of this company is completely awful and doesn't accept any responsibility that they illegally modified my drawings and failed to conduct a proper installation. She refuses to remedy the situation properly, but instead kept saying she's being nice by giving me "free" shelves. I asked her what will happen when I want to move the shelves up or down and they don't fit? Also, that this is a liability as this is my children's closet and an unstable shelf can fall on them. Angela laughingly said, "I don't really care" and "you can order more shelves when you need to move them". I really regret using this company and Angela made sure to let me know that they "also regret working with certain customers". They didn't regret taking my 10K and not giving me what I paid for. They also don't regret being unethical and illegally modifying contracts. Angela again stated "she does not really care." This is how they treat customers once they've paid in full. I refuse to order "free" shelves of different widths and don't want to deal with Angela or her horrible, unethical, closet company ever again and the garbage product they deliver. Closets by Design installed a system in my walk-in on August 1. From my first contact with them through the installation, I found everyone to be responsive and professional. My designer Claudia met with me in my home, discussed my requirements, took measurements, and completed the basic design during her visit. I was unfamiliar with closet systems and requested a visit at the showroom to see the actual product. This was quickly arranged. During the visit we finalized the plan and we signed the contract. I highly recommend taking the time to visit the showroom. The company kept me updated during the approx 4 weeks required to build the system, and it was completed and installed on the agreed upon date. The installer team of Solomon and Gary arrived on time and worked very efficiently to install the system. Again they were very polite and skilled at their job. I have now worked with the system for a few weeks and it is perfect! I found the cost fair and reasonable. I recommend Closets by Design and plan to use them in the future. read more

I read the reviews just prior to installation and freaked out because I did have a few problems with the admin office after the salesman did his part. However, I must say my installer was the complete opposite of what I've read here by others, THANKFULLY. The closet is beautiful, it seems quite sturdy, and I'm told there is a 7 year warranty. If you are concerned about your project ask for George who designed mine and made great recommendations that panned out and Daniel who did the installation. The place was spotless when he finished. If you're looking for a rewarding experience, good value and results that make you happy- RUN AWAY in the opposite direction as quickly as you can. All smiles and glad-handing when the deal is made and deposit is given - good luck getting any service or attention thereafter - and be prepared for no-show installers, smarmy attitude, and general lack of concern from anyone who works there. They don't even pretend to care - the higher up you go, the worse it gets. Our order was for multiple areas of the home in the tens of thousands of dollars. Many weeks late, incomplete delivery, hidden shortcuts/faulty materials, and zero respect for the time of others. Installer NEVER arrived with all the hardware or pieces to complete the job - and many parts wrong size or defective. You can do better at IKEA for a lot less - you'll wind up fixing this company's work anyway with your own tools anyway. Do not confuse other franchises of this name with the Closets by Design SOUTHEAST FLORIDA. We've had good experience with the Palm Beach franchise, so we never expected such a terrible experience from start to finish. read more

I'm sorry that I did not read the reviews before calling them for closets. This was a horrible experience and they have no idea what they are doing. From the " designer" to the installer. The only competent one from the company was Leo. He came and had to single handily fix 2 entire closest that were installed all wrong. The original installer could have cared less. When you call the office to talk to a "manager", Laura gets on the phone. She clearly has not be trained in any customer service and was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Has zero interest in what you have to say and could care less about the company. All around... horrible experience. You should really pay attention to these reviews before signing. My closet was installed in May. That alone was an issue at first. We were initially promised they would come to install it 3-4 weeks from us signing the contract. They called me and then said it would be middle of June. I had to fight to tell them I was told in May and finally they caved. The guy who installed was very nice, but he was missing parts, a valet rod and tie rack. A few days later they were dropped at my house. The valet rod was missing parts so still wrong. It took me 3 months that get someone to drop a new valet rod. Since it took so long I asked for extra shelves. I received the rod and the extra shelves just last week. Guess what, it's missing parts as well. We called and scheduled an appt. for today for them to come and install the rod themselves. They just called and cancelled the appt. The appt. was from 9-11am!!! My husband stayed home from work for this. They literally had the nerve to say "we will call you back when we can schedule you again". No problem, I'll have a chat with my cc company since the work is still not complete after 3 months. read more
