I scheduled an appointment for and the representative arrived on time. The representative who was courteous and nice asked what I wanted in my design. I was recreating a walk-in closet from a spare bedroom. She took measurements and began to create the design. It took about an hour. The walls in this bedroom were literally just painted and I mentioned that to her and she said she wasn't doing anything to the walls... I was not happy with that attitude. At the end of our appointment I asked if she was going to give me a copy of the design and she said, "no". I asked if she was going to email it, she said "no". I asked if I could take a picture of it, she said "no". I wanted to be able and sit in my new room and visualize what she designed before I gave answer to do the project. Then I asked if I had questions would she be able to come back, she said "no she didn't have time she was too busy". The price she gave was, I thought, very reasonable, but I really wanted to review the design that she had created. All I was allowed to have was the quote for the project and I had until Friday to guarantee the price. I can only assume that she didn't trust me not to go with my own builder, which is why she didn't give me the design she created...I'll never know...but if you can't trust your client, that goes both ways. I just didn't like the attitude and the lack of transparency. I passed on the project, they lost a customer and I went with another company even if I had to pay more, the other company let me keep the design and schedules time for me if I have questions. The representative from Closets by Design has been only doing this for 3 years. Extremely happy with the Closets be Design that was installed in our walk-in closets and a reach-in closets. Their designer, Eddie, gave us great use of the spaces available. Not only great use of space, but very sturdy (we had those cheap wire shelves before) and they look great. Installers were courteous and efficient. Just had my laundry room done by closets by design. They did a great job and I got the amount of storage I was looking for.

Called on June 12th to schedule a consult. It was scheuled for 14 June. Noone called or showed up. Called back on the 14th. The rep apologized and told me someone would call on the next business day. Fast forward to June 24th, I called again, they said they couldnt view my profile because a different location was closer. The designer was very easy to work with. However, they had to come out a second time because they put up hangers instead of shelves like the original drawing had. Not sure why there was a mix up in this. In addition, the final result does not look professionally done. There are huge gaps visible between the closet and the floor and the closet and the walls. They will not fix this because everything is "an add on." The quality of the build is not representative of the price I paid. My husband is going to have to finish the closet himself. *Also, make sure your closet is ready for the build beforehand (paint, fill in any holes from previous hangers, etc) read more

Fast response, good design, excellent installation. Installer was very good, everything was left clean and in perfect order.

We had our closets installed on Tuesday, September 26 (after waiting two months from the date we signed the contract) and I was extremely disappointed with the outcome. The closet system seems to be made from cheap material that is easily damaged as it has already been chipped from installation. While the installers were polite and maintained a professional demeanor in our home, the installation itself does not appear to have been professionally completed. First, as mentioned above, there were several chips/impressions and smudges in the wall sidings made during the installation. Second, when breaking down the existing closets, we were told that the installers would be careful not to damage our walls and that, at most, we may have to retouch or repaint any unpainted areas that were revealed after removal of the existing structure. However, the installers severely damaged our walls and their attempts to repair the damage was sloppy and ineffective. As a result, we had to incur additional costs to repair the damage. Overall, we are very unhappy with this experience and with our closet system. We did not receive a custom closet of the quality and value that we expected at this price point. I reached out to our designer the day after the install to express our disappointment; she responded the day after saying that she was sorry for the work and that she would pass along my email to her install manager to resolve the issue. I followed up on that email this morning and still have not heard back from the manager with even an acknowledgement. It is beyond disappointing that this company does not seem to care about its customers after the contract is signed and the bill is paid. read more

Very disorganized and unprofessional. I ordered the closet in July and had to contact them to schedule installation. 2 weeks prior to installation, I was contacted and asked to provide my own hardware, which I never agreed to do. The installers decided to change the installation plan without discussing with me, so I had have an electrician come and move my light switch. They also did not have all of the pieces so had to schedule a return. Once again, I had to contact them to schedule it and they did it 3 weeks in advance (missing 1 door and said it would take 1 week.) The Friday before the appointment, I contacted them to confirm and was told someone would get back to me. I called them the day of installation and they said that the door had not arrived yet. 2 weeks later, they finally have the door and call me to confirm the time of installation. (We never confirmed a day so confirming a time caught me off guard.) I was then told that they have an important $6000 job to do first and don't know when they will arrive. Needless to say, I am upset that my $5500 is not important to them. it has been a series of unprofessional encounters and I wish I had chosen a different company. The product itself is fine. The designer at Closets by Design was very helpful and didn't try to push me to buy something I didn't want or need. Installation was a bit delayed vs. what was estimated but it was within reason. One door was left off the truck so we had to wait a few weeks for that to be installed. All in all very happy with the quality and layout. read more

I had a great experience with closets by design. I am bad with names but my designer was very friendly and she designed a great closet for our awkward closet, we have slanted ceilings. The installers we efficient and polite and did a great job. There were some minor imperfections that my husband fixed humself. All in all i would reccomend closets by design. read more

The closet organizer was installed when they said it would be. The Sales lady told us because of the hvac vent on the floor they would vent it out and there would be a vent cover on the outside. When installed the worker said he forgot the vent cover and it would be dropped off the following day. The hole for the vent is perfectly oval set for the cover. Two days later I called and they again told be they would be in my area and it would be dropped off. A very long story cut short, after my numerous calls and e-mails I was told by the sale lady that there never was a vent cover and I was mistaken. I guess their design includes a hole in the bottom of your closet for dust to collect. When we show people our closet we bring up the hole as part of Closet by Design style. STAY AWAY from this company. If that is the best they can do please find someone else. Customer service is a word they never heard of. read more

Had a terrible experience with this company. They charged me $7500 for installing cabinets snd paneling in my garage. Not only was the service extremely delayed but they did not finish the paneling on my garage wall. Leaving half of one wall completely bare. When confronted about it, they pointed to fine print in the contract stating that this is what I signed up for. When the sales rep assured me in person that the entire wall would be paneled. I paid 2/3 on the rate and held the remaining 1/3 until they complete the job. Now these scammers are threatening to proceed to collections. Strongly recommend not using this company. read more

They jerked me around for months, they did part of the install but it took forever, they made a mess of the design for my laundry room, they lost our counter top twice and then could not come up with a reason why it was lost, the office staff knows nothing, the designer is a hot mess, the owner is just as bad, and to top it off our job never got finished, they are terrible , no customer service, no pride in their work , terrible stay far away and go with the other guy . Stay far away from this company. They will knock down walls to sign a new contract but they don't finish. Their work isn't horrible nor is it great. They lack professionalism, customer service skills and integrity . I've literally placed over 30 calls to get them to return to complete a job that was paid for. They disappeared and have refused to return any calls. I've never seen anything like this. I don't know how they maintain a business presence. I should have read a few reviews prior to working with this company. They will give you a major headache. Do not use this company. read more
