I saw glowing recommendations for closet works and had them design our 2 closets. It took about 2 weeks of back and forth to get the design right which was fine and then 2.5 months later they were installed. Start to finish it was nearly 3 months for just 2 walk in closets. When we got our closets, there were several issues with my closet. They had to fix it almost 3 times...My closets weren't any special kind of closet... it was standard melamine. I was exhausted with removing things and putting things back in the closet for the fixes. They tried to fix things as quick as they could so I'll give them that. I don't think I'll use them for a bigger cabinetry project but for smaller, simpler projects it could be fine in the future. They were definitely affordable... but they seem overwhelmed. also no credits or concessions were offered for a future project and if I want to fix certain things a bit more, I'd have to pay for it... ehh read more

Can you say Spectacular, I can. Just moved into a 700SF apartment in Fishtown after selling my condo in North Liberties which also closet works did (full closet renovation and added 2 8 foot closets ). Anyhow, Barry comes by and sees my place and it's all ADA compliant with horrible closet design. So he looks it over and says he can make me 3 separate closets. He measures, even told me about my laundry room and how I can add wire racks for storage space. Barry. Brilliant. So he does 3 designs: Coat Closet , main bedroom closet and a built in dresser closet alongside the main closet. Designs were amazing with all details and measurement specs. So in 2 weeks Zach the installer comes by with all the materials. I'm telling you now, in like 15 minutes he has the coat closet done,,, the main closet like in an hour and half and the dresser in like 45 minutes. Zach was all business getting this installed. And man just friggin' amazing, Best Closets I've ever had. Lets review: Coat Closet has 2 main hanging bars with room for 60 coats (wow),, then above like 8 storage shelves. WOW. Main Closet is just a plethora of hanging bars and shelves , plenty of room for everything, and trust me my wife has about 4000 outfits to her name. So here's the best ,, Barry put in a 7 level dresser drawers wow just amazing drawers slide like oil on a slip n slide,, I mean huge stage space in the drawers,, F Ikea,, they dont stand a chance to what Closet Works offers. I'm telling you best dresser drawers ever. Ikea gives you that shit plastic glide crap, Closet Works gives you the real Steel deal tracks. So then there's the dresser closet like 7 feet tall with about 16 LARGE shelve areas. PLENTY of room for evertything... But the pièce de résistance are the doors: 7 foot high doors done in Eucalyptus Green Matte color,, like right out of Italy... Wow , I meant Closet Works, Barry and Zach rule big time. read more

We worked with Barry Lassoff at Closet Works and had an absolutely amazing experience. We purchased closet systems for 4 closets in our house (two master bedroom closets and two guest room closets). Barry was very patient and helpful as we worked through a few revisions to the drawings. Once we had the drawings finalized we went to the showroom to select the materials and finishes. Once we had finalized all of the plans, we executed a contract and paid the deposit. Soon after we received a call to schedule our installation. The installation took two days. Jill our salesperson was delightful. She came out and took measurements and sent us multiple diagrams of the new closets. A few weeks later, the installer came out. Susan Fuller was amazing. I talked to several closet places and they all were selling the same standard cabinets that they were going to make fit into the space. Susan came and was very thorough and made sure she maximized the amount of storage room I would have and make custom cabinet that would fit my space. She gave me several excellent options on how to bring to life my vision of a wall of storage. In any service oriented industry the customer is always king and the ownership of The Closet Works fails to grasp this basic concept. Their motto is as a customer you will be thrilled however they failed the basics of good customer service. In searching for an alternative service provider to outfit my home office and living room with an entertainment center I found The Closet Works on Yelp, Houzz and Angie List. I quickly scheduled an appointment and one of their designers was scheduled to visit my home to discuss my project, designs and take detailed measurements. We spent over 90 minutes in the 1st appointment. Let me start by saying the designer was great and at her request after the 1st appointment i drove 90 minutes to their showroom to see samples and finalize the design. Upcoming finalization of the design I was provided a price for the overall project was which MSRP. Closet Works portrays the MSRP as the price a customer would pay and then subsequently they have a very cleaver marketing ploy where they claim to discount the MSRP 40% and then another 5% of the price. The customer believes they are getting a great deal whereas the MSRP is grossly inflated to begin with. Prior to seeking a closet service provider for these two projects, my living room entertainment center and office, I had bid out the two projects to 6 different custom woodworkers/cabinet makers as I wanted real wood. I quickly learned that real wood products would be cost prohibitive based on my budget and was recommended i select a provider who worked with melamine/particle board which is the speciality of closet providers likeThe Closet Works. When I received the price from Closet Works for this project I quickly found out that their price was onpar to the custom woodworkers/cabinet makers. Like any good consumer i requested to speak with the ownership of The Closet Works and the owner contacted me to discuss my concerns. Rather than trying to address my concerns the owner started to lecture me on his $30 million dollars of sales over the last 30 years and 75% close rate with customers. The ownership of Closet Works clearly is not customer oriented and they made no attempts to earn my business, rather i felt insulted and spoken down to. My strong recommendation would be to find other providers who respect, value and want to earn your business. read more

I first hired The Closet Works about 7 years ago and we couldn't have been happier with the experience. We had a huge walk-in closet (a room, really) beautifully designed and installed and it's a total showpiece in our home. We liked it so much, that we later had them also install design and install a media cabinet in our guest room. The quality of the work is solid, it looks good and the designer we have worked with has always been great about meeting our needs. Where we've run into problems is with their customer service, which was never excellent but seems to be getting worse and worse. We had a few shelf pieces in our closet collapse completely. The first time it happened, we just assumed it was somehow our fault and paid to have it replaced. When the second piece collapsed, we asked that they investigate for some kind of structural issue or problem with the installation. This was like pulling teeth, but ultimately they realize there was some kind of defect and replaced it. Now it it's happened to a third piece, and they are barking at the idea of coming out to secure the shelves so they don't continue to collapse. These are the tops of what essentially amount to little open "cubbies" under a window, so there is literally no weight on top of them, yet they keep collapsing. It wouldn't be a huge issue, but the fact that the company continue to refuse to take responsibility is both unprofessional and annoying. We also had a misunderstanding when an installer went ahead and installed the closet pieces in my son's room before my contractor had finished prepping and painting the walls. Our designer told us she had said to the installer not to do it, but he went ahead and did it anyway. The company then tried to charge me for the removal and reinstallation, even though this was clearly a miscommunication between their own personnel. Then today, when I called for status update on a piece that is being rebuilt for us, I was told the order had been held for over a month because I had not called in with a deposit. Excuse me? I've completed rehabbed two houses and never worked with a company that refuses to call the customer to take a deposit, and just sits on the order for a month, waiting for me to call them. If you do choose to hire them, plan to stay very on top of things. read more

Why has no one reviewed this business before? They do an amazing job of configuring your available space and turning it into a big giant closet. I was referred to this company by a friend who had a small bedroom converted into a fabulous walk-in closet. They had had all kinds of estimates and consults, but said this company was the best and most reasonably priced. My job was much smaller - just converting one wall into closet space - but Closet Works was great. Barry came and did the design on the spot, provided a very reasonable estimate, and set up a time for the installation. Josh came to my house and turned my wall into a beautiful closet in about an hour. He was so courteous and professional, and the room was spotless after he finished. The company called the day before the installation to remind me of the appointment, and they provided me with the name of the person who would be coming out. Excellent communication and customer service. And my old house that previously had two puny closets hidden in very inconvenient corners now has one big fabulous closet/shelf unit.
