On the positive side, the staff were consistently friendly, kind, and clearly care about the dogs. They created a welcoming environment, and we appreciated their kindness. Unfortunately, the experience itself didn't quite work out for us. Our dog is an intact male, and he ended up in a group with all females, one of whom had recently gone through a heat cycle. The facility allows females who have recently been in heat, but unfortunately their scent just isn't conducive to a group social setting like this, especially for young intact males. The first week this happened we assumed it was just a temporary challenge and gave it the benefit of the doubt, but the issue continued during our next session. The scent was simply too distracting for him- and even other females were distracted by the scent. Our dog who normally socializes well in other group settings, became too fixated and overstimulated for any type of learning or appropriate social interaction. We really tried to give this facility a fair shot and came back again hoping for a better experience, but ultimately our dog had to remain leashed the entire session time, which completely defeats the purpose of a social/play session. We have now found a facility with stricter guidelines around females in heat.

I messed up and had to change the date and they responded with "no problem, we adjusted, look forward to speaking to you." When we finally had our phone consultation both my husband and I fell in love with Ursula's bubbly personality and knowledge. She spoke to us about our dog's issues and made some suggestions for immediate help and then suggested a trainer for anxiety. But we wanted to make sure we could try with her first so we are setting up an in person as we feel she can definitely help us and our dog. They are responsive, understanding and truly care. Ursula listened carefully to our concerns and gave us great suggestions and feedback. So I cannot recommended them highly enough just based on that. BUT I know we will love her when we start training (and I'll definitely update my review!)

Ursula and Dennis, are not only dog whisperers but are easy to communicate with, quick to respond to any questions or concerns and are all around two of the nicest people we've met in Portland. They did not promise a "quick fix" but rather provided us with a foundation of rules and tools to help improve both our lives and Habibi's life. We enrolled Habibi in the Lodge & Learn program, and we could't be happier or more impressed with the results; he came out obedient, confident but still his goofy self. Honestly, we were anxious to to trust someone with our baby for an entire month but after speaking with Ursula on the phone, we felt confident he would be in good hands and that the Lodge and Learn program was the right fit for him. The transition from our home to their place, was the hardest part, but also went flawless and was executed perfectly. Once he was back at their place we constantly got pictures & texts to update us on his progress and they always felt like just a text or phone call away. They have continued to be impactful and available in Habibi's training once he has been home. He continues to grow and improve thanks to their love, training and guidance. The visible changes Habibi has shown speaks volumes to the program they run & the people they are. During a recent pedicure at Angel Nails, I noticed the Zoom Room so I told my husband about it and he signed us up for a free intro class. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweetest person and the front desk. She got us checked in and took our pup's first day photo - adorable. After getting checked in we waited and browsed their merchandise which included a lot of training treat options that we hadn't seen before. When it was time for class to begin, we got settled at our station. The trainer was kind and funny and taught us a few new things. Our puppy was very excited and interested in the other dogs but we eventually got her to pay attention to us about halfway through the class. Overall we had a good experience, but did find class to be a bit distracting with the various puppies and parents in attendance. We may consider returning for private training sessions in the future.

He has learned so much these past few months and is currently in advanced obedience, agility fundamentals, and tricks 1. We always look forward to our Zoom Room days and he met his best dog friend here as well! Such a great community of trainers and people and of course doggos. The puppy parties have been really fun as well and a nice way to connect with other zoom room members and fur babies.
