This has been my dental office since I moved to Portland in 2000 - I used to drive to Beaverton from NE Portland and then from Lake Oswego to come to this office, even though there were more than enough options closer to home (luckily I live much closer now, but it was always worth the drive). When Dr. Ballard created Cloud Nine here a couple of years ago, I naturally had some feelings of a hesitation as I said goodbye to my retiring dentist of nearly 15 years. But those feelings melted away over many visits for myself and my kids (my husband, parents-in-law and brother-in-law are patients too). The atmosphere at Cloud Nine is super friendly and Dr. Ballard and his team have made the office feel modern yet comfortable, with nice touches and extras that make us feel pampered. The dental care and advice I receive here is provided in a way that makes me feel a part of the process. I feel like the team here treats the whole person, not just a mouth, a tooth, or a cavity. Please check out all information about this Dentist! After being referred by, Zodoc, I then did my 411! I went for an interview for metal braces. Afterwords the male receptionist said that my $600 was not refundable unless I used Doctor Washington for my braces. Had numerous problems with her and several staff members. I could mention the teenager boy's name and his mother's name, but I don't want to get sued! The way the gossip went on in this office, MAN!! I even pulled, Dr. Washington aside and told her what was being said. Dr. Washington and her team member just went on and on about how his mother didn't bring him in when his bracket broke! I usually don't post negative comments unless my experience was such that warrants it. Cloud 9 Dental- Dr. Washington on Rayford Sawdust is one where professional improvements are needed in communication, finances, scheduling, and building rapports with patients. Some of the reviews I have read with the last 6 months are similar to my concerns. The old cliche/idiom that states all good things must come to an end often times is true. I originally wrote two outstanding reviews on Dr. Erica Washington within my years of being a patient. I was so impressed with her professionalism, the cleanliness of the establishment, and most of all, the customer service of her team. I was inclined to prepare the review because it was too good to be true. However, within the last month (April 2025), Cloud 9 Dental under the leadership of Dr. Erica Washington's has not been impressive. The professionalism, lack of communication and returning calls has been below subpar. I received a treatment plan in February 2025 and wanted to get some additional dental work done. I called to get clarity on what she suggested should be done first on my treatment plan, my insurance and the plan of payment that benefitted me via interest-free. Heather gave feedback on what she thought and gave me an appointment, proceeded to run my credit card without answering all of my questions. One of my reasons for calling was to inquire about a previous credit that had not been applied. After several times calling and asking, her reply has always been, "I will ask Doc". After I mentioned that I was only inquiring, she stated she didn't mean to run the card and she could not refund the payment. Then is when the attitude and unprofessionalism began. I was informing her that in the past, a payment was not required two weeks before my appointment. Heather proceeded to inform me this was the way it is. Likewise, this practice was why the other lady was "no longer working there". This was an absurd comment as I never inquired about the previous administrative assistant. Nonetheless, after this comment, I asked Heather to have Dr. Washington to call me so that we could discuss the matter moving forward with a plan, etc. As of April 22, 2025, I have yet to receive that returned phone call. Today, I decided I'd call once more after 7 total attempts including going to the office on Thursday, April 17, 2025 along with a follow-up call while I was there. On April 22, 2025, I spoke with Heather and she informed me Dr. Washington "doesn't speak with her patients on the phone". I am certain this is untrue and was taken aback as Dr. Washington has called me multiple times to discuss the treatment plan, scheduling/rescheduling appointments, etc. The final statement that Heather informed me was the confirmation I needed to move forward. She stated "Well, I can't make her call you back". In this day in time, it is imperative that establishments that I spend my money (as a paying customer), treat me with the respect and dignity that I provide. This includes having the common decency and courtesy to return phone calls. I patronize businesses to my liking for many reasons. However, I will not be returning to Dr. Erica Washington-Cloud 9 Dental on Rayford Sawdust. A great working relationship and rapport of all of my medical staff has always been a staple for me. Reconsider Cloud 9 Dental for your dental needs/services. My family and friends in which I have referred will be moving as well to a dentist and staff that cares. I wish no ill will on Cloud 9 Dental and wish Dr. Washington the very best but, there are improvements that were once there, that are not anymore. I just want to give everyone an honest opinion of my experience here. I loved it when I had originally came in for dental work to be done. They had set my 6 month check-up after my appointment 6 months in advance. The week came for my appointment and I got my schedule on a Saturday 2/15/25 to work during my appointment 2/18/25. They were closed Saturday so like any human would do, I did not call to try to reschedule, I waited for their next business day. Unfortunately they are closed on Mondays and my appointment was Tuesday 2/18/25. I called at 7:30am to reschedule and never got a call back about rescheduling my appointment. I called back up again Wednesday 2/19/25. When the call went through an unfamiliar voice answered the phone, a RECEPTIONIST I had never heard before. She told me I would have to pay a $50 fee for cancellation, except I tried rescheduling. When I asked her a simple yes or no question if the paperwork I signed said I could call on the weekends, she would go on and on about something completely off subject. I asked.. Ms. Heather its a simple yes or no or I don't know. She was very rude and inconsiderate about how she was talking to a customer. So I head up there and she tells me... she can print out the paperwork. GIRL why did you not just say "yes, its in the paperwork" on the phone?! Then when I try to rebuttal and say it doesn't say I can call on weekends. She then rolled her eyes at me saying I was getting on her nerves and told me to go home. I walked out to my truck, and she started taking pictures of my truck. I then went to get a picture of her and she hid behind the corner. I will not be coming back here due to their receptionist Ms. Heather and her terrible attitude. Do Better!! read more

I came here for a second opinion on a tooth that a previous dentist told me I needed a root canal and spend $2,000 to save the tooth. When I first stepped into this place I was in awe with the decor. It was beautiful. I fell in love. But the cautious person I am I thought, "Wait, she has to be expensive." But I was referred here by a friend so I wanted to give it a shot. She was extremely professional and took her time to explain everything to me. She said I had a small cavity and that I needed a filling. She told me it was $80!!!! Unfortunately my experience was horrible. To begin with I went in for a root canal and they were doing mouth rinse with peroxide and water which was fine except for the fact the young lady who I entrusted handed me a cup that was already sitting on the counter and asked me to rinse so I did. It turned out to be bleach! I spit it out and told her it was bleach the entire time she had her back to me and ensured me it was just peroxide and water. I had to tell her to get me water and a paper towel as I felt my tongue tingle form the warm saltiness of the bleach. She then took the cup and smelled it and walked out the room not even asking if I was ok. She told the assistant which was and older woman who laughed it off and did it was fine. She asked if I was ok and made light of the situation. I was already feeling uneasy for my first major procedure. As the dentist came in she was unaware of what happened and began working on my root canal. She is rather quiet while working and does not explain things as she goes. The root canal went well. On my way out I told the receptionist what happened she was very sincere and polite and took note and she was the one to tell the dentist who asked me why I had not told her. I was then scheduled to return for my crown I was hesitant but had no other option. I returned for my crown she fitted it and since I didn't know how it was supposed to feel I entrusted her work. I did find I had sensitivity and issues flossing when I called to ask about it I was told it was because it was new and it needed to settle. My concerns were dismissed and I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. It was upsetting since this was my first dentist I had been to and was excited to finally get my teeth worked on. A year after I'm still having issues with my crown so I sought out a. We dentist who took xrays and told me the crown was ill fitting and that is the cause of my ongoing tooth sensitivity and gum bleeding even with daily flossing. The crown is too big and was not shaped correctly. I reached out to Washington's office with the X-rays for help but needed up without a proper resolution after over 3 weeks. I'm very upset and disheartened with my entire experience and would not recommend this office. read more

Don't expect to get your refund or your calls returned when Dentist double dips. I have called several times and she has receptionist talk to me, it's been weeks and yet to hear from her. Do however expect her to charge you and get her money. and not once has Dr.Washington had the desency to call me back I spent over 10k on my wife's dental work only to have her work half ass done she came home with blisters in the roof of her mouth because assistant rushes through her "work" my wife was in severe pain but didn't want to go back to have it corrected in fear they would hurt her again,so she dealt with agonizing pain and blisters not to mention the bruising all along both sides of her jaw where she was held to open her mouth. They cut the roof of her mouth with machine and tell her " well you shouldn't have moved " like really?!? I have enclosed pictures for those who do not believe. And I have many more as I am not happy! My only regret was allowing my wife to spend my hard earned money with such a poor quality place of business. read more

Dr Washington was wonderful! Just recently moved to Houston and looking for a new dentist, decided upon Cloud 9 dental. Glad I did. I hadn't been to a dentist in a while, and I had a problem tooth that needed checking. The cleaning and xrays were painless and thorough and Dr Washington examined the problem tooth and told me there was nothing wrong with it, probably due to my grinding.
