Cloud Nine Catering catered my wedding at the Ellie Mitchell Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park, and I could not be happier with the entire experience. First off, the food. The food was amazing. I loved it. Our parents loved it. Literally everyone I talked to love it. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and delicious. One of the highlights of the first day of married life was devouring the leftovers (yes, they help you package those to take them home - you paid for them, after all!). I honestly can't pick one aspect of our menu that trumped the others, it was all so delightful. The appetizers were great, the main course (we did a buffet) was amazing, and the desserts (we had an assortment) were splendid. Second, the staff. Everyone that worked on our reception was great. Erin's clear communication made planning everything a breeze, and Desiree's oversight ensured that everything went smoothly during the event. Cloud Nine will transport a set amount of materials to the venue for you (we had them transport our table numbers and runners). The Ellie Mitchell Pavilion has a super strict timeline, so this was a huge help. Being that its a historic building, the Pavilion also has really strict rules about where, how, and when the food can be prepared. Cloud Nine takes all of that in stride every time they cater an event there, and made sure everything was executed in compliance with the policies. Knowing I was in such good hands took a huge amount of stress off of me during that day! Third, the staff again. This was huge. During the reception, Cloud Nine puts someone in charge of making sure the bride and groom has all the food and drink they need during photos, etc before the entrance. AMAZING. This meant that we actually got to enjoy the delicious appetizers, rather than having to miss out. It also meant that we got to enjoy a beverage and take a minute to relax! Fourth, the pricing. Catering a large event is never very economical, regardless of who caters it. I think that Cloud Nine offers an amazing service at a very reasonable price. In addition, Erin was incredibly accommodating in creating a menu that not only covered all of the food and drink we wanted, but also fit within our budget. Honestly, I have nothing but glowing reviews of Cloud Nine catering. I wish that we didn't live in CA and could stop by their cafe for a bite to eat! We chose Cloud Nine as the full service caterer for our wedding. Full disclosure, we spent a lot of time before going with Cloud Nine trying to figure out how to keep the price tag as low as possible. Saying that, I think choosing Cloud Nine was one of the best decisions I made throughout this crazy wedding process. The food was, of course, delicious, but Erin, our coordinator, was the real shining star. Extremely capable and detailed oriented, Erin was able to work off my vague ideas without constant direction. I can't tell you how valuable that was through all the craziness! If I had an opinion on something she, of course, incorporated it promptly but if I didn't she just went off and created something beautiful that went perfectly with our general idea. Great place to stop for a delicious sandwich. Route 1 Right off 95 exit 68 or 67 and at the very end of route 9. Good soups, salads and breakfast sandwiches. I think they are open tues-sat 8-2:30. They apparently do alot of catering cause they have lots of vans and there are always a ton of people running around doing unrelated deli stuff. read more

Can I give 20 stars? 50? 100? Cloud Nine catered my wedding at a venue that they own called The Lace Factory. The Lace Factory is an old lace factory (surprise!!!!), that feels rustic and Manhattan Loft-ish all at once. It was absolutely the perfect place for my wife and me to tie the knot, but it wouldn't have been possible if not for the staff at Cloud Nine. From day one, they worked with us to help us stretch our very strict budget to still accommodate everything we wanted. They helped us make specific choices to keep costs down, and allowed us to be very DIY where a lot of other places wouldn't (we brought our own music, decorations, photographer, etc. A lot of places won't let you do that because of insurance purposes or the like). We worked with their crew (specifically Erin) for over a year, and they were always on top of everything we needed, quick to respond, and very willing to deal with our last minute changes and they kept us in the loop when things got hairy (our wedding took place the Saturday after hurricane Sandy). Erin and crew were a great resource for new ideas and not shy to tell us when things we wanted just wouldn't work. They're very trustworthy, fair, and frankly insanely nice. I've seen people come down to the wire freaking out about the food and venue for their wedding, but those were the things we worried the least about because we were in such good hands. Erin gave us so much of her valuable time between planning our menu and schedule, to our walk through, to even being our eyes and ears on the ground when some of our hotels weren't responding to us. On the day of the wedding, the entirety of the staff was incredible. And the food!!! For catering clients, Cloud Nine hosts seasonal tastings, but as luck would have it, my wife and I couldn't make it to any of them. The only food from there that we had tried were some cake samples, so on the day of the wedding, if I had any "gee, I wonder..." thoughts, it was about the food. I've heard people use the phrase "it was pretty good for wedding food" at weddings I've been to in the past, but at our wedding, the praise wasn't limited to the wedding context: the food is legitimately great! Because of our budget we had to get less expensive menu items, but it was a hit. The chefs also tried some new things for us that according to Erin they hadn't tried before: they have an option for whoopie pies for dessert and as we were having a fall wedding, we asked if they could make some of them pumpkin flavored, which they did with great success! From the facility to the staff to the food, I really can't say enough great things about Cloud Nine and The Lace Factory. My husband and I got married at the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park on 9/13/13. Cloud Nine was one of three approved caterers; I felt like Goldilocks when we found them - they were just right! One of the other caterers was BEYOND expensive, and the other was way too disorganized. Cloud Nine was perfect - affordable, friendly, organized, and creative. We worked with Erin to pick a buffet menu, along with passed hors d'oeuvres and a beer-and-wine open bar. Erin really worked with our budget and our desires for our menu. We couldn't make the free tasting they offer to contracted couples, so we paid to have a private tasting of our menu. The food was incredible, and we were so happy with our choice! The day of the wedding, every single staff member brought their A-Game from start to finish. Our event manager, Des, was an absolute peach and knew the answers to all our questions before we even asked them! Many of our guests told us they were impressed with how friendly and professional the servers and bartenders were; I felt like a princess the whole day, and I was so happy the staff treated all of our guests that way! The food was absolutely delicious - our hors d'oeuvres were mini crab cakes, stuffed mussels, and BBQ pulled pork on blue tortilla chips. Then we had passed clam chowder, which is literally the BEST clam chowder I've ever had! In fact, we were just at another wedding last night, and a mutual guest started talking about how much they had loved the chowder! Our dinner consisted of a watermelon, tomato, and arugula salad, BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a low-country boil (kielbasa, shrimp, potatoes, and corn boiled together in a white wine broth). I can tell you we were NOT disappointed, and neither were our guests! I will say the mac and cheese was a little bland, but I think it's just because we waited too long to eat it and it had been in the buffet warmers for a little while. We asked some friends who we knew would be honest, and they said they loved it. We also had some vegetarians, and Cloud Nine made a complimentary vegetable lasagna for them! All our veggie friends said the lasagna was incredible! We had some friends and family help set up and break down the decorations, and they all said that everything went 100% smoothly because of Cloud Nine's staff. I couldn't believe how quick, efficient, and organized they were! It was so nice not to have to worry at all about how everything was going to get set up in the two hours we had before the wedding. Everyone says something always goes wrong at your wedding and you just get over it, but truly, nothing went wrong at our wedding at all, and I think these guys played a big role in that! I can't say enough good things about Cloud Nine. In addition to their catering skills, we've also eaten lunch in their cafe, and the food is just out of this world! So yesterday I stopped in for the very first time and boy was I not disappointed. I have been thinking about the wonderful sandwich called the poyo since I consumed it. It was juicy, fresh and the pesto mayonnaise they put on it is pretty much to die for. I went there today with my wife and 11 month old son for takeout. I asked what the soups were. They mentioned a soup with some Mexican name I'd never heard of. When I asked what was in it, the cook guy turned around, clearly very annoyed, throwing up his hands as he forced out a sarcastic answer like I should have known what was in the soup. With my baby and wife present, I maintained my cool but our lunch was ruined as we both felt bad and discussed it afterward. I didn't expect this type of service from such an expensive place. I paid over $27 for two sandwiches, a tiny soup, and a salad. Review of food: 1. My sandwich had barely any strings of meat on it. I felt robbed at the price. 2. The soup was tiny and frankly, it tasted bland. I actually ordered the foreign soup because I felt stupid not to after putting the cook through so much trouble to explain it to me. 3. My wife commented her salad was VERY lacking for a garden salad, mostly being made of lettuce. She complained several times. 4. My wife's tuna melt did look robust and good, although I didn't try it. She didn't complain about it so I assume it was ok. I will NEVER go to this "restaurant" again to be chastised for asking what a soup with a foreign name has in it. By the way, you might want to WRITE the soups on a chalk board at least. Then you won't have to go through the apparently excruciatingly painful process of telling customers what the soup is before they order it. I'm a 41 year old corporate professional. I manage a multi-million dollar contract at a multi-billion dollar global client where I also direct client service and sales. Needless to say, I understand customer service. I do not work hard to over-spend on lunch and be treated like this by people who are clearly clueless. I HIGHLY recommend against spending your money at Cloud Nine Catering. Most of the staff acted like they didn't want to serve customers and the guy who made the soup doesn't belong near customers. Cloud 9 catered my daughter's backyard wedding. The party worked out perfectly, in large part due to the fantastic job this company did. They all had many good ideas for us, and their suggestions were invaluable. They ordered and organized all necessary items: tables, chairs, linens, dishes, etc. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Our guests were really impressed. There was a huge crew of chefs, servers, and staff. They all had smiles on their faces, worked diligently throughout the evening, and were completely accommodating. Wedding planner Tiffany, who helped us out on Friday and Saturday, was wonderful. She was so helpful and kind and encouraging, and handled everything with skill. Hiring Tiffany was one of the best decisions I could have made. Everything happened on time and with expertise. The few minor curve balls were handled quickly and apparently effortlessly.
