This was originally posted to another location of Mystic Market and was my error. This is what was posted and relates to very recent visit to the Old Saybrook location. Had not stopped there in a while and gave them another chance...never again. After waiting for twenty minutes to pay for some salads, got them to a picnic 5 minutes away and literally had to throw the Thai chicken salad out. I'm super disappointed in this restaurant. They have had a crispy cauliflower burrito on their menu for a while now. It was marketed as vegan as it includes vegan cheese and vegan ranch. While I found the burrito was normally more soggy than crispy I was happy to at least have a vegan option. They recently admitted there are eggs cooked with the cauliflower. I am hoping this is a new addition seeing as I had been assured multiple times in the past my food was vegan. Nevertheless the recipe does not make sense. You do not need eggs to cook cauliflower and having a wrap specifically with vegan cheese and dressing and then putting an unnecessary non-vegan ingredient in doesn't make sense and is confusing. Either way I'm hoping they weren't caught in a lie by another patron because I used to eat this wrap, and as I stated previously I was told it fit my dietary restrictions multiple times by staff. Unless the quality is out of this world, then this holds nothing to Eataly... at all. For everyone else, this is great to have a resource to grab & go. Especially during those holiday weekends with shops closing early! There's a variety of pre-made meals and soups, desserts and salad too. There was an excessive amount of honeydew melon, pineapple, and grapes. It was very expensive for what we received and extremely disappointing. The prepared entrees here are GREAT. The Meatballs, stuffed peppers, cowboy pie, mac and cheese, lasagna, beef stroganoff, Swedish meatballs - all of it! The food has never disappointed. That being said... For some reason, the staff here EXPECT TIPS for simply operating the CASH REGISTER. I take the entrees out of the cooler and carry them to the check-out register - where does a tip for the cashier come in? Or even for employees working the salad case? As a rule, tips are for people who wait tables and earn much less than minimum wage for it. The philosophy is that wait staff will hustle to earn a good tip - and tip money really adds up for excellent wait staff. But the employees here are earning at least minimum wage, so there is little reason to tip and surly looks do not equal excellent service. Yesterday I went in and found 1 employee working, while 4 others were lazy bystanders. When I noticed this, I received a smartass remark from the cashier. For her wit, I leave 1 star out of 5. I have been coming to mystic market for a number of years now and always liked the food, especially because they have healthy options and options for vegetarians. I recently visited hoping to find a good vegetarian/vegan soup because they always had at least one option. This time nothing was vegetarian? Even the butternut soup had chicken in it, as well as the mulligatawny soup which traditionally is vegan. I don't know why the chef would decide to do this but it's very disappointing, especially when it's already impossible to find vegan friendly places in the area. Thanksgiving 2024- first time ordering an entire meal....we would do it again. Suprisingly pleased with the whole bird....all sides delicious and plentiful....carrot cake for dessert was amazing. En route to Greenwich two weekends ago, my husband and I stopped here mid-morning. We had hit the road early without having had breakfast so we needed a bite to eat prior to arriving at our final destination. Mystic Market is a clean spacious market and deli. Although it was not officially lunchtime yet, there were only a few people inside. The display cases were ready though for the lunch though and were full of an array of salads, side dishes and sandwiches beautifully presented. We decided to split a large roast beef sandwich on a crusty baguette. It was delicious and filled with a generous portion of sliced roast beef cooked perfectly for our tastes. There was a horseradish type dressing on it along with lettuce, onion and tomato. The baguette was fresh and really good. This was a terrific stop on a road otherwise dotted with the usual array of fast-food options. Just based on presentation and the one sandwich we shared, I'd love if this place was in my town because it seems a place worth frequenting. And the bathroom was clean! read more

Roast Turkey on....yes, gluten free bread. This place serves the good GF bread, not the small cardboard tasting stuff. This is one of those places where you can walk in and walk out with good food. The salads are my go to and they never disappoint. You have the option to grab tuna salad, chicken, chicken salad, and salmon to top off your salad. The sandwiches and soups never disappoint either. One of the big benefits is that you can grab pre-made food for later too! The location is great to run in and run out. Lunch time gets super busy. There are places to sit inside and relax. And I know they do dabble I some breakfast as well. But I haven't tried it. P.S. Grab some dessert... you will not be disappointed. read more

I am usually satisfied with the products I by at Mystic Market. But yesteday, I bought a dinner that stated "Chicken Cacciatore" on the package. This was the farthest thing I have ever tasted for the Cacciatore dish. It was simpley awlful, chicken pieces were very scant but worse than that the preparation was horrible. It was coated with a very heavy either flour or bread crumbs . lYou had to scrape away most of the coating to even see the chicken. . Truthfully it was nauseating, and I threw out most of the entire dish. I hope the cook reads my comment and tries to find an appropriate receipe. The food here is really good. I go for the California BLT sandwich with chipotle's aioli and it's really good. My daughter loves it here too. They have healthy sides to choose from. And great frozen foods. I got a cupcake that was pretty good. I'm never disappointed with the food. And the staff is always nice and friendly. The reason why they got 4 stars is the bathroom was DISGUSTING. A lot of staff were working and standing around and I don't understand why no one was cleaning the bathroom... I went in with my daughter and i was repulsed. There was no toilet paper in 2 out of the 3 stoles and stuff all over the ground and the toilets were dirty!! I felt gross leaving the bathroom.
