Ate a catered work luncheon from here and apart from the usual issues with a large-ish takeout order, everything was fresh, well made, our dietary needs and requests were followed. I will go to their location and update my review with service and ambiance, as well as having the food fresh, hot, and in house. Love this local shop. Great for breakfast or lunch and you can eat in or order to go. They have a lot of options for everyone. You get a 5% discount if you pay cash, if you pay by credit card there is a $15 minimum. Their Thai dishes are fabulous and the best above and beyond, the Dangang salad or chicken satay salad is phenomenal and huge. I love their crispy rolls as well. My daughter and I had found ourselves in Old Saybrook an hour early for an appointment. Driving around we thought, why not grab a bite and see how it is. I hadn't been to Mindy K's in years, but remembered their delicious wraps. How happy we were to have stopped in. Service was exceptionally friendly, prices excellent, and wow what an extensive selection! I am very particular about omelettes, finding them usually tough, thick, and lacking filling. The steak and cheese omelette was perfect! Amazingly both fluffy, thin, and tender, with a generous amount of deliciously caramelized steak and melty cheese filling. Toast was not dry but buttery and perfect. My daughter's egg and cheese sandwich was wonderful also, she loved it. The perfect bun, crisp, soft, and fresh. I had this place bookmarked for lunch while on vacation in the area. Looking for a grinder, I came around 11am, and was the only person inside. I was surprised to see the unique and exciting menu of grinders, wraps, Asian, Italian, Cajun, Mexican, and American offerings. Crazy flavor combinations you won't find anywhere else. I settled on the Cajun steak grinder with peppers, onions, and cheddar. It was awesome! Just the right amount of Cajun spice. I wish I came here sooner in my stay to the area, because they have so much more I want to try. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was chill and quiet, as I was the only customer. A lot of hand written notes everywhere. They accept Amex only after $25, so I grabbed some chips, drink, and a brownie. This place reminds me of Richard's grinders in West Spfld Ma. Would definitely go back when in the area. Pay with cash if you want to grab something under $25. Stale bread, bad meat. I don't typically rate things on yelp but I was so disappointed that I thought I should. I went in at about 11:30 on a weekday to get a turkey sandwich on a roll, I was hungry and driving through and this looked like the perfect place. I normally love deli sandwiches. But the main issue is that the bread was so stale! It was dry and crumbling apart as I took bites. On top of that the deli meat they used tasted extremely salty and processed, it almost had a dishwater aftertaste. I was very disappointed, especially because something online said they're "always fresh". Lastly, I was debating between 2 and 3 stars, but the woman at the counter was a little rude. Wow, this place is a gem. I first went for lunch and had their Banh Mi grinder, Chicken strips with a lightly spiced peanut sauce, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots and cilantro. Rick catered my son's graduation/leaving for boot camp party June 15th. I can't tell you how many of our guests raved about the food and asked where it was from. I have a feeling Mindy K's will be getting some new customers soon. Rick made this party a huge success and I can't thank him enough. His kindness, attention to detail, and pride in his food was so apparent. He made sure we had a server (Gail) who I didn't think we needed but now realized I couldn't have done it without her because Rick knows how to make a party a success. I'm beyond appreciative and thankful for this day and will cherish all the memories made!! Wish I could give more than 5 stars. The man who I assume is the owner came out to see how we liked our food & offered information about how it's prepared. So friendly. I frequent their establishment often and have never had a bad meal. I am always greeted with a smiling face and a pleasant tone. Contrary to other's opinions, I am very appreciative to see their display of a Thin Blue Line flag constructed by a local artisan. This is not in support of Blue Lives Matter. It is a memorial in remembrance of fallen officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice: life lost while protecting the communities they serve from lawlessness. I lost my brother-in-law in the line of duty 16 years ago and it made me happy to see the recognition. Thank you Mindy K's for the great food and for the honor you bestow on our fallen officers.
