The atmosphere is really nice just a little dark, couldn't really see the menu but the hostess had a flash light so that's ok. Love the bar and the staff looks very professional. The food didn't appeal to me. I had the duck and again too dark to see what I was eating but I thought it was over cooked. My wife had the flank steak and it was tougher than the duck. Finally made it for dinner and wow - so good. I had the tuna poke, which was essentially their version of spicy tuna with crispy rice. It was SO good. I did not share. The best thing about this restaurant is the physical space--exposed brick, etc. Unfortunately, the noise level on the Saturday night I visited was deafening, not just "a bit loud" as mentioned in another review. Nor was the food worth it--the menu is appealing, but the items we ordered were either under- or oversalted. Service was ok, with food arriving quickly. If you come here hungry, prepare to leave that way, unless youre prepared to spend $$ additionally on top of beverages and drinks, easy $300 tab for 3 people for a 3 course meal + alcohol which rival some decent steakhouses imo. Now if your idea of a night out is ambiance and atmosphere, then youre in the right place (as it does give off an interesting old vibe). Returned one recent Wednesday afternoon before an author event at Ocean House. We walked around a bit before our reservation at 3p and arrived a little early, before they opened. Lucky for us there were high tables set outside in front of the door so we chilled until someone noticed us and kindly let us in. Being the first to arrive we scored a lovely table for two in the window which allowed for people-watching. The staff were pleasant and helpful as usual. I had a vodka tonic and my friend had seltzer with lime. Or maybe it was lemon, I don't remember. She had a salmon burger (no bun) with a side salad and I had a mushroom burger (no bun) with a side salad. She only ever gets the salmon burger so that says something right there. Again, it didn't disappoint. My mushroom burger was the bomb--a little too well done for my taste but oh so tasty, topped with grilled mushrooms, cheese, a lovely sauce, and a sprinkle of onion strings. To call the side salads that undermines their fabulousness.... mixed greens with the most delicious salad dressing imaginable. Service was fantastic. I love this place and will be back. read more

Qucik bite at The Cafe in Westerly RI! Great place with awesome staff. We were just wanting a small bite because we had dinner plans but we will definitely be going back for a full meal. The oysters were delicious, but I do lovee some oysters. The croquettes were savory, crispy, and delicious. The deep fried artichoke hearts were a new delicious treat to me! Very crisp and then tender in the inside! Very tasty!! Lots of indoor seating, only saw a few outdoor but did not really explore the facility. Very chill, and comfortable inside. Where to begin..... Guess for this one I will start with the exceptional staff...From the host, to the bartender, to the bar manager and everyone in between the staffing has been top notice. It's taken me while to get caught up with reviews, and by now I've stopped in with both family and friends and everyone has been equally surprised and pleased. The unique drink selection is tied to movies and like nothing else you'll get in the area. I am a huge fan of the hummus dish, bread board, and all the pickled plates. Dinner dishes have been equally as pleasing and the deserts are out of this world. Let's get to it! The food: *Creamy Tomato Soup- this dish was as described and perfect for a cold day! What really made the dish for me was the buttery-crispy focaccia bread that came with it. It was sliced in a way that made it perfect for dipping. But hey, I've never met a piece of bread that I didn't like. *Roasted Beet Napoleon-the goat cheese offered a tartness to this particular dish and the texture paired perfectly with the softness of the beets. The saba (most similar to a balsamic dressing I'd say) and pistachio brought the flavor into this dish. The prosciutto, I mean who doesn't love prosciutto ?! This earthy, salty, light, and savory dish is a nice start to any meal. *Cacio E Pepe Fondue: This was a great twist on a charcuterie board. Who doesn't love fondue?! The cheese paired perfectly with the tart and salty dishes offered on the board. The fingerling potatoes were served warm. The apples, paired with the cheese, were a nice sweet and savory pairing. The house made croutons were perfect for the fondue (soft enough to eat but sturdy enough to scoop!). Ambiance: This place is beautiful. Low lighting and covered with art. The relaxing music and calming ambiance offer a perfect date night spot. Service: Our serve matched the energy of this restaurant perfectly. She was informed, efficient, patient, and kind. Parking: Parking can be tricky in season and/or during peak hours. There is parking available on the street. It might me best (depending upon the time) to park on a neighboring street and walk over. Ambience and service is exceptional. Food and drinks are good, but you are paying a very high price. Probably one of the highest in the downtown area. We had a bridal shower brunch for 16 people in the fireplace area. It was a perfect setting. There was room for us to mill around when we first arrived and there were extra tables for gifts and favors. Some of the guests had serious food sensitivities and the staff could not have been more accomodating. They let us set the pace of the event, and the service was impeccable. Each of the guests ordered an entree from the menu, but they served family style appetizers and desserts that were delicious, and more than enough food. I've been meaning to write this review since I ate at The Cafe on Oct. 16. I was spending the day meandering around Watch Hill and Westerly and really just wandered into The Cafe on a whim. Steve Corrigan was doing hosting duties and showed me the menu, which looked promising. Cut to the chase: The food was great (yummy bacon burger with fries) and the beer was local, cold and delicious. The service was super and everyone was friendly and welcoming. If I lived in Westerly, or anywhere in southern Rhode Island, I'd be here all the time. It would be fun to sit at that huge bar and chat with friends over a drink. The Cafe is part of an arts complex that includes the United Theatre next door (three screens), a gallery and a performance rehearsal space downstairs. Rhode Island's NPR network has a small studio there also. It's an impressive arts center that is helping to give downtown Westerly a boost. I love, love, love The Cafe!!! It's, so warm and cozy, chic, charming and the food and service is wonderful! Have you tried their chocolate vinegar cake? It's to die for! Really! Their decor is eclectic and their art collection is museum quality, curated by Hilary Pierce Hatfield, president and lead curator of Art Collector's Athenaeum, a Philadelphia-area company. They wanted to create the feeling of places like Sardi's and the Brown Derby. So my wife comes back from getting her hair did and she says there's a place in Westerly with great burgers. I almost wore jeans and a hoody. I'm glad I didn't because this was a gorgeous place with great food and atmosphere. Our server made great suggestions, was prompt and attentive without hovering (if you know, you know....). I had the Cafe Burger and it and the sweet potato fries were served just right, moist, delicious, perfect. My wife had the salmon burger, she said it was delicious and light but still with the heft and "feel" of a burger, and held together like a burger should as well. This place is awesome. It's HUGE inside. It is beautifully decorated and it has a great ambience. Stephen the manager was funny, personable, and gracious. The other bartenders are all great as well. This is our 3rd visit to The Café. Appropriately named as it's "Bistro" atmosphere is beautifully curated - from the eclectic wall art to the tables and long bar, it feels immediately inviting. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner experience while on vacation. We loved the interior of the restaurant and the service was excellent. We started with the oysters Morgan and deviled eggs. Both were excellent and while I usually do not order deviled eggs at restaurants these were amazing. For dinner we had the miso marinated cod and dry aged sirloin. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly! We were so full but knew we just had to try a desert. It was some sort of sponge cake desert I can't recall the name but it was fantastic. What a nice restaurant!! Ambience is nice service is wonderful and the food is great. We split a special appetizer of deviled eggs. I am not from the egg eaters but these were delicious! I had the steam clams appetizer. That was my dinner entrée. The clams were steamed in a wonderful spicy broth with chorizo sausage and a couple of pieces of toasted foccia. My sister had the fish sandwich and she totally enjoyed that as well.
