Let me start off with saying we have only heard rave reviews of this place and have wanted to go for a while. It's not my preference to leave poor reviews but feel the need to share. We went last night for dinner. The bar and restaurant were packed which always makes you feel good about your choice. To start off, the waitress was not happy we didn't order drinks which seemed like it ruined the service all together. I ordered the oysters rock your face off which was crunchy and light still allowing you to taste the oyster. Then I ordered the burger and my friend ordered the skirt steak. The table next to us ordered their food about 2 min before us and literally finished their food before we were served. In the mean time, the lighting was extremely low, so low that you cannot see the long hair tangled around your French fries. They did the right thing and comped the meal but you would think the service would be better and more swift after this but no we sat with dirty dishes for 15 min before we received the bill. I think everyone can agree that this is the go-to spot in the neighborhood. From the over the top swag, to the delicious food, to the unique cocktails, everything is done to perfection. Definitely a place to go if you're trying to impress someone. The bread pudding and tres leches are to die for. Wash it down with a dry white wine. So much intimacy and atmosphere wrapped up in one restaurant. We came to Clover Club on a whim, and it was a great decision! Right on Smith St, it's the perfect place for a date, quiet drinks or dinner. The ambiance is evident even from the street. We came for a small bite and drinks on a random night before heading to Chez Moi, and it was fabulous. We got a booth with a view of the bar. The cocktails were amazing, I had the Honeycrisp and would recommend it! Price wise, things were a bit expensive but it's worth it when you consider everything. Service was top notch too! read more

The best bar in Brooklyn we went to hands down while celebrating my bday in NY. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were awesome! Pedro really out did himself. Every drink he prepared was amazing and it just felt great having him as our bartender. Even though it was super busy he took the time to talk to us and it did make the experience so much better. I came here when my brother was visiting town one time and wanting to give him more experiences he can categorize as 'love' in his 'love-hate relationship with NY', we trekked down to Brooklyn, had dinner in one of the Smith St. hang-outs and then came here for drinks and live jazz. Atmosphere & Appearance: 5 stars. Old school furnishings. I like. In the summer they open up the front and the atmosphere is fairly casual. But come sundown, lights are dimmed and if you're here on live jazz night, then it's perfect for a romantic evening. I also love the lamps! Drinks & Food: 5 stars! Since I've read a lot about their cocktails I was intent on trying out several different cocktails but I tried the Pedro's Martinez and knew I found my match. It's a twist on the classic using Pedro Ximenez, a sweet wine I've been in love with ever since my trip to Barcelona. Suffice it to say that if I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be a regular at this bar just for this cocktail. My brother was very happy with his drinks also. And even though we had already had dinner I had to try their Brioche bread pudding with Bourbon caramel sauce and currants. So good! Accessibility: 4 stars. Brooklyn's a bit far for me. Great Bar, lots of space inside, and wonderful cocktails. It's as good as many of the best places in Manhattan, and the staff knows what they're doing. One minor complaint is that when I asked for a bartender's choice I ended up with a standard Gimlet. Note to staff: Maybe you should ask if people want a classic or something more contemporary? I dunno, but I don't go to the high-end bars to seek out classic cocktails. However when I made my desires more explicit, they delivered at the highest level! Came here with A, because this is A's spot and so why not venture out to Brooklyn and try this place that A is raving so much about? I started off with LA SONAMBULA #2 - this was good. Jalapeño-infused tequila, lemon juice, chamomile tea syrup, Peychaud's bitters, mole bitters A got some sort of scotch drink, can't remember what exactly it was. MAC & CHEESE - A wanted this, but I am not a big on mac & cheese, but if I was, I prefer mine to be less dry. Baked with Gruyere, white cheddar, smoked Heritage Pork Bacon and garlic breadcrumbs. (We can serve this without meat if you prefer... but, Bacon makes everything better.) A knows how much I love Steak Tartare, so we ended up trying their version. STEAK TARTARE - really yummy. Not as good as Employee's Only, but still better than The Saint Austere Traditional tartar made from grass-fed sirloin, and lightly dressed with capers, dijon, cornichons and fresh herbs and served with red watercress salad and grilled country bread. ASPARAGUS RISOTTO - This was evenly cooked unlike Thelma's on Clinton. But still not as good as Jean George. I came here for drinks and appetizer with some college friends. Nice atmosphere. Great friendly service. The servers were trendy, but not snotty and very helpful in recommending drinks and food. Loved their cocktail selection and small plates/ apps. We had the bacon sampler, deviled eggs, and two other egg dishes. All the food was delicious and. We ended up ordering more bacon samplers because we could not get enough bacon--who can?!! Perfect venue for relaxing with friends after work. I came back for brunch with my husband and toddler. Came here for happy hour last friday with coworkers. Clover club is a really beautiful space and definitely was designed to invoke a speakeasy vibe. The three of us easily got a table and stayed through happy hour. Happy hour prices were great - all of the cocktails we had were $8 and still packed a punch. I had two moscow mules and highly recommend. Our waitress was kind and attentive. She also never pushed us to leave as the place filled up and we were still nursing our drinks. I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and was able to make it for happy hour on Wednesday, and was overall impressed with the whole experience. We arrived at around 6 pm and stayed until 8ish and was able to make it for the happy hour (from 4 pm to 7pm Monday through Fridays). The cocktails were great (highly recommend the Moscow Mule if you like ginger) and all of the food tasted decent with moderately sized portions. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts and fries. We tried 3 of their desserts--the panna cotta and bread pudding were delicious! The server was also able to complete our request of having a candle in each of the desserts so we could sing our friends happy birthday. At around 8ish we saw them setting up for the live band with a cello. By the time we were leaving, there was a line for people waiting for a table, which wasn't the case when we first came in. Highly recommend if you're just in the mood for just drinks or if you are in the mood for a celebration. P.S.--if you want the option for a non-alcoholic yet yummy drink, ask for the Mocktail menu! Great cocktail bar. The bourbon based cocktails here are solid. Old fashions and cocktails that had coffee in it, all of them were superb. The bartender here really knows his craft. Even the sweeter cocktails were refreshing. We sat by the entrance, the sliding windows were open and the weather was great that Sunday evening. We ordered a few snacks. The one I remember the most were these chips that were fried in duck fat I think. Greasy crispy in a good way with good dip. I don't come into Brooklyn very often but if I ever do, Clover Club is one to remember. I like the atmosphere in here and the menu and bar here is just one of the best I've seen. I want to give 5 stars on account of how much I enjoyed the space, the service and especially my drink, but giving 5 stars for a 1-time visit is a bit rash, so I give my enthusiastic 4 star review. It was an overcast early evening, and I met my boyfriend and his dad here for a pre-dinner drink around 7pm on a Monday. They had nabbed a booth but there were plenty of tables, a few bar seats and the lounge in back seemed pleasantly subdued. My order was taken in respectable time and I do think that my drink took a little while, but it was delicious. TRULY delicious. I had given my favorite speak-easy title to PDT until now, but this trumps it. I've had drinks on and off-menu at various speakeasies about town (Death&Co, PDT, Employees Only, Mayahuel, etc.), and GASP - my favorite is in BROOKLYN? Well why not? My drink - the Heights Cup - which comprises of rum and a house mix of various liquors - looked boring but was amazingly tasty with a pleasant layering of flavors. Sweet, slightly tart, all poured over a glass full of cute little ice cubes (I didn't upload a pic because it wasn't very exciting). My bf and his father both enjoyed their drinks, but I liked mine so much I wasn't too keen on letting them have some - I wanted it all to myself. Ok so enough about that. So I get the dark, enclosed speakeasy thing, but really... does anything beat big walls of windows with the light filtering in? If you like cozying up to the bar, there's plenty of barstools - if you want a bit more privacy, go on to the back lounge with its plush sofas - and if you like to be able to hear yourself think, go to the much more open front room. We called before we decided to go here and we inquired about a large party coming and they said that's fine tables are available first come first serve, so we didn't bother making a reso. When we arrived at 7;30 no indoor tables were available so we sat outside, That said when our party began to arrive there was a clearly mixed message order inside at the bar or order outside with the waiter -- every person who arrived we had a lot (10 people total) were told something different. We went along with it, that said when our bill came it was inaccurate some drinks were charged at the bar some outside -- a waitress cashed some people out at the table but it did not account for all of it due to the terrible mismanagement of the place. Net net the Saturday night "manager" came outside with an inaccurate bill and then got upset when I callef her out. She said I was being "condescending" net net she came back with a bill reduced by $100 after me calling her out and not once explaining the mismanagement or discrepancies of the evening. The bill was still inaccurate and grossly overcharged since some folks were charged inside and some of our group went inside to dine for dinner. NEVER would I bring a large party here again under her watch. SO INEXPERIENCED disorganized and unprofessional. So sad for such an under experienced and unprofessional and disheveled manager to be managing such a great bar program. Hopefully they find someone with better experience to manage on busy evening especially as nyc bounces back. Sub par management is no longer something that should fly under the radar. read more

We were going to the brunch next door but it was too crowded so we ended up here. It turned out to be one of the best brunch experience!! We ordered something that's not normally seen in other brunch place. The baked egg is absolutely tasty. We have the leek one and it worked very well with the bread. This is one of my favorite cocktail lounges to go to in the city. It's unassuming, not pretentious and the bartenders really know how to make an excellent cocktail. It can be easy to walk right past as there's not a ton of signage but once inside, there's a good amount of tables and a nice bar you can sit at. The cocktail menu is extensive, and if nothing speaks to you, you can always just tell the bartender what you like, and they will surprise you. The drinks are on the pricier side here, so be prepared to shell out a bit more for a quality cocktail. This is a great spot to come to on a date or to catch up with a friend. The food was quite delicious and had a great variety. The mac and cheese was tasty but shouldn't be considered a "big plate". Don't order it if you have a big appetite. The steak tartare, deviled eggs, garlic ricotta dip (my personal favorite) and fois gras were all surprisingly appetizing and each good for sharing with 1-2 people as they are true to their "small plate" name. Service: The maitre'd was very responsive and accommodating as soon as we entered. Once we were situated and our food came out, we decided to get a bottle of wine. However, we were stuck between 2 choices. Thankfully our waitress offered a tasting and we picked our wine. When she brought back the wine, she didn't have us taste it again to make sure it was the right bottle or to make sure it wasn't corked. It so happened that the wrong bottle was brought out. We decided to drink it anyways since most of the bottle had been poured out into glasses already. We still enjoyed the wine and food. For a restaurant with such great reviews and a cozy ambiance (although it was a little too dark.. had to read the menu by candlelight), the little attention to detail would be highly appreciated and noticed. Came here for brunch on Saturday with some friends. They do not take reservations and the wait was close to an hour but worth it. The place has an oldtimey vibe with large booth style couches and oak wood tables. There is a back room private parties that looks to be a great size. We ordered bloody Mary's which were amazing and the harvest punch, a large cocktail to be shared which tasted like fall in a bowl. The food took some time to come and so they provided us complimentary deviled eggs which were amazing. The bacon tasting was also delicious and the cuts of bacon were thick and full of flavor. There happened to be live jazz playing while we were there which was really cool, though a bit loud since we were sitting right by it. Had to wait a while for our drinks but considering how busy it was, it wasn't a big deal. Just gave us some time to listen to an old man expertly playing a clarinet. THICK. CUT. BACON. BACON BACON BACON!!! Their bacon sampler is a musttttttttttt have. My girlfriend and I were contemplating on getting that dish because we're both on a diet before our upcoming vacation but we just couldn't resist... We're SO glad we got it!!! We will come back here just to get the bacon sampler, 2 orders each because we won't be sharing next time!!! It comes with duck, smoked and maple bacon.. the duck was just okay but the other two was literally to die for. I ate the maple bacon and I felt like I just went to heaven. We also got the potato pancakes, which I thought were gonna be more like hash browns but it wasn't. It was soft and soggy, not crispy at all. Duck confit was super super dry, like almost jerky style. I came here for brunch yesterday and was very satisfied. The staff was warm and accommodating and the food was yummy. For our entree, my boyfriend and I split the prime beef burger, the country breakfast, and a side of pancakes. Everything was so good, but the country breakfast was definitely the highlight for me.
