I went to Binc during a recent visit to Brooklyn on a Friday night. I've been here before and LOVED it. This time.... Not so much. Let's start with the food. I got a burrata salad and the tuna poke. Both were delicious, very cool and refreshing. The problem was with the service. Our table ordered coca colas as we had friends coming to meet us there for cocktails after. Our waiter seemed annoyed, as if the check would not be large enough because we were drinking sodas. As a result his tip would be smaller as it was a smaller check. I hated this so much. I worked in the service industry and treated my tables with smaller tabs the exact same as tables with larger tabs. He never came to clear our plates. We sat there for over 30 minutes with dirty dishes piled in front of us while we waited for our other friends to arrive. When they came in, they were treated to a table full of dirty dishes. It was such a put off and our waiter was just RUDE. There was no excuse for this. When we ordered ONE round of drinks, this server NEVER came to check on us or asked if we wanted another. The bad service was inexcusable and I will not be back on my next visit to Brooklyn. read more

The Binc has the potential of a great local neighborhood cocktail bar that also serves solid food. I love the intimate vibe and upscale environment Binc offers when you're looking for more than an ale house. I've come here a few times for happy hours (Mon-Thurs) where I normally enjoy a glass of wine or a Fahrenheit 451 cocktail (their take on a spicy margarita). Though in general I love the concept of this place, there have been a few times where the vibe just... flopped. On the weekends, I've seen the bartenders get entirely overwhelmed and start to lash out the patrons and I've seen guests get impatient and walk out. They sometimes get too busy for their own good, especially on the weekends, where you may sit and wait and be ignored for a while before the bartender gets to you. All that to say, some of the crafty cocktails seem to be a lot of effort for little delight to the tastebuds. Ordering grandma's salty tomatoes was on me. I normally like my spiked tomato drinks, but this kind of tasted like bottom of the kitchen sink water. Or the very end of a Bloody Mary where it gets really melty and watery and you're not sure that the flavors are working for you anymore. The big dill cocktail was more up my alley, but still not enough of a star to come back for. I'll stick to weekday happy hours for a glass of wine and a side of fries here in the future. read more

I met my sister for Happy Hour at this bar. We went just as they were opening. We had a glass of rose from Greece ($10) which was nice and a couple of appetizers - Shishito Pepperswhich needed more olive oil/lemon juice and Parmesan Crème Brûlée which was savory/sweet and yummy. I met a few friends here later in the evening on one such occasion and really enjoyed the environs and my glass of sparkles. The vibe is dark and intimate, as you may have gathered by now, and it wasn't super packed nor loud. I can see that this would also be perfect for a date night. I did not try the food but on my way to the (very nice) restrooms, I made a wrong turn into the adjoining restaurant and was super impressed by the decor. We went on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside around 5pm. We ordered a side of fries which were huge, crispy, and delicious. We sat down by the tabletop bar by the window despite some areas were leaking due to the rain. We came as a party of four for happy hour on a Tuesday evening as it was one of our birthdays. The waiter was super nice but may have been overwhelmed by the number of customers and lack of any other help. So we were only able to get 2 happy hour drinks in from 5:40pm - 7pm. The happy hour cocktails had a great diverse selection and were only 12 dollars while the glasses of wines were 8. The interior was dimly lit and exuded romantic vibes, but given a semi-cool October evening, we opted to sit outdoors. We shared some apps. They were all pretty decent from the French fries, Sriracha wings, burrata to the shishito peppers. We shared the tasty crispy mushroom flatbread as well. When we got our bill split three ways since we were paying for the bday girl, one of us noted that gratuity was already included. The two of us didn't and had already written a 20-22 percent tip on top of the total. Who knew gratuity would be included for a party of four. Though the service was nice, it wasn't particularly fast and definitely not double tip worthy. Nothing is really worth a 40 percent tip no matter how amazing the service. So we had to correct our receipts. In summary, it was good vibes, good eats and good happy hour cocktail deals. Come if you're in the neighborhood. Oh 'em G -- this place is amazing!! The food and service is beyond spectacular. The ambiance is beautiful in a very speakeasy, 1920's meets today's urban flair kind of way. We sat at the bar, and to say the bartender was beyond knowledgeable is a huge understatement. Dylan was the best; super kind, full of energy and very charismatic. He's a gem! He expertly crafted us a few delicious custom-made drinks and took our specific tastes and allergies into consideration. What an amazing bar. I go to the Presbyterian church right on Henry Street and decided to go get a drink with my wife and her friend. The atmosphere was extremely romantic: it was dimly lit, they played ow chill music, and there were candles everywhere. You can tell drinks are their speciality due to all the labeled liquids positioned at the bar: olive, cinnamon, mango, pepper and many more. You would assume every bar specialized in making drinks, but this one proved me wrong. Despite a small menu, they have great food to offer. We ordered the Elote Fries, which were enough for all 3 of us to share... twice! They were that good, seasoned perfectly! The bartenders (white gentlemen with a bun and beard, and another with shorter hair and a beard) were amazing. They remembered my drink of choice, were very attentive and definitely skilled at what they do. The bathrooms are for any gender, which was a huge plus. There are fully functioning toilets in each stall meaning it is accessible for all genders. The Binc is beautiful, clean and just an amazing spot to grab a drink after work. I came from a long day of being out, and needed a place to wind down and relax and I'm glad my wife chose this one. Definitely adding this to my list of Trans & Queer friendly spaces. read more

The server who was also acting as the bust boy came to clean the table (thank you!). I asked him to clean the seats as well as there was food all over it. Next I asked the server to close the door which he did promptly (thank you again). Not sure why the bartender acknowledged us at the beginning only to not follow through on the two items we asked him: Table seating and to close the door. Now to the food. Skip the Brussels Sprouts. You can create that tasteless concoction on your own. Instead I ate my bf's food which was the steak and truffle fries. It was okay, but my bf really liked the quality of the meat . Drinks were really good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. At least the bartending was on point (good) . I just wasn't impressed with the quality of service which seems to be a running theme during time of COVID. Damn you covid!
