Lovely trail for hiking or biking.

What a pleasant surprise! I almost literally stumbled upon this lovely path while staying at a hotel in Clovis. I was headed to the historic Old Town Clovis by foot and found a beautifully maintained and tree-lined path which made my walk so much more pleasant. There are historical markers along the way which add a bit of interest and lots of benches in case you'd like to take a break. Perusing the internet, I learned that the entire path is 13 miles long, perfect for a bike ride or a longish hike. Lovely!

Hubby and I just recently discovered this great walking trail! We started out walking around old town Clovis and then came upon it across the street from kuppa joy, behind the gas station, near the memorial building. It runs parallel with Clovis Ave. I don't care for bugs and dirt so I enjoyed the clean paved walking path! It's quiet and peaceful. Our baby slept the entire walk! We only walked for about 45 minutes near old town but definitely would like to go walk a lot more of it next time. I believe it's a 13 mile trial and leads to river park/connects with sugar pine trail. I'm not 100% sure of that though. It's not so secluded that you're a little worried to walk alone. It's a good distance from civilization. You can still here and see traffic, businesses and people but it's still quiet. I enjoyed our walk and can't wait to go again!

2026 Jun 30: Sierra National Forest to Mariposa Grove to Wawona Point (5 of 5)…read more Today's weather is perfect for a hike. We decided to pack a small lunch for the nine-mile hike. The quiet and peace offers a restorative escape. The sunlight filters through the towering trees as thin branches danced around causing shadows on the grounds. The earthy scent of pine and Yosemite 'perfume' fills the air around us. The quiet songs of hidden birds keep in tune with the gentle rustle of leaves, and beautiful colours of wild flowers sprouted here-and-there. Overall, we had a marvelous time with Mother Nature. The young gentleman manning the front desk was very courteous and tried his best to be helpful. Said he was new and lack of training is apparent. I was looking for any information on or about OHR. SNF had absolutely no brochures or maps. NOT any free information or FOR PURCHASE information. I can see why people that are trying to abide by laws and rules get in trouble. I must ask "When was the last time SNF ordered information for public"? I see it as a poorly run organization....

February 25, 2020 Tuesday…read more Dry creek trailhead is at the southwest corner of Shepherd and Sunnyside. There's a parking lot ( free ) that can fit about 50 cars , clean restrooms , a windmill and a metal horse statue. Cross the street heading east and you'll find a trail. It's along a canal that's home to Canada Goose, ducks , mallards , coots , etc. I saw at least a dozen Canada Goose gracefully floating , ducking their heads under, chasing each other , taking naps under the warm sunlight. When I first got to the trail, I heard loud screeching sounds that sounded like eagles or owls. I had seen an owl here before but when I looked up with my binoculars , there was this huge beautiful Red-tailed hawk . He was screeching so loud and when I looked up at the sky , there was another red-tailed. I think he was trying to mate her. Ahhhh those raptor were so gorgeous. They were too far and couldn't get good pics but filmed their calling sounds. There was a construction going on after about half a mile and there was so much noise and dust , plus most likely there won't be any critters with all that's going on , so I turned around. The trail takes you all the way to the water basin where you can spot the migratory birds . There's huge mansions along the trail , pretty flowers and blossoms , you might spot an own or two or hawks along the way. From the parking lot , if you head south , there's another section of the trail and this one takes you all the way to the Dry Creek Park and there's a botanical gardens next to the park ( Clovis Botanical Gardens ) free admission. I like both sections of the trail . If you wanna see lots of birds go East from the parking lot.

Casey and crew were absolutely incredible! Fun, friendly, yet utterly professional when it was called for. The staff went WAYYY above and beyond with their hospitality to ensure we had an awesome time. I spoke with Casey a few times leading up to our trip, with a few questions/concerns/requests, and he 100% made me feel like we were in the right hands, like a VIP, turns out we were indeed! Big shout out to our guide, Greg. Thank you sir! it was a pleasure to be in your boat, undoubtedly the best of the bunch. Everyone who made the trip had a blast and are already looking forward to next year. We will definitely be back!

We already can't wait to come back next season--especially in May or June, when the river is at its best. Highly recommended!
