Anywho, the dude and I come here before the Pandemic and I can tell you that traffic definitely increased when the pandemic occurred as we would not see many people. Anywho, the first time I came to this park which is just across the street from our living quarters. The first time Clovis PD was there removing the homeless camps. Behind Letterman park there is a beautiful canal that has a princess path to get to it and this is where we saw duck couples and followed the same duck couple until they had babies of their own and started to feed their family. The park has a skate park attached to it, grassy areas, play structures and seating. Over the 5 or 6 months we have been frequenting this park we have seen which the pandemic came through and they had to shut down the park by putting caution tap all around. We seen people camp out here, do exercise classes and homeless roaming which he didn't see a lot of that before the pandemic. We walk out there all hours of the day and night. We bring flash lights as it gets pretty dark. We have met a lot of amazing people like a woman for the past 17 years will come out and feed abandoned domestic cats which there are about 10 of them. A really cool homeless dude that gives us updates on our duck babies and action going on. Teens out late probably up to no good. Met a father of three who was a cool dude who was laid off due the pandemic and his kiddos were so adorable! We see Clovis PD in back of the park all the time! So this park gets A LOT of action. However since it's so close we come here A LOT and will continue to do pandemic or not!

A great green grassy area was there with huge trees for shade that was great to run around in and little stands to watch the skateboarders although we just climbed up and down them. Overall I would come back, we stayed on our end of the park as the other seemed to have some homeless people at the picnic benches, they seemed harmless, but I don't want to risk anything happening so we stayed on our end. There was a trail too along the canal there with a fence which was nice as you don't want the kids to run into it or fall in.

Even though there were a lot of people there, it was really relaxing just to walk around in my own little world. There was a nice breeze blowing this morning, so it felt really good just to get out of the house walk past the dog park. It was super cute, I just had a nice relaxing morning walking around seeing the sites and people watching. I totally need to do this more after I get my nails done.

We love to bring our kids here to explore, ride bikes & feed the ducks & geese (we bought a 50lb bag of cracked corn from Tractor Supply for like $18 & keep it in the back of our van.) They are super friendly & will eat out of our kids hands. We accidentally came here yesterday during the Water Lantern Festival & it was insane how many people & food trucks were there. *Tip If you plan on coming for than a few time during the year but the annual parking pass from the electronic kiosks around the park for $50 (it's good for parking at all city parks & The Fresno Zoo as well but it's only good for one cars license plate.

Casey and crew were absolutely incredible! Fun, friendly, yet utterly professional when it was called for. The staff went WAYYY above and beyond with their hospitality to ensure we had an awesome time. I spoke with Casey a few times leading up to our trip, with a few questions/concerns/requests, and he 100% made me feel like we were in the right hands, like a VIP, turns out we were indeed! The major focus has been on trail work and maintenance in the Sierra, but they do work in their various programs throughout the state of California. All programs are free, and provide instruction and supervision, superb free food service, and free camping in the area of work. There are now 4 divisions of this program: Vital Trail Maintainence, Forest Stewardship, Youth Programs, and Forest Facilities Management. Vital Trail Maintenance involves doing traditional trailwork to maintain foot and stock trails. The group works at a professional level in terms of the quality of work. Although it has skills with chainsaws, rock drills, and other higher-tech gear, it's real specialty is working in Wilderness areas with primitive tools such as picks, shovels, and everyone's favorite, their century-old one and two person crosscut saws for cutting trees. They also do sophisticated work such as bridge building and renovation, and complex rock work projects. There are two sorts of Trail Management trips: Base Camps, which are drive-in car camping trips over a weekend with day trips, and Backpacking Trips, which go into the deep backcountry to establish either a stable camp, or a moving camp, to provide service to trails farther from the roads. The Backpacking Trips often have stock support to carry gear, tools, and food in and out of the site. There are 11 week-long trips scheduled in 2012. Forest Stewardship projects have to do with cleaning up areas damaged by unauthorized uses of the forest which have caused damage. These tend to be highly technical and physical trips, that often involve removal of trash and debris by helicopter. Many of the jobs involved in these trips require significant training requirements for safety. Forest Facilities Management involves rehabilitation or removal of Forest structures. This has involved demolition of buildings, removal of roofs in preparation for replacement, and the placement of over 800 bear proof boxes in campgrounds in the Western Sierra. Youth Programs have involved youth in activities appropriate for ages involved, predominantly in Vital Trail Maintenance, particularly oriented towards creating opportunities for at-risk youth to experience the natural world. I have personally participated with this group for about 10 years, and have gone into many deep backcountry trips and seen terrain totally new to me. I also participated in a Volunteer Wilderness Ranger program through this program. I have made many friends, and gone into astounding areas. I have learned skills that are becoming increasingly rare. But most important, it has been an activity that has enhanced my life tremendously. I cannot speak too highly of this program.
