I had used CLS for ten years. The people were lovely. And then, two months ago, they stopped coming. I emailed and phoned over ten times and never received a reply. I have no idea what happened and why they stopped their service. When I emailed for an explanation, I heard nothing. This was after having made two automatic payments before realizing this wasn't a slip-up. No refunds seem forthcoming and no answers given. I would certainly be wary about hiring them. read more

So I have been a CLS Landscape customer for a bit over two years. Just having purchased our newly built home and moving to Seattle I called two companies and CLS won me over. I needed regular lawn mowing service, landscaping, general maintenance and to have my irrigation reconfigured. I was very happy with them until recently when there was a ownership change. The new owner is the former GM, Pete. I noticed things began to change. The lack of communication on a timely basis (In the past you always received a response if not within the hour certainly by the end of day.) The scheduling of my biweekly lawn mowing service went all over the place and there were several times I wasn't even sure they were showing up. In the past, for two years+, they were ALWAYS at my home to mow on the scheduled date within an hour window. And the crew for special projects are all new including the lawn mowing crew. There was no transition for me to the new crew...funny enough I just had a cut back job which I have had done by them twice a year every year. The new crew for this project came out and started working at my neighbors house. The crew did not know my property and no one from the original crew (the Foremen) were there to show them the scope of the project. Maybe that is because they are all gone. We have now parted our ways after having a conversation with Pete about the schedule for the lawn mowing. He got very "matter of fact'ish" and in my face, so to speak, and was shocking to me because in the past he had always been nothing but nice and professional. Basically, he told me to find another service and that obviously our long term partnership didn't matter. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I DID the very next day. I know stress can be part to blame for him becoming a completely different person than what I was use to, owning a business, staffing issues and generally balancing all of that and continue to grow. BUT I won't think losing existing good paying customers is a good business strategy. In fact, I sensed all of this months ago and had been considering a change anyway. My husband and I hired CLS Landscape Services in December 2014 to lay a patio in the small backyard of our townhouse. When we requested a quote, Peter responded promptly. Throughout the process, he was a pleasure to work with. He provided us with several options to accommodate our budget. What set CLS apart from other landscaping companies we contacted was the quality of service. We felt our business was valued and Peter made himself very available to answer all of our questions. While the price was on the higher end, we definitely got what we paid for. CLS did beautiful work and we are thrilled with our yard. I called and asked to have someone come out to give me an estimate for landscape planning and services. Peter came out and was very professional when he visited. (i had sent him pictures prior to his visit). He was very responsive initially. After coming out, he stated he would get some pictures to me by the next day and an estimate in 2 days. That was the end of august and it's now almost October. I have repeatedly left a message on his phone and sent 2 e-mails. With none of them being answered. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! read more

There is something seriously wrong with CLS management. My Queen Anne condo contracted with them for 3 years for weekly maintenance, plus occasional special projects. They were great, until they went missing. We first noticed that for about a month, their schedule was eradic and then, totally MIA. No response to emails, phone calls, no contract cancellation, nothing. They simply disappeared. Extremely unprofessional. Under no circumstance would I recommend doing business with CLS. read more

I called CLS Landscape Services to receive an estimate for lawn mowing and edging. They came to our house to survey the work and indicated they'd write up an esimate and send it to me by the end of the next day. They emailed me the written estimate one day after they said they would, but no big deal to just be one day late. However, I replied to their written estimate with some questions and it's now been over a month and I haven't heard back. I texted Pete once, left him a voicemail once, and emailed him THREE times (on April 4th, 6th, and 13th) and it's now been over a month since I first emailed him and I still haven't heard from them. Pete emailed me 2 hours before the walk through appointment to let me know he couldn't submit a bid didn't have room to fit us in. Thanks for wasting my time CLS. Would not recommend them. read more

Everyone showed up on time and finished a day before the estimate. The work site was left spotless and they all did a fantastic job. We had pressure washing done, tree trimming, some plantings, and had a ton of ivy taken out along a two tiered retaining wall. They also, put down a weed barrier and a ton of mulch. There was another flower bed that needed weeding. (and wasn't part of the bid) It was a surprise to come home to and see that they had cut back the ferns, weeded and put mulch down. Pete and team was BY FAR the most professional landscaping team I've ever worked with. How many times have you called companies to get an estimate scheduled only to get no response or a no show? Not here. In addition to the unparalleled professionalism, they did a perfect job on the irrigation system on time and on budget. We tried these guys for nine months and found them extremely bad at customer service. We agreed to meet Peter several times and he would either not show up or show up very late. As for the service, it was very mediocre to poor. There are dead plants all over my yard during the winter when you think there's not that much work to do and we're still paying the same amount in the winter months as the summer months. I've asked them to fix certain things and they did not despite numerous calls. Two weeks ago I asked to meet with Peter to discuss the situation and there was no reply for a week. Then we agreed to meet and despite being very sick I waited for thirty minutes after calling Peter. NO response and NO show. Rather than trying to meet with me and discuss the situation he just said they can't meet our needs. I would not recommend this company. read more

Pete came out to my house very promptly and reviewed the work to be done in advance. Our neighbor has problems every time we are working near our property line and Pete wrote up a very specific and careful quote that would ensure the crew did not disturb my neighbor's side of the property line when removing a hedge on our side. The crew (and Pete) arrived as scheduled and Pete did a fantastic job of specifying the care that needed to be taken during the job. The crew could not have been more professional and their work was amazing. My neighbor came over about eight times while they were working and tried to direct their activities relative to watching the property line. They were extremely courteous and kept at their work, doing a terrific job. I cannot give enough thumbs up to CLS for their efforts. Pete was on point the entire time too.
