My wife and I decided to eat here last week. It was a nice experience. I had 1201 Benedicts with the Crab Cakes. It tasted great. I was disappointed that the eggs were overcooked. My wife had the avocado toast. She said it was really good. Service was great and it's a neat atmosphere. It was a little loud because it's so busy. So if you want quiet, this isn't your place. My only complaint other than the over cooked eggs is the price. First, the menu prices are not updated. My meal said it was $19.00. In reality, it was $22.00. So it's pricy. Not really worth it for an every week place to eat in my opinion. I will probably only eat here on special occasions in the future. We spent just under $50.00 without tip. We had water to drink and I had a coffee. There are plenty of other places in Joplin with food priced more reasonably and that is just as good. Honest review... Brunch. Food: Beignets- When comparing to a New Orleans beignet, it is not great. Would not order this again. Eggs- 3 out of 4 of us did not get the eggs how we ordered them. Sausage- taste was good but you got 2 very small patties that were hard. Hash browns- good but very small portion. Coffee good. It seems the bill did not reflect the prices that were on the menu. The ambiance is really good. The menu looks really interesting and I was excited to try the Cubano flatbread. I guess in my mind, I envisioned something else entirely. A flatbread wrap with roasted pork and ham and a little mustard with Swiss cheese and pickle... What I got was a strange little pizza with an enormous excess of mustard and no pickle. It's not that it was awful - I do like mustard - but it was little just a mustard pizza. It was bizarre. And everything felt expensive beyond what we got on our plates - but that may be just a sign of the times we live in rather than anything about the restaurant itself. read more

We came to town for a coworkers birthday and ended up here at club 1201. We were initially supposed to have a party of 7 coming in around 12, but 3 cancelled and the other 4 of us decided to go early. They were really understanding and rolled with the change of time and # of guests easily. I wish I had gotten a picture of the inside of the restaurant, it has that kind of mismatched style that somehow completely works. The staff were friendly and fairly attentive. We ordered the blackened chicken dip to start and honestly I'd I wasn't sharing with 3 other people I could have made this my entire meal, it was delicious. I ordered the steak wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. I did feel that the toppings were kind of light - for an entree salad there's almost nothing to fill you up. Also, the bacon was good, but I wish there was more. Blue cheese crumbles would have been nice as well. The dressing was really good and the steak was well cooked and had good flavor. Was visiting home for Christmas from Los Angeles and this place made me feel like I was in CA! :) It's super hip and fresh, unlike many of the places I grew up going to around Joplin - a welcomed change! We visited for brunch on a Sunday around 11am. There was no wait. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. All the servers were super sweet and efficient. I had the omelet special and my parents had a crepe and one of the benedicts. All 3 portions were generous and the food was delicious! The most decedent of the 3 was the benedict thing my mom got, eggs served on top of a spinach and artichoke dip-like stuff instead of biscuits or some other bread. It was SO RICH, so only get that plate if you're feeling like overindulging or if you're starving! Haha For 2 Bloody Mary's + the 3 plates, it came to $58 before tip. At $9/each for the BM bar, I thought that price was a bit high for Joplin (that's what I'd pay in LA for one BM at brunch!). However, the price was fair considering the ridiculous amount of stuff they had to put in the BMs - cubed cheeses, meats, olives, shrimp, veggies, pretty much everything you could imagine possible to toss into a BM. The mason jar they're served in was also half full with the vodka + semi-crushed ice, so they put a decent amount of vodka in them (and even had bacon vodka as a choice)! Our party of 10 (8 adults, 1 one year old, and 1 five year old) went here for breakfast on Mother's Day. The restaurant refused to take reservations but reassured us that at 9:30 AM we would get seated right away. That should have been a red flag but we went anyway. We did get seated immediately. However they were severely short staffed. The restaurant was packed because they had told the same thing to all the other families. This is the first indicator that they have no idea how to run a business. We sat at our table for 1 hour and 10 minutes before they gave us water to drink and took our orders at 10:40 AM. We ordered beignets that never came however did show up in our bill. The food arrived at 11:45 AM, cold. It tasted okay however nothing you need to wait 2.5 hours to eat. The girl that waited on us kept apologizing but never actually did anything helpful. She didn't bring water refills. I asked for a to-go box that she never brought. Overall the worst Mothers Day experience we have had. Our 1 year old was beside herself waiting in her high chair for 3 hours. If one of us had gone back there to cook in their kitchen, we would have gotten food out faster. And we are no chefs. This restaurant has no process, no way to manage crowds, and food that is exactly like the million other places out there. My family and friends will never return. read more

I was really excited to try this place while I was in town visiting, it looked trendy and upscale. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and while it was a bit busy, there were vacant tables and no line. When the food finally arrived, it was incredibly bland. Definitely not worth the $18 I paid for crab cake eggs Benedict and what they called truffle fries (they weren't). That was the experience for the rest of my family as well. Overpriced and dull. Our server was antisocial to the point of verging on rude. He always acted rushed and annoyed that he had to interact with us, and made sure to keep conversation to a non-existent minimum. The bathroom is also in horrible condition for such a nice-looking restaurant. One of just two stalls out of order, one of just two ceiling lights out (it was very dark in tnere), and a large hole in the wall. Honestly the only good thing I can say is that their Mimosa and Bloody Mary bars were very good, with lots of options for both. They were also pretty generous with the champagne and vodka, respectively. That said, we won't be coming back here. read more

Had brunch here today and I walked away a very happy customer. I'm real big on ambience, and the inside of this restaurant is very inviting. Beautiful decor and paint. You feel happy as soon as you walk in. Had the beignets with raspberry couli and they were very good. The parmesan potatoes had a wonderful cheesy flavor, not a dusting but real prominent in a good way. I had the frittata of the day, which was ham, feta, and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. My boyfriend ate the steak and eggs and his steak was done right. The only problem is the hours. We tried Club 1201 on a whim and decided that we would definitely be back. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the Monte Carlo sandwich and the Cuban Flatbread. Both were very good. Sides were sweet potato fries and parmesan potatoes. They were excellent. They were pretty busy but we still got our orders in decent time. It is a little noisy but it was a fun type of noise. This is a nice little up-scale place in Joplin. We went for brunch and had the Beignets with raspberry couli to start. It was ok but not near as good as you will get at a real Cajun restaurant. My excitement dwindled when I realized it was just some fruit in bowls...I've put better Mimosa bars together and I don't work in this field. My second time eating at 1201 I convinced my office to order lunch. We all had various salads. Everyone agreed that they were "good" but nothing great...if I order a $12 salad for lunch I usually want better than good and possibly a side of French bread or something. The delivery was GREAT! Our server, and I use that term loosely because she doesn't belong in the service industry, took our drink order and those arrived promptly. She then took our food order and disappeared. We were there for an hour and when our food never came, I tracked our waitress down in the back. I asked her when the food would arrive. I told her we had been waiting an hour. Without apologizing she said she would check with the kitchen. I went back to the table. We waited five minutes and when she again never came back, left cash on the table for the drinks and left.
