This is a pay what you can, pay it forward to help others if you can, roll up your sleeves and work for your meal setup. So, you might think...ah, cool, enjoy your canned soup and turkey sandwich, I'll go to a "real" restaurant. This would be foolish. The food is every bit as good as you'll find in a more traditional, for-profit setup. They focus on locally sourced ingredients and have a seasonal menu as a result. The food is delicious. Menu is delightfully trim but with something for every taste (salads, soups, sandwiches, sides). Had some meatloaf sliders with pimento cheese when I was there that I'd like to replicate at home. My friends raved about their selections as well. Service is amazingly friendly and attentive. I'm not sure anyone's glass dropped below half-full. And the servers were happy to share the stories behind the concept, which showed the pride they had in the venture. Everyone is welcome here. Might have a table of folks in suits next to a table of folks stopping in from their factory shift next to a table with someone who's looking for a good meal and will be washing dishes after he eats to pay his fare. Just welcoming, casual, good-feeling place.

Wanted to give a shout out to a local business with a pretty darn good menu! Located in downtown…read moreNew Albany in a well-loved building near the river. I stopped in this time for a takeout order of wings with kickin' bourbon sauce option and a Boomtown Melt sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Wings were not as crisp as I personally prefer, so I threw them in the air fryer and voila! Perfection! Sandwich and fries were delish. Service was fast and reception staff were friendly and efficient. Convenient parking in lot next door or on the street frontage. Waiting area was comfortable and interesting focal points to look at during my brief wait.

Less than a mile from our hotel we came midday in between lunch and dinner so the place was pretty much empty with just a few other patrons. We could sit wherever so we chose a booth at the corner. This was an Americana style restaurant with classic steak, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. We placed our order for... BLACKENED SALMON - tender and seared. For an additional $1 I asked for bourbon glaze to be spread on my salmon. It was served on a bed of wild rice. The bourbon glaze was definitely a game-changer... the combination of sweet, smoky, and tangy flavors created a yummy flavor. CAJUN PORK CHOPS: not one but two thick cut pork chops brined & seared. Topped with Cajun butter. Husband shared a few bites with me and it had me craving for more. I just helped him finish his pork chops a little bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Service was friendly but it can sometimes lack attention. There is ample free parking available in the public lots behind and adjacent to the restaurant. Instagram: @boomtown_kitchen Review #3877
