I ordered food for delivery and when one item was missing, I suddenly received a call from a staff member at the restaurant. She was on it! I never have received a call when something is missing from the actual restaurant! She offered to drop it off or come in the next week to re-order the item. Unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to come in (they close at 2pm!) So I am desperate to go back and try the French Toast Concha. That being said, the chilaquiles with egg on top? So yummy! And legit heat on it! The flavor was rich and spicy and just so delicious. Cannot wait to try more.

BEST MEXICAN BREAKFAST SPOT This restaurant will have a cult following soon. It's just amazing. The food is incredibly delicious and it feels like you're eating at a Michelin 5 Star. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant is new and has been remolded. Try the Mexican coffee and finish your meal with the churros.

Stopped by for Sunday brunch. We were able to get a table pretty quickly despite arriving during peak brunch time. We ordered a the chorizo biscuits and gravy which were a fun twist on a classic. The service was great and the staff was all incredibly friendly. Next time I definitely want to check out one of the sweet offerings. They looked like a great indulgent treat!

The place is very clean and the service was excellent. We had the pancakes and French toast. I also had the hot chocolate. The food was delicious. I didn't care for the hot chocolate. I think it had cinnamon in it. There is plenty of parking in the back.

Be sure to double check what you are being charged when you get your check. When we first dined here, we weren't told they charge an upcharge of 3.99% for using a credit card. I paid it and let it go. However, we returned this past week with CASH so we wouldn't have to pay the upcharge. Our server asked if we would be paying with cash or card. We told her cash. We paid our check and I stuffed the receipt in my pocket. When I got home I pulled the receipt out and looked at it. The 3.99% upcharge had been added eventhough I paid with cash. This whole upcharge scam being employed by more and more restaurants is bad enough. But when you pay cash and it's still added is downright unethical. Once I realized what had happened, I called the phone number on my receipt. The person that answered identified himself as Noe the owner. I explained what had happened and he said he would make it right. I'm supposed to bring the check back in and they will refund the the charge. I did have a fairly large check so it's more than a few cents. Noe blamed Clover, the name of his credit card processor. I thought to myself, I didn't use a credit card??? Noe mentioned he also charges the upcharge at his other restraurant Hoopsters in Jeff. I told him that yes, we had eaten there also and was not told about the upcharge until my card had been charged. I also told him I have a problem with these upcharges when there are no signs stating the upcharge anywhere on the premises and the server doesn't mention it when you hand them your card. Noe said Hoopsters has new menus and it's now stated on the menu. He actually said it's now in small print at the bottom of Hoopster's menu. Unfortunately, we really like the food at El Mananero, but I will not tolerate these 'gotcha' tactics so many of these restaurants now employ. It's their loss as we and our friends eat out numerous times every week. Any restaurant that employs upcharges should make it known either by signage or prominently displayed on the menu. PERIOD!

Stopped in El Mananero to group some breakfast since I was running early. The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. I ordered the Burrito mananero to go. It was Avery good size and flavorful. Will try the restaurant again.

Great place for breakfast - outstanding service - food nearly as good - Mexican themed with a few American choices - certainly worth a try.

Love it here! My sister had tried it so she suggested it for weekend brunch…read more The service was great! I had cafe de olla and they accidentally gave me the coffee black without the sugar cane and cinnamon. She poured me a cup to go! My friends tried cafe de Oaxaca (San as Mike but with milk) and abuelita's hot chocolate. Exceptional! I was really impressed with the authentic flavors. The menu had a variety for savory and sweet breakfast lovers. Two of us got chilaquiles con salsa verde or salsa roja, and one tablemate of mine got huevos rancheros, and another got the burrito. Fantastic! The sauces weren't spicy or too skimpy. Prices are a lot better than Con Huevos. I love that place but it's getting too expensive. Parking is easy but shares with other businesses and can get busy. I would come back! I really want to see more of these types of restaurants in town. Favorite restaurant already!!

The wait was worth it and the service was incredibly friendly despite how busy they were. My Smoked benedict was delightful. The bread was fresh and it was plated beautifully. I tried a bite of the mama omelette and thought the mole sauce was incredible. That pancake was super fluffy too. I am absolutely coming back to try the tres leches pancakes- I saw this dish come out for another table and it looked amazing.

On a recent trip to Louisville, we stayed in Nulu and were looking for a walkable breakfast option…read more Luckily, Biscuit Belly was just a few blocks away. The menu is pretty large for a fast casual restaurant, so there is something to every palate or just about every dietary restriction. I had the delicious Edgy Veggie: Fried green tomatoes with mushroom gravy on a biscuit with an iced coffee. The coffee is lovely and there is a good range of specialty lattes (hot or iced) including milk alternatives for the dairy challenged, such as myself. The staff was delightful and friendly, and equally as cheerful was the decor of the restaurant. No boring gray here! Despite many options our second day in town, we decided to return the next day. I wish we had Biscuit Belly in the Chicago area!

In our introduction to the trendy NuLu neighborhood, we stopped by Biscuit Belly for brunch…read more Biscuit Belly is not bad at all, but nothing really stood out enough to make us want to come back. The modus operandi here is that you stand in line to place your order, then go find a table. At Sunday brunch time, the line can be long and slow to move. After you are seated, a runner will bring your food out. Our orders were correctly prepared and came out quickly. We ordered fried green tomatoes, loaded tater tots and donut holes as appetizers. The green tomatoes were just okay, but I would say that the dipping sauce that came with them was fabulous. The loaded tater tots didn't really seem like tater tots but tasted okay. The donut holes were decent. I ordered the Chick N' Ditch (chicken breast and waffles). The unpleasantly salty chicken was a filet. The French toast that looked like pancakes were good JP ordered the Avocado Toast and said it was just okay. The Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit was good. I was able to order a biscuit on the side (even though the paper menu didn't show biscuits as a side). The biscuit was good. I'm torn between three and four stars for Biscuit Belly, but because the ambience was lively and the interior appealing, I'll go ahead with four stars.

I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

Love the food and great service! We have tried several places and this has become our go to!read more
