I've never written a Yelp review about a security guard before, but here we are... because apparently this place hired someone who thinks he's auditioning for a low-budget action movie. From the second my friends and I walked in this guy had it out for us for absolutely no reason. We were literally minding our business, playing pool, not causing a scene or anything. Meanwhile, this dude is circling us like we're in the final round of a surveillance drill. At one point, he comes over to remind us "no drinks on the table" except there were no drinks on the table. Not near it not even in the same zip code as the table. I've seen imaginary friends with more awareness of reality. This man walks up to me and asks me to lift my shirt apparently deciding, on his own, that I might be carrying a firearm. No explanation, no context, just straight to treating me like I'm in a TSA line at an airport that doesn't exist. Then as if that wasn't weird enough, he tells me to spin around so he can "check" me. At this point I wasn't sure if I was at a bar or being processed into a minimum-security facility. Let me be clear: I understand security has a job to do. But there's a massive difference between keeping people safe and going on a personal power trip because you have the word "security" on a t-shirt. All of this happened while nothing else was going on. No fights. No chaos. No reason to single us out unless the job description includes "randomly harass customers for entertainment." If this is the kind of experience this place is going for, they nailed it. If not, they might want to have a conversation with the guy at the door who thinks he's the main character. I'll take my business somewhere that doesn't come with a surprise pat-down and a side of attitude. read more

My first time visiting and came because they participated in Burger Week. We had an issue with part of our group's order that got lost, and the owner himself (who was delivering orders and definitely working along with the other staff) came over and apologized over and over. Offered to comp our order, we said no (we aren't Karens/Kyles) because we understood that they were really busy. He didn't like that we said no, so we finally said, well, just bring us another pitcher of beer. Burgers and fries were great. Prices for non-burger week items were very reasonable. First I wanna say I didn't realize I hadn't finished this review from a while back. I go here to watch the Steelers games when I can. This is a great place to watch the game, eat chicken wings, and drink some draft beer for under $20 if you are looking to be frugal. The atmosphere is really cool. There are people playing volleyball in and outside while others are watching the game, hanging out with friends, and making new ones. The service lacks because you have to order at the usually crowded bar. Thankfully they do have food runners so you can go back to your seat and wait for the delicious food and tasty beverages. read more

I went to my R Place pub today. Tried their new menu. Firstly..let me put this out here im picky. Just because im a control freak. Lol. I go here often. They know im picky. I typically used to go with the same old burger or wings...too nervous to try anything different. Their smash burgers on the brioche bun are reliable and tasty. Wings too. So once I read the new menu and seen the new variety I was excited. I was also excited to sit under the new patio area with covered seating. Cool and nice. So...I ordered the club sandwich and had fries. I asked for my fries plain. Typically they are seasoned. I have to say I was nervous my Texas toast would be burnt. But soooooooo pleased it was cooked to perfection..the color was so right and buttery toasted. The flavor was there. The Pubs version of a club is just 2 pieces of toast..so dont fuss if you want 3. I personally would have liked the turkey warm and not cold. But I think thats a preference issue. But....there wasn't a bite left. So I got over it quik. You really need to come back to this cozy bar if you found yourself leaving due to past experiences. They have grown A LOT. You can't learn to be better unless you made mistakes. I think they are starting to adapt very well into this new version of themselves. I wasn't disappointed. Im excited to try something else next time i visit. read more

It's probably the worst service I've had anywhere. It's one thing to get bad service when you're busy and another thing to give terrible when there are only 4 people in the place. After 30 minutes we ended up leaving. We can certainly find other places to spend our money. Dont waste your time here. read more

Visited R Place with a large group of friends (20+) they set up our group very well and even extended happy hour for us! Overall a great land affordable place serving basic bar food fair and drinks at affordable prices. The draw to R Place is the Volleyball and Corn hole areas of property, which are very well maintained compare to similar venues I have been at in the past. I have played volleyball at R Place on and off for eleven years. In addition, grew up with my parents playing and being the kid at the bar. So, R Place has been in my life for a long time. After a two back to back seasons of playing, I am finished. The atmosphere and energy of the space is dead. Music doesn't play outside unless someone puts money in a jukebox and the bartender disappears for fifteen minutes at a time. But the worst part would probably be this one ref. I do not know her name, but she has been with us for both seasons on Monday. And responsible for every game in our Winter season. However, the word responsible is not a good definition of how she handles her simple job of sitting in a high chair, counting score. In fact, she will happily look straight down at her phone and text for an entire play. Typically, she is looking at her phone and glancing up when blowing her whistle. Last season, I asked her to pay attention to the game and please put down her phone at least three games. While being on your phone and responsible for making calls doesn't necessarily make for a tea party, we accepted it. But when you cannot do your job and both teams are missing calls because you didn't even watch the play.... Choosing to randomly pick the team with the most points as to who you give the score to... that is the worst possible thing a ref could do. This season has been worse. It is inside with less people to hold her accountable. Countless games, we have had terrible calls and multiple points that should have been ours. When you tell her what is happening, she ignores you and will stare blankly into space. She knows what she is doing and is caught in the action. But, unlike a responsible ref or human being, she does the same actions repeatedly. Tonight, was probably the fifth game I have shared words with her this season. Along with my teammates and the other players. We scored. But she was too busy with her head sideways and chatting with someone... that when she heard the play was over, still, looking at the guy, she gave the serving team the point. Instead of us. There were multiple mistakes such as this. We kept calling them out, but she blows her whistle so quickly that most of the time, we are stating what needs to happen and the ball is being served at us. Even though, it is our serve. That also happened. It was our serve and the other team mistakenly served it. We told her, and she did her usual blank stare. Then, the other team didn't switch servers and their best server was able to go two rounds. Even though she missed the first. And, it was our ball. There was another call where she half her whistle in a weird way than normal, while talking to someone. We had no idea if the game was back in play or what was happening. We stood there motionless, staring at her and the other person asking what was happening... trying to figure out what was going on. This was just a few tidbits from tonight's game and clearly didn't cover all her mistakes. When you commit to doing the simple job of being a ref, you respect both teams and put your phone down for one second. But the obsession to smash your phone into your face immediately after the whistle blows makes zero sense. R Place Volleyball is no longer reputable. It is thrown together, and no one seems to care. If I am spending my time, energy, and money to a place that doesn't respect me... why would I keep coming? I do not want to even show for tournament. I am disappointed in a local business for not caring. I expect it from corporations but always a disappointment from a local establishment. Especially, one I grew up visiting. I won't let my team down and not show. After our tournament, I wish to take my hard-earned time, money, and energy elsewhere. Just as the other masses of folks leaving have. read more

The place is close to feeling like a dive bar but my husband and I like that. We like to come here during the week and not the weekends. The bartender during the week is awesome and always makes us feel at home. On the weekends it gets pretty busy and the place is fairly small. There is volleyball leagues offered which is cool. And there's a couple pool tables, dart boards, and other machines. The food is your typical bar food but their cheeseburgers and pizza always hit the spot after a drink or two! read more

Don't go here!!!! They pour short liquor amounts so they can get drunk and smoke weed in the parking lot at the end of the night. I'm a veteran bartender and know liquor counts and amounts and they short everyone's drink so they can get drunk on the job. Specifically the fat bald white dude. Called him out about my short vodka sprite and he waited 15 second while it was on ice to measure it in a jigger for me....and it was still short!!! People like him run establishments into the ground. I will never come back. read more

I'll start with a caveat. I've only been here for Steeler football games, and the only food I've tried is their Cajun wings. So if you want to gauge it on broader terms I'm not sure I can help. But from my limited experiences, I have to say this is a sweet dive. When a pitcher of Bud runs you $5.25, you can pretty much guarantee a couple of things. First, that money isn't going to pay for new barstools. The barstools here are either chewed up with the foam coming out or they come emblazoned with Seagram's logos or somesuch. (About 80% of the contents of the bar seems to have come from Anheuser Busch or Miller. It's worth noting that they even have Lite Beer drop ceiling tiles. Now *that's* atmosphere.) Second, they aren't trying to attract a clientele that has a "tasting room". (As if the name "R Place" wasn't something of a giveaway.) And finally, charging $5.25 is a good way to encourage patrons to give at least 75 cents to the poor waitstaff, who probably deserve a few pennies more than that. So yeah, it's a dive. But it's a pretty good one in that the wings are excellent and they picked the right pro football team and it's plenty spacious, with pool tables and karaoke and live music and whatnot. Not much to look at. But the food and beer selection is what it's all about! I had and average burger for a reasonable price. The tater tots where hard and crunchy which I enjoyed but I know not every one would. The burger was slightly rubbery, which might have been from overworked patty making, but it has a nice little bit of char and good flavor. My partner said the top of her bun was cold to the touch. Not sure if thawed or refrigerated bread is a great idea. They did not have ice tea but the waitress said they might bring it back. The service was good. We got double cheese burgers on special with tots for $5.99. Singles and triples were also available. Be sure and pull into the shopping center to park there is not an entrance on the south side of the building. read more

Dano's wings and fried cheese curds are amazing! Loved the smash burger there as well! There is pool, darts, live bands, karaoke, trivia(I think) and volleyball! It's nice to have a neighbourhood bar where you have activities and entertainment other than just drinking! It was a great place to play volleyball (I was in the D league so the games were very casual).
