I have been coming here for 9 months now and for me it was a really tough choice as to where to go. I was looking for someone who could accommodate my neck injuries, as well as immune disorder as well as help me strengthen my body! I came to her business with 2 plates as well as screws in my neck and 2 bars in the back of my neck. Melissa was wonderful. she worked with me and was so patient during my struggles. There were times where I just couldn't make it because I was sick or I was just struggling with my injuries because they were that bad. Melissa understood this and explained that investing in yourself takes commitment, so she created a package for me that me and my body could handle. I was scared to try something like this because I spent a year recovering in my bed from these surgeries. I'm so glad I stuck it out and that I was able to find a compassionate instructor who invested in me as much as I invested in her. I had already paid for a $800+ package so I sucked it up ‍. Fast forward after traveling for work, I cannot book my classes when I should've around 18 left. She states my classes have expired. I start to mention I thought they didn't expire, which is why I signed up... she cuts me off immediately defensively saying all packages expire and bla bla bla. Essentially robbing me $400. As someone with a busy schedule, I wouldn't have paid 800 dollars for something that can expire. I thought small businesses were supposed to be friendly, welcoming people. I didn't argue because it's not worth it, she calls me 10 mins later and says she would give me the remaining classes if I pay for 10 more I tried so hard to like this place because it's 5 mins from my house

I just moved out to Long Island from Brooklyn a few weeks ago. I wanted to find a place to…read moreseamlessly transition my Bikram practice - and I'm so glad that I found Ash. I was immediately welcomed by the friendly and encouraging staff and felt so at home! I've taken 6 classes so far and I'm hooked. If you're a Bikram practitioner of any level, I recommend Ash - they have a variety of teachers, but they're all versed in the Bikram dialogue. Colleen, Heatherly, Marissa - whether you like the 60 minute express or if you brave the 90 minutes, they've got you covered and you'll leave sweaty and rejuvenated. The studio is well heated and there's plenty of space - I've felt amazing from the very first class! They have a ton of other heated and non-heated classes too which I'm excited to try (but I am a bit of a Bikram loyalist at the moment). Only critique would be that they don't provide towels or mats so you have to bring your own, and the shower situation isn't great - the bathroom is small so there's nowhere to comfortably get changed unless you're standing in the shower. I'm coming from Brooklyn where I'm used to towels and mats being provided and the showers being really great, but that's Brooklyn where no one has a car and everyone has to take the train after class, so it's different. I'm adjusting to the Long Island life, so this isn't turning into as much of a hassle as I thought it would be. Getting in my car sweaty isn't so bad so I've been showering at home after and it's fine! I love Ash Hot Yoga, the teachers, the other students, the atmosphere, the availability of classes, and the you-are-family, everyone-is-welcome-here vibes. Ann Marie is such a warm, engaging, easy-going person and she sets the tone for the studio. It is a relaxing, welcoming space and I instantly remembered how much better it is to practice in a studio versus having a home practice. Ann Marie is extremely knowledgable about yoga and how the human body works. She works hard to make sure that everyone is using what props they need to benefit from the practice given their individual bodies. She does a fantastic job of pacing her instruction. I have been doing Yoga at my gym for months, with the aid of a friend, Chris, who helped me learn…read moremost of the positions. When he invited me to finally attend a 6am class at Bikram Yoga of Bayport, I thought no sweat! But I would find out later, sweat I would be doing. I got there with my gym partner at about 5:30am and the parking lot was completely empty. We met up with another gym friend, Sheri, who also got there early. Rachel the instructor, also a friend, invited us in and went over the pricing. Rachel also gave great tips and advice since it was my first time. I walked into the room and couldn't believe how hot it was. I thought it must have been a mistake! It was hotter inside that room then it was outside. My friend, Sheri, was already in the room comfortable and stretching. She recommended that I do it also to get use to the heat and so I did. Class didn't even start and I was sweating. The guy that invited me, Chris, showed up and he looked like a professional. I didn't know what attire to wear or even what I was doing. I asked him a lot of questions before class started and he explained everything well, as he always does. Finally Rachel walked in and class started. Let me say I have worked out in a gym for years. I have never sweated in a gym like I did 20 minutes in that class. The class we were taking is called "Vinyasa," it is more complete movements and is continuous. Rachel was a wonderful instructor, she had a calming tone in her voice and explained every movement so carefully. Rachel had a very soft music on that helped me focus along with the breathing exercises she went over. I almost gave up many times but I pushed on. I knew every drop of sweat that hit my Mat was weakness leaving my body. I made it through 90 precent of the class before fatigue finally came over me. I was done. I laid there happy to get as fair as I did. After class everyone walks out the room when they were ready, no rush, you can leave when you feel satisfied. There is a locker room you can use or just leave. I stayed behind to talk with my friends. I felt incredible after the class. My body felt loose and I had no tightness in my back. Once again I expressed my excitement for the class and for Rachel as a instructor. I plan to make this a regular part of my life. I hope everyone incorporates Yoga to their lives.
