I had high hopes for Cluck Shack because I love fried chicken and make it a point to try fried chicken everywhere 1 go. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing versions I've had. The boneless fried chicken was so heavily battered that it overwhelmed the chicken itself. It felt like 1 was eating mostly breading, and the flavor was nothing special. The one standout was the fries-they were absolutely amazing. Crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best part of the meal. While the site mentions catering, it really needs to be specific in both yelp and the site that this place is not a restaurant. No dining in and no take out. I was excited to try this chicken sandwich place after realizing it was a fairly new eatery. Who doesn't love a chicken sandwich? Parking can be found behind the restaurant in the alley or upfront on Ventura Blvd. The restaurant interior is small but there are a few tables inside and two tables on the small patio out front. The lady taking our order was very nice. We ordered a fried chicken sandwich, a grilled one and an order of fries. Patio is cozy, lit with fairy lights at night. Food came out in about 15 minutes. Fries were battered, crisp and good. The sandwiches were presented so nice, chicken, flavorful slaw mixed in a sauce complementary to East Asian foods, all sitting on a buttery, branded brioche bun. Here's where a couple stars had to be knocked off though. The chicken portion was so thin, I could barely make out the flavor of it over the strong slaw flavors. The fried version was a little thicker due to the batter but the grilled one was...measly, I hate to say it. At ten bucks a sandwich, I would've hoped there would be a bit more chicken on it! With a day of playoff football we craved chicken wings so we decided to give Cluck Shack a try. We were not disappointed. The chicken wings are crunchy and not oily. The chicken itself didn't have much flavor but the sauces were great. Soy garlic was ok. We really liked sweet and spicy. What a great new neighborhood spot! My husband and I went last night after driving by for weeks and thank gkd we did. We absolutely loved our experience. we ordered the chicken sandwich and boneless wings with the sweet butter sauce. We definitely over ordered and took some wings home. The sandwich is the star of the show and I am still thinking about it. The fries were delish and I'm obsessed with the spicy mayo dipping sauce. They cook everything fresh so you do have to wait but that's what you get for good quality food. We will definitely return and are so happy to have this spot in the west valley! read more

The chicken sandwich here was so good! 10/10 easily. I also liked the fries, cabbage and Japanese drinks. I tried the soy garlic wings and the sweet spicy sauce on the side. The wings weren't my favorite, about an 8/10, but they were still pretty good. I will definitely try the butter flavor if I go back. The honest feedback is that while the shop is super cute and the sandwiches are delicious, the bun to chicken ratio is simply too high; meaning there is hardly any meat in the sandwiches. I've had countless chicken sandwiches. This is among the best. The chicken itself was cooked absolutely perfectly. Crunchy on the outside and still super juicy on the inside. Has a slightly sweet and slightly spicy thinly sliced asian slaw on it and pickles. Really well done sandwich. We also had some wings. Also cooked excellently. The butter sauce and the sweet/spicy sauce were both very good. The butter sauce was more unique so Id recommend at least trying it. Don't let butter in the name keep you away. He also has some unique Japanese craft beers in bottles. The one I had was excellent. It was just the owner working when we were there, so please be patient if it is busy, as he does everything from taking orders to cooking the food. Piece of chicken was very well cooked and I must admit the bread was super buttery. But it lacked any real flavor, all I really tasted was a semi mayode coleslaw. The french fries were oily, and no salt for seasoning. I did like the fact that they were battered, but if only that had more flavor. It's Sunday at 8:50pm (July 12). I placed an order for a chicken sandwich for pickup at 8:45pm. We drive there and it's closed with no explanation. We try calling their number and it goes to voicemail. What the hell? Just wrapped up lunch with my boyfriend at the Cluck Shack, and am officially obsessed! This little spot on Ventura is truly a small gem for delicious wings at an unbeatable price. Parking is available in both the back lot + on the street so no worries about that (there's a narrow hallway that leads from the back lot to the front right next to the restaurant so you don't have to walk around the corner). The cashier was polite and friendly, and explained all the flavors + gave great recommendations. We ordered 12 wings with three different flavors, a side of coleslaw, and two drinks for less than $40 (I think the total was $36!) and the portions were so generous! We waited about 15 minutes for food and enjoyed our meal inside (not a HUGE amount of seating but plenty inside and out). The wings were absolutely delicious. My favorite was the Soy Garlic, and it was bursting with flavor (aka literally juice was spilling out with every bite), and even the saucy wings were crispy. The coleslaw was perfect - Asian style without heavy mayo + flavors, and gave the perfect amount of freshness we needed to balance out the wings. Not only do they have wings, but they also have a chicken sandwich for only $8.99, and if the wings were this good, I can only imagine how yum the sandwich is :) they also had dessert options too, but we were so full that we'll have to try those next time! The Chicken is fried to perfection. I order the dark meat strips with no sauce as the chicken is prepared perfectly. It is not oily, and it has the right amount of crunch. The service is great. The food is very delicious with a lot of love and care put into it. It's a small spot with some outdoor seating and very comfortable to eat at.
