Every year my sister comes to visit from Minnesota. Our first stop after picking her up at LAX is Norm's Van Nuys. It's a family tradition between the two of us. When we got there, we were warmly greeted by Kristina, one of the servers. She was WONDERFUL and made our time there so fun and spectacular!!! She was so helpful in helping us decide what to get and kept my drink refills coming!! We stayed there 4 hours chatting and she made the whole day bright!! Friday night at Norms and it was a win. Waited about 10 minutes, got seated, and the hostess and server welcomed us with big smiles. Service was quick, the breakfast sandwich was loaded with meat on a soft bun, the tots were crispy, and the pancakes were fluffy and huge. The coffee came out piping hot too. My only gripe is charging $2 extra for veggies on the sandwich--that should've been included. Other than that, I'd definitely be back! read more

Norms is a late night diner staple. Open 24/7, it's always busy but they always have room for everyone who walks through their doors. Mornings and holidays are when it's most packed. The employees hustle and bustle to get the food out in a timely manner. You never have to worry about waiting for the check as it's always dropped off at your table for you to pay at the front counter whenever you're ready. The menu is your standard diner fare, with breakfast being the most filling. They have lots of booths and tables for every configuration if you're coming with a group. The interior is as clean as could be, and the restrooms require codes to access. Overall Norms is pretty aces when it comes to diners. It's a good place to unwind and catch up, have a family meal, grab a quick bite with friends, share a milkshake with your sweetie, or have a nice cup of Joe (their Colombian coffee is strong!). Can't say enough good things about this place. The food is always delicious. Portions are huge. I can come here anytime and enjoy trying out all their delicious foods. Service was great. We love it. It was so fast so very ideal if you were hungry. Lastly I noticed the updated retro decor of the entire interior space of the restaurant. 2026/02/07 update: Today was a good day to come here for lunch, I was expecting the wait to be long but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised to see no wait, I got seated immediately. My friend treated me to lunch here for my birthday. Their menu changed from 2 months ago. I was kinda looking forward to a T-bone steak trio but they changed it to a NY Steak Trio. It was good and filling, but I still prefer the T-bone steak trio. The service was friendly and professional and attentive. Jessenia was very nice and attentive with our group even at 4AM, lol. She was great at taking our orders and making sure we had everything we needed. The 1/3rd T-Bone & Eggs plate was perfect (although I really wish the "eggs" were larger, it seemed pretty small) since it came with hashbrowns and pancakes. The food hit very hard, and the steak was cooked to our liking!!! It was okay in terms of flavor. I wish it was warmer and cozier inside, they don't close the front door and leave it open. It was super chilly out and they still had their ceiling fans on at high speed. Some super sketch people around the area, so just be aware. Norms will forever feel like home to me. I've been coming to this location for as long as I can remember. I especially love the feel & look inside during the holiday season. It could get busy during lunch or dinner hours but usually won't wait over 30 minutes. My parents eat there weekly. Recently I joined them on one of their lunch dates. I've been to the one in West Hollywood a couple of times, and while that one has a roomier entrance and easier parking layout, this spot still had plenty of charm. The parking area here felt a bit more congested, especially getting in, but once inside the experience made up for it. We went on a Friday night, so there was a bit of a wait. I was told 15-20 minutes but was pleasantly surprised--it ended up being only about 8 minutes. The host was friendly and welcoming. Our family of three was seated in a cozy booth, and I really liked how the layout creates smaller, more intimate sections--it gives it that classic, old-school diner feel. Our server, Ms Kristina was amazing (just like so many other reviews have said). She was warm, engaging, and attentive without being overbearing. Great customer service--she checked in on us several times throughout the meal. The food came out hot and fresh. The onion rings were a bit crispier than I prefer, but everything else was on point. The fried fish was basic but perfectly cooked--light, golden, and crispy. I added some freshly chopped onions and pickles to give it a little extra flavor, and it was perfect. It's definitely a nostalgic, old-school spot with a relaxed, friendly vibe. This place was very popular on a Sunday afternoon assuming it was a church rush but we got sat (our party of 4) within 15 minutes which was very impressive. They really know how to provide quick and quality service and turn the tables around fast. I ordered the "Classic breakfast" which included two eggs of choice (I got over medium), hash browns, choice of bacon or sausage (I got bacon) and choice of toast or pancakes (I got pancakes). I also ordered the "Jamaica," agua Fresca and it was so refreshing. Our servers name was "Dolly" and she was very kind and helpful to us. The restaurant maintained a clean environment. Diner was COMPLETELY full with a wait too and he came to check on us, refill coffee/water, and even after the check he kept the service up!! GO PEDRO!!! I've dined at various times over the years at a few of the Norm's restaurants. This one has a great, old school diner ambiance. The menu is diverse. My visits are usually very early AM so I'm a breakfast dude here. A good selection of omelettes, various egg dishes, waffles and French toast. I love their pancakes with an egg scramble with cheese, bacon, salsa and green onion. The service is always very good here as is the food which is reasonably priced for the quality. Norm's is open 24 hours and I love that it's always available when I'm hungry in the AM. Norm's never disappoints. read more

If you want a hearty meal at a reasonable price, I strongly recommend Norms Restaurant. I recently went ti the Van Nuys location and I especially appreciated our server, Kristina. She was super friendly and efficient. She would constantly check on our table to see if we needed refils or any other item. This location is usually packed but not that day. I think that the reason it was not busy was due to the 3 World Cup soccer games that day. We actually would have stayed home ourselves but we were celebrating an Uncle's birthday that day at Norm's. We did suggest to the server that they would have probably had more clients that day if they would have a TV or two in the main seating area. It was just a suggestion. I was a bit disappointed that the value combos were not being sold during the weekend but only during the week. Please bring back this value combos 7 days a week. With the way the economy is right now, every little bit helps! read more

I want to give an awesome Shout out to the Best Server Ever ... Kristina, at Norms Restaurant on Sherman Way ;) !!!! My friends and I took my mom out to her favorite place, Norms for her 82nd Birthday this Friday the 26th. It also happened to be National Pancake Day where for 99 cents you can get pancakes for dine-in or take out. Pancakes at Norms are my mom's favorite. We all ordered pancakes to take home!!!! The food and service was excellent!! We ordered appetizer sample plate, club sandwich, fish and chips, chicken fettuccine Alfredo, porter house steak with eggs, t-bone steak with eggs (both with hash browns and pancakes), tres leches for mom and we also shared the large sundae. Watermelon lemonade with Boba was a hit as well as strawberry milkshake. The corn bread was great, too. Kristina came out with the deserts and candle and got our side of the restaurant to sing my mom "Happy Birthday "!!! We all had a blast and I can't believe its Norms 75th yr anniversary !!!!
