WOW! What a disappointment! Couldn't wait to visit this historic site and wasted $100 for a 2 hour visit to their Feziwig's Feast dinner theatre! Tasteless food arrived cold with no mention of what each course even was. Could have gotten better food at the local school cafeteria! You get a half filled glass of wine for 4 bucks one time and 5 bucks the next trip to the bar?? The play/performance was mediocre at best. I only eat burgers at Clyde. There's no comparison to other places; the cheesecake is very good. New items are offered --- and are very good. Compared to the Duluth grill---the cost is less, they don't have to crowd everyone in and I can have wine or beer or something else with my visit. AMAZING! We stopped in on a Saturday after an event and the kitchen had already closed (though dessert was still available). Mother's Day was a absolute mess. Our 23$ salmon came out cold after a 1.5 hour long wait during lunch and they gave us a minuscule amount of soup for an main dish. I brought my family there and they were not impressed. We were seated right away and the host was friendly. Our server was very unfriendly and brought us incorrect orders which I understand can sometimes be the kitchen's fault but when asked about correcting it, she was horribly rude and just walked away. Our drinks were never filled once and we waited over an hour and ten minutes for our food. Nothing was apologized for and we were even being patient and kind since we understand people and restaurants can have bad days. I won't go back, I wish others better luck than what we had. My boyfriend and I decided to go here for our date night. The food was excellent and the service was also excellent. It was very busy due to Clyde being popular, also there seemed to be an event going on. Since it was so busy and there is very limited table seating we decided to sit at the bar. My only complaint doesn't even have to do with the service, but the way people around us were acting. I think it's basic manors not to crowd around people when they are trying to eat. More than once I had someone standing too close to me trying to order a drink. It made it very hard for me to enjoy my meal. I got up to use the restroom and when I came back I had to move around 2 people just to sit back in my chair. I would suggest Clyde have some sort of line or area where people order? I just wasn't amused with how overly crowded it was with people reaching over and around me just to buy drinks. Again, I will certainly be going back. read more

both the pretzel and the walleye were so over cooked. the dijon for the pretzel was bitter and watery and my moscow mule i ordered was gross. it tasted like cheap ginger beer and nothing else. the atmosphere is cool, but i would not suggest the food or the drinks here. waiter was nice but he didnt really pay attention to us and never asked how the food or drinks was. it took a long while for the food to come to the table. probably would have been better if it never came. would have saved alot of disappointment. read more

As residents of Duluth, we have frequented the Clyde several times for convenience reasons (dinner after hockey on Sunday nights at Heritage). Unfortunately, our last visit was less than exceptional. After being told (3 times) by the wait staff that "someone will be with you shortly", after 40 minutes of waiting, we still had yet to receive waters, or place a drink order. It appeared as though the wait staff had asked the bartender to assist them, but he was simply overwhelmed with the ONE person sitting at the bar! Whew! Needless to say, we got up and left, and enjoyed a lovely dinner at TBonz, where there was one cook, and one bartender, flawlessly managing approximately 30 customers' drink and food requests. Thank you, TBonz! As for the Clyde, you're lucky we're Duluth residents. I'd be embarrassed to have tourists visit the Clyde and be serviced as poorly as we were. read more

The burgers we had were burnt and very dry. My wife sent hers back and was still charged for it. Our server rolled her eyes at my wife when she asked to see the management to have it taken off the bill. Our server never cleared our plates or asked others in our party if they wanted leftovers boxed up. Food was below average at best.service was awful. What a great old manufacturing building transformed into a fantastic restaurant. I love the build-out, and use of the old Clyde Ironworks setting for a open and inviting place. And the smell of the word burning ovens is awesome! The waitress was great, offering suggestions and her opinion, which all turned out to be great advice. I ordered a Clyde Reuben sandwich. They cure and slow-cook the pastrami in house. It is topped with a kimchi sauerkraut. It was without doubt (and I do not say this lightly) the best Rueben I have ever tasted in my life! At the suggestion of the waitress I ordered half chips and half fries. She suggested a Parmesan, dill dip for the chips and fries. Yum! It has been almost a week since our visit to Clyde's, and my tastebuds continue to remember the ecstasy of that Rueben. The only negative - when I return I will not be given a chance to taste the restaurant's other great offerings - because I'll order the Reuben every time! read more

As it is near our apartment, my fiance and I go here pretty regularly. The layout can be a bit confusing, but once you know the flow it's not a big deal. The food we've had there has been consistently great--I've never had one complaint either on my part or from anyone we have brought there. I recommend the Four Seasons Salad (it switches up seasonally, hence the name), any of the desserts, and if they still offer it ask for the off-menu grilled chicken sandwich. Grilled chicken on a Hawaiian bun with bacon, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a spicy mayo. Amazing. read more

Ate there with my husband and a friend last week. I was impressed with the look of the place the moment we walked in but was surprised we were seated upstairs. Nobody was eating on the main floor. They had this enormous chess board for anybody to try their hand at chess there. Our food was very good. I had the southwest chicken with homemade chips. Hubby had ribs and our friend had a pizza. We were all impressed with the food and will definitely return. By the way...the homemade chips were to die for! They had a little dance floor in the back too and a little game area. We have been here twice in the last few weeks and loved it both times. We have a toddler and the added noise/ambiance of the building space helps to eat up his loud screams and squeals, which we love. We have been here twice now and let me tell you that will be the last time. The only reason i gave this place one star is because I like the building. Our servers have been grumpy and they both ignored us. We had to walk up to a random worker and ask for silverware since the server didn't check on us nor did she care. The cheese bread was so hard I couldn't bite through it, my boyfriend ordered a burger medium rare that came out well done and tasted like a hockey puck. Was there on a busy Wed night (a favorite local bluegrass band was playing) with a large party of 4 tables who had booked in advance. Even though the majority of the restaurant guests had made reservations as all were avid band followers, the staff were overwhelmed and very unapologetic, short staffed and poorly trained. Tried checking in with the manager who was not helpful if not downright rude. Lost reservations (even the bands friends!), lost dinners (2 at our table who never got fed), incredibly poor service, bad drinks and so-so food. Rather poor layout to the restaurant as they tried to use an old historic building but with mediocre results. Highly suggest going elsewhere and passing on Clyde - sorry guys. PS: the band was great so go to the Duluth Grill, have dinner, then skip over to Clyde to hear the band! read more

We were a group of 4 and arrived during lunch hour today. Not overwhelmingly busy. Once we ordered it took about 45 mins for the food to come, and one of the orders was incorrect. Waitress was not very attentive and didn't check on us to see if all was well once we started on our meals. She kept filling out waters and that's it. No further chit chat, it was clear she was in a rush mode. I ordered the pastie. It was a very thick hard crust that I had trouble eating and couldn't even use my knife to slice through. Inside the filling was soggy and not very tasty like a traditional pastie. The other 3 orders were burgers and fries. Why the 45 min wait?? Unacceptable. I really love the atmosphere due to the historical nature of the building, but the staff does nothing to enhance the experience and again, there were no apologies given for the order mixup and the delay, no comps offered either due to their dropping the ball. Had they held themselves accountable and apologized, maybe we wouldn't have walked out frustrated. I'll think twice before going back again. read more

The atmosphere was good but the sandwich I had was awful. I tried the Pulled Chicken Hoagie. The description said, "hand-pulled tender chicken with spicy pico de gallo, cilantro lime aioli and topped with ripened avocado." What I got was a bland chicken salad sandwich. There was about a 1/2 tsp of flavorless pico de gallo, I tasted NO lime or cilantro, and the thinest piece of avacado imaginable. The fries were good anyway. My son had his wedding at Clyde's. Working with Clyde's was a big disappointment and caused alot of stress. They were horrible about returning your call, felt bad for the ones who answered the phone, they got the brunt of it. Said they would work with you on blocking off rooms (since we were all from out of town), their leads were dead ends. It took 20-25 minutes before all the guests had a chair to sit down on for the reception (chairs had to be brought down from mezzanine). There was no mention of an extra 18% gratuity tacked on until a week before the wedding (when they wanted their payment in full). Their explanation for the extra charge was more staff needed to be on hand and for clean up. If they would have actually had more staff it would not have taken so long for people to be seated. The decorator who works with Clyde's did not complete the decorating. Lights were strung, but not long enough to be plugged in. The tulle was not hung up from above. The florist whom was the same person as the decorator did not have all the flowers done. Father of the bride had to go pick up some of the flowers so they could have them for pictures since only some of them were done and delivered. Grandparent's nor mother's ever got any flowers for the day. Not cliche for the bride & bridesmaid's to hang out in the bathroom before the wedding. The place is big enough that they should be able to accommodate a room for this. I give them two stars since the food was good and it is neat looking inside. read more

clyde iron works restaurant was complete disappointment, the food was bad,and over priced took 50 min to get a mushroom and swiss and onion rings which was luke warm at best. wife and daughter had spaghetti and the sausage and meatballs looked like they were made days ago and rewarmed and very dry. my son had chicken and same results the garlic bread was hard and chewed like piece of old bubble gum, I gave them one star for the sake that the experience is over. save your money and time and just settle for a fast food you will get hotter food that maybe you can finish it all. read more
