Fantastic chicken! Super flavorful, crispy, and moist. We were so excited to eat it that I forgot to take a photo of them. We got the spicy garlic and boy was it spicy! Not overwhelmingly so though but packed full of flavor. We also got the mozzarella sticks and they were great as well! The only reason it doesn't earn a full 5 stars is because the service wasn't very friendly and the floors were absurdly sticky for some reason. The food was worth it though so we'd still be back!

CM Chicken is a very strong contender to all of the other Korean fried chicken spots, but this restaurant may take the lead for me. The snow onion chicken has me reminiscing on the flavor as it literally has me drooling. I look forward to coming back again soon :)

Delicious chicken with huge portions! Pro tip, tell them that you write Yelp reviews and they'll give you a free specialty drink! Each of us came starving, got either a half chicken or the tenders, and we all went home with takeout boxes. I read a number of reviews that said the chicken was mostly breading and very little meat, but we all felt that there was a good ratio of breading to lots of meat. I got the green onion tenders with soy garlic sauce. I have a terrible spice tolerance so I wanted something not spicy, but these still had a slight kick. It wasn't too bad (even for my weak taste!) but a kid with no spice tolerance would not want to eat it. I love green onion, but the way that they're sliced makes the onions a little hard to eat, so be prepared to feel slightly stupid trying to maneuver the long strands into your mouth. There's plenty of seating inside and it's all self service. They don't have complimentary water, so bring a water bottle or be prepared to purchase a drink.

Lunch special still delicious and worthwhile -- I believe it's 11-2 Also a place you can work at with WIFI and outlets for 3 tables

I was recently here and had the garlic soy wings and my husband had half a chicken topped with green onions and lemon wasabi sauce. The batter was light and the garlic soy sauce on the wings was fantastic. I wasn't a huge fan of the lemon wasabi but my husband enjoyed it. I did not know this originally but for his order, only the green onions were tossed in sauce while the chicken underneath was served plain. Even though we dined in and ate the food right after it was served some parts of the soy garlic wings had already lost its crunchiness possibly from the steam and/or sauce. I didn't give a higher score even though I thought the garlic soy wings were pretty solid overall because towards the end of the meal there were 1-2 pieces of chicken that just tasted really off as though it was past due. I don't know if it was just me, but my husband's order seemed fine. Aside from that, the other pieces were great.

Ordering wings is better than the whole chicken. Tikku Garlic Soy has a spiciness to it, good flavor. Original Honey Garlic wings has a slight sweetness to it, but not much of a garlic flavor. The wings came out fresh and crunchy. The spicy gizzards are a must! Be warned that it has heat to it! I would pass on the Cheese Monster Fries... the cheese powder on top tastes very artificial and I didn't like that the powder was on the sweeter side.

I've been wanting to come here for a while now. I've got a couple of things to say about this place, lol. The chicken is delicious and very crispy, lol. I give them that. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt like there wasn't much chicken on the bone itself. Like I felt like I was eating a lot of flavorful skin. If that was different, I feel like it would put this place over the top. But I don't feel it's their just yet. I do like their sauces and flavor options, though. The honey garlic is delicious! The service here is good. If I were you, I would order ahead cause we ordered to go inside the restaurant. We waited about 15-20 minutes for it. That's seems to be the case if you order inside. Maybe I came at a busy time, but everyone else who ordered to-go was waiting a while. The vibe in here is chill. It's in a good location and close to cira Green. That's where we went to eat our chicken. Come check it out.

Delicious fried chicken! I recently went here to get the tikku chicken to go. The ambiance is plain but plenty of seating. Given the spiciness of the wings, I wish the store had pitchers of water available for customers if needed. I got my chicken within the promised 15 minutes and absolutely loved it. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, sweet, and spicy-make sure to have plenty of napkins! Although a bit pricy at over $18 after tax, I got a good portion. CM Chicken also has the added advantage of being by Drexel's campus and a four-block walk to 30th St. Station (and the best-looking restaurant nearby if you need food).

Best chicken in the city. I've done several reviews of this restaurant. They hit every..........time!!!!!!!!!!, haven't had a bad thing yet. Service is excellent, expect a little wait about 20 mins per order. They cook everything fresh so it's well worth the wait. If your in a rush, order online and it will be ready when you arrive. Portion size is well the time and money. My favorite sauce for the chicken is the curry and mild garlic.

Inside! One of the best Korean chicken places in Philly!

CM chicken is one of my favorite Korean chicken spots in Philly. I highly recommend every one visit if they're in the area! Their vibe is casual and there are plenty of seats for small and bigger groups. It is not a full service restaurant, so you order up front and wait for your food so tips are encouraged but not required! The chicken is always made to order so the food is very fresh, hot, and crispy. For a very reasonable price you can get a bunch of food. I recommend their tikkudak and crispy gizzard! Make sure to order a side of the pickled radishes because it pairs perfectly with the chicken! Highly recommend this place! They also have good deals that they promote on their instagram so make sure to follow them @cmchicken_philly

Tikku Garlic Soy Korean Fried Chicken - amazing even for take out
    Anna S.

When I tell people I'm craving KFC, it's never the fast food chain we're familiar with - it's always Korean Fried Chicken. Highly addictive! I got a take out of the Tikku style garlic soy - these chicken wings/drumsticks are fried then baked in a charcoal oven for "extra crisp and crunch". I kept mumbling "wow" each time I take a bite into this amazing chicken. The one downside is the KFC does not come with side dishes of pickled daikon with is commonly a complimentary side dish. I ordered two separately. I would highly recommend since they are only $1 per cup. The pickled daikon really helps cleanse your palate and cuts the grease of the chicken. The fried chicken was amazing even as a takeout order!

    Tikku Red Hot Pepper
    Shifa A.

I love a good Korean fried chicken! Add some sauce to it and I am in my happy place. CM chicken is a great addition to the Fried chicken culture in Philly . Portion size is pretty substantial as well! Make sure you have company. I was not a fan of the sandwich and the tikku red hot pepper is no joke ! So if you like spicy.... This one is right up your ally!

Came here with a group of 10 and ordered 7 rounds of chicken, which was the perfect amount (granted we were all pretty hungry). I am honestly not the biggest fan of Korean fried chicken because I prefer larger pieces of chicken, but these pieces were all very meaty and tasted high quality. The best is easily the snow onion. It's sweet, savory, and the onions cut through the greasiness of the chicken. Spicy garlic is pretty spicy. Great spot to come with friends.

The chicken sandwich was crispy and tender although I would have liked more sauce on the sandwich to balance out the bun. So when my wife said she wanted a little something while we wandered through a heatwave in Philadelphia, I thought this would be a safe harbor. It was not. We ordered cheese fries and a banana pudding milkshake. The fries arrived looking as if they had been cooked last Tuesday and kept under a damp towel since. The cheese was cold and had formed a sort of yellow skin. It reminded me of school cafeteria food, but with better marketing. The shake was okay. The banana flavor was nice enough. But the Vanilla Wafer Cookie Crumble inside was too ambitious for a straw. Every third sip turned into a game of suction-based roulette. You could pay fifty cents extra for rainbow sprinkles to support GLAAD. That was a good idea I could get behind. The execution, like the fries, was half-hearted. It felt more like an upsell than a cause. The worst part was the store itself. We had planned to sit inside for a few minutes. Restore our core temperatures to something in the double-digits. Regain a little hope. But the tables looked like they had not been cleaned since lunchtime and the floor was trying to become one with the food. We took our sad little snack and walked back to the hotel. Two stars. One for the idea of Shake Shack. One for the milkshake trying its best. That is all.

I had a hankering for chicken and waffles today and I could've gone to a number of restaurants in…read morethe area for this, but today I decided to try my one go-to place for the best chicken sandwiches in town: Hangry Joe's. I've seen the chicken and waffles on their menu many times and was always hesitant on ordering it only because I didn't want to feel disappointment and possible regret for not ordering one of their well-known, delicious options of chicken sandwich (the Sando) or chicken fingers. I don't know why I was so afraid to order it other than thinking the waffle wouldn't be that good, but I was so very wrong. Their chicken and waffles are great! Let's start with the chicken... fried to perfection and slightly lathered in your choice of mild to spicy sauce, these chicken tenders are simply amazing... and huge. Bite into a chicken tender and juices shoot out of it. That's how juicy they are. The waffle (divided into quarters) was so good. Lightly crisped and dusted with powdered sugar on the outside and a beautiful soft texture inside, this is a great waffle. You get syrup for the waffle and your choice of sauce for the chicken. All for $12.95. So good! Other options include a Korean chicken nugget combo that includes steamed white rice and fries, chicken wraps, and wings. Service is pretty quick. I ordered to go ("ASAP - 10 mins") and the order was ready in 14, but please don't fault them for this. Once you taste the chicken, you will forgive them for any tardiness.

The colorful, cartoonish decor of the restaurant's interior put me off a little at first. The brightly colored, chicken-themed cartoons on the walls seemed to me like it was geared for kids. It is most certainly not. Hangry Joe's is made for chicken lovers. The choices on the menu were all tempting. Every dish on the menu features chicken as a comfort food, and I am all about it. I ordered the Chicken Sando, which was both huge and delicious. My pal got the chicken wings, which he said were the best he ever ate. (He specifically raved about the dipping sauce.) Now I want wings! There are five levels of heat for your chicken, from mild to smokin hot, and so everybody, even those afraid of heat, will find something to their liking on the menu. The service was good, and though the prices are a bit on the high side for fast food (we paid about $30 for two meals.), the amazing chicken and accompanying flavors make a trip here well worth it. In fact, in the two days since I tried Hangry's, three friends from NY who had tried it during their stay here over the weekend made an stop there before heading home to bring home some more of that chicken. Now that's good chicken!

The Love is better. The space is beautiful, the service is consistently warm, and Stephen Starr's fingerprints are all over it. I love the painted white brick, the floral artwork along the walls, the street-level energy, and the outdoor seating. I also remember taking the elevator upstairs once. I can't remember whether we actually stayed and ate up there or asked to move back downstairs, but the space was charming and extremely private. It would be a great setting for a group dinner or event. Personally, I prefer downstairs. It's darker, livelier, and I like being at street level. The menu historically leaned more heavily into elevated Southern comfort food, which has never been my favorite style of cooking. That's probably why I've tended to prefer The Love for lunch over dinner, especially when Philadelphia has so many Starr restaurants competing for the same night out. I used to get what I remember as a salmon and farro bowl, although the menu appears to have evolved since then. Whatever the exact iteration was, I loved it. Fish and farro are both right in my wheelhouse. I've also enjoyed the kale salad and other lighter dishes. The thing I remember most vividly, though, is the cornbread. It is outrageously good and reason enough to order something for the table. I also give Starr credit for continuing to broaden the range of food styles in his portfolio. Once you've built restaurants across Italian, French, Mexican, English, steakhouses, seafood, and the rest, there are only so many obvious boxes left to check. The Love feels like its own lane: distinctly American, approachable, comfort-driven, and still polished enough to feel like a Starr restaurant. Looking at the menu now, it seems broader than I remember, with more options that appeal to me, and I'd be psyched to go back. The Love probably isn't the first Starr restaurant I'd choose purely based on cuisine, but that says more about the depth of his Philadelphia portfolio than it does about this restaurant. The room, hospitality, location, and execution are all excellent. I'd happily come here any day. Starr doesn't miss.

They lacked flavor and tasted like plain boiled chicken placed on a tortilla, which was disappointing. We also ordered the Tres Salsa and chips. Out of the three salsas, the green and red were the standouts and packed the most flavor. For drinks, we ordered margaritas on the rocks ($5, plus $2 additional for flavor). I tried mango and passion fruit -- the mango tasted more like orange juice, while the passion fruit maintained its flavor much better. If you're looking for a family-friendly indoor/outdoor spot, this is a great option. I noticed a good mix of couples and singles, which made for a nice atmosphere.
