Glad one opened up in Center City, we'd drive to the one in South Jersey or the one all the way in North East Philly. We had our meal 2 hours after it was prepared because a Door Dash delivery turned into a pick up situation due to not being able to find a driver. Nonetheless, dropping a couple of stars because the chicken pieces in the burgers varied significantly. There was one piece that was 1.75x the other piece. Secondly, one box of fries was overflowing while the other wasn't. The packaging wasn't consistent which I think can go a long way for a franchise's branding. Visited this location due to my son wanting to try out the menu. (We actually wanted to compare Asad's Hot Chicken vs Dave's Hot Chicken vs Haven Hot Chicken (in Connecticut). I ordered: Dave's Number 4 -- 1 Slider with Fries: Sliders are served on a potato bun with kale slaw, pickles and drizzled with Dave's sauce | Requested No Spice and Cheese added to the slider My son ordered: Dave's Number 1 -- 2 Tenders with Fries: All tenders are served with sliced bread, pickles and a side of Dave's Sauce (Mild) Regular Oreo Top Loaded Shake -- Vanilla We arrived to a restaurant with a long line of people placing orders and waiting for orders. There was one young lady on the register and another "handing" completed orders to patrons. We placed our order and then proceeded to wait ... and wait ... and wait. People who came after us received their food before us. The least they could have done was make the shake. They didn't -- the young lady was busy trying to get everyone's orders in. We were waiting for about thirty-five minutes or more. (We got there at about 6:20 pm and didn't leave with our food until about 7:10 pm) I asked for no spice and cheese added. The fries were a nice crisp texture and I absolutely loved the pickles. My son didn't (I ate his pickles). The chicken sandwich was ok. I would definitely order it again. My son thought his meal was good but not worth the wait. He also was disappointed that the shake was a basic Vanilla Shake with the Oreos on top and not mixed in. I like the Philly-themed murals in the dining area. Staff was welcoming for first time customers like me and she explained the menu well. You can choose the level of heat. You need to sign a waiver for the hottest one. I picked the "little spice ". I didn't taste any heat at all. The chicken was very tender and moist. Nice crunchy coating and not greasy at all. But, very plain, boring, and lacks of seasoning even after I add the sauce. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Downtown Philadelphia Location I'm in Philadelphia for work this week, and every time I visit, Dave's Hot Chicken is a must. This was my first time at the downtown location, and it definitely did not disappoint. I placed my order through the app to earn rewards, then walked in to dine. The restaurant was pretty busy, but I found a seat and waited about 15-20 minutes for my order. One thing I always appreciate about Dave's locations is the vibrant artwork on the walls--this one had that same signature style I've seen at other spots. A nice touch is the TV screen that displays orders as they're ready, so there's no need to keep checking at the counter. Once my order was up, I grabbed it, picked up some condiments, and sat back down to enjoy. The food was, as always, amazing. I stuck with my usual--Extra Hot--though one of these days I'll gather the courage to try the Reaper . Overall, a great experience. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

So happy to finally have a Dave's Hot Chicken open near where I live! I went on the Grand Opening date and there was a bit of a wait to order (about 15 minutes). The staff was very friendly and expressed great hospitality. The food didn't take long to arrive as my buzzer went off about 5 minutes after I sat down at a table. The food came out fresh and hot (both temperature and spiciness). They provided extra Dave's sauce, honey, ketchup, cutlery, and extra pickles on the side. I got the Dave's #2: 2 Sliders w/ Fries for $14.99 and think that is the best bang for your buck out of the whole menu! The chicken had a strong paprika flavor, the chicken was juicy, and buns were soft and buttery! The chicken was huge and only half the chicken could be held by the buns! The vanilla milkshake topped with Oreos was sweet with a good milkshake consistency that is not too thick so that it is still drinkable! The staff did come around asking how everyone was doing so I appreciate the hospitality. The store was clean with great decor, emitting Philly vibes. This will be my go-to fast food joint in Center City and will definitely come back here to work my way up to the reaper spice level! read more

Dave's Hot Chicken is amazing. Their "Sliders" are actually full sandwiches, and their chicken is flavorful! Even the fries have flavor seasoning on them that makes them addictive! I've ordered twice using Uber Eats. Here's my experience: Positives: The flavor and quality of the food is amazing. I love that the vegetarian option isn't an impossible meat substitute, but Cauliflower "Tenders" (A cauliflower 'steak'). Even the cauliflower is breaded and seasoned amazingly. For the sandwiches they gave me a bunch of pickles, love that. I got lite-mild and it was the perfect bit of spice and just a tiny bit of heat. Neutrals: The Mac and cheese is alright. I've had better from other places, but I've also had worse from other places. The portion is a little small, but it was nice to not have to upcharge to switch from fries to M&C for my side. Negatives: Only some small nitpicks. When requesting honey and ketchup packets, they were conservative with them, only one honey packet and like two ketchup packets. And the second time I ordered they didn't throw in the Dave's sauce packet they say the combo comes with. When ordering 2 'sliders' I wish there was an option to choose one chicken and one cauliflower because to get them separately it would cost a couple bucks more to specify that through at least Uber, so I don't know if you can do it in person. Also both times the presentation was sloppy. They threw the chicken sandwiches in there and I had to essentially remake the sandwiches when I got them. A little more care would make it perfect. read more

This was good, but I'm not sure I'll be back. I had a single hot tender and fries. I really appreciated that "hot" (which is far from their spiciest option) is legitimately hot. However, neither the chicken nor the fries struck me as all that impressive. Both were fine. They just weren't anything special. I did not care for the sauce, which was too sweet. Service was quick and polite. Given the nutritional content here (almost 1,000 calories for a single tender and a smallish fries), I don't think I'll be back. read more

I appreciate the non meat and heat level options. I ordered online for pickup, it was a quick & easy process. I tried the cauliflower tender bites and they were good, would probably try the sandwich next time, it was reasonable priced and I likely will visit again. read more

Was looking forward to this place opening up here. Got a Combo and a soda. Someone very kindly took my tray, and I thought I'd just drink a refill before heading out. Someone else comes up and asks "Excuse me, did you order anything?" I point to the soda and it's met with "oh that's it?" The store is full of seating, other people don't have trays in front of them. Food amazing as always, the employees on the other hand were a piece of work (except the shift manager ). My friends ordered before/after me and they all got their food, I never got mine. I was patiently waiting until people who ordered way after me kept getting their food. Eventually, I checked in with the employees asking about my order number. They said they overlooked it but it would be ready in 4 minutes. I kept waiting and after it had been 50 minutes in total (for nuggets and fries) and I still had not gotten my order, I asked for a refund. They said they would do it but I wouldn't get my food, even though in that moment it was finally ready. The girl working said I wasn't getting a refund AND my food so she took it back. When I explained how long I'd been waiting, she continued to argue and was straight up rude. The man at the register also said I would get either a refund or the food but not both. I am never the type of person to ask for a refund but in this case I felt it was warranted. Resolution only happened once the shift manager got involved and he did throw in a free mac and cheese which was very nice. Just a frustrating experience and the girl working the late night shift was incredibly rude and disrespectful. read more

I love this place I got the sliders and the fries and they were super good. The service was pretty good and we ordered pretty quick. This place doesn't feel like a typical fried chicken place that was kind of dirty. It felt really clean inside and everything felt brand new.
