I like the Philly-themed murals in the dining area. Staff was welcoming for first time customers like me and she explained the menu well. You can choose the level of heat. You need to sign a waiver for the hottest one. I picked the "little spice ". I didn't taste any heat at all. The chicken was very tender and moist. Nice crunchy coating and not greasy at all. But, very plain, boring, and lacks of seasoning even after I add the sauce.

Dave's Hot Chicken - Downtown Philadelphia Location I'm in Philadelphia for work this week, and every time I visit, Dave's Hot Chicken is a must. This was my first time at the downtown location, and it definitely did not disappoint. I placed my order through the app to earn rewards, then walked in to dine. The restaurant was pretty busy, but I found a seat and waited about 15-20 minutes for my order. One thing I always appreciate about Dave's locations is the vibrant artwork on the walls--this one had that same signature style I've seen at other spots. A nice touch is the TV screen that displays orders as they're ready, so there's no need to keep checking at the counter. Once my order was up, I grabbed it, picked up some condiments, and sat back down to enjoy. The food was, as always, amazing. I stuck with my usual--Extra Hot--though one of these days I'll gather the courage to try the Reaper . Overall, a great experience. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

So happy to finally have a Dave's Hot Chicken open near where I live! I went on the Grand Opening date and there was a bit of a wait to order (about 15 minutes). The staff was very friendly and expressed great hospitality. The food didn't take long to arrive as my buzzer went off about 5 minutes after I sat down at a table. The food came out fresh and hot (both temperature and spiciness). They provided extra Dave's sauce, honey, ketchup, cutlery, and extra pickles on the side. I got the Dave's #2: 2 Sliders w/ Fries for $14.99 and think that is the best bang for your buck out of the whole menu! The chicken had a strong paprika flavor, the chicken was juicy, and buns were soft and buttery! The chicken was huge and only half the chicken could be held by the buns! The vanilla milkshake topped with Oreos was sweet with a good milkshake consistency that is not too thick so that it is still drinkable! The staff did come around asking how everyone was doing so I appreciate the hospitality. The store was clean with great decor, emitting Philly vibes. This will be my go-to fast food joint in Center City and will definitely come back here to work my way up to the reaper spice level!

Since I was last here, they added in self-ordering kiosks, which would theoretically improve ordering speed, except that they did so at the cost of not taking orders at the counter. Understandably, this was to help out the large flood of Doordash pickups coming through, but it was slower as most people take a lot longer to choose when self-ordering. Food came out fast, and was delicious! I ordered the Sandwich Combo, and it came out hot and fresh. Fries here are literally addictive-- I don't know why but I just keep eating and then eat my friends' fries too. Overall this location is well-decorate and kept clean. However, it's a lot more chaotic here with all the Doordash pickups coming through. I'd have retreated to the side of the restaurant to have a little reprieve from all the folks coming in and out. But overall, still a great place to eat!

My sister and husband liked their classic chicken sandwich but both agree that it needs to come with some kind of spread like mayo or maybe a house sauce to kick the roll up a notch. I also had an empanada on my ride home as a treat and boy was it - hot, crispy, and flavorful. I also like that the prices are kept down some by making a drink optional especially with the prices of soft drinks in Philly. The gentleman who took my order was very nice, patient, and helpful. The atmosphere is like a traditional fast food vibe. In the area? Check Them Out! I look forward to a return trip for their fried chicken, their unique sides, and their chicken bowl :0)

I found out that Pollo Campero recently opened and wanted to check it out. After doing a search on…read morethe chain, they advertise that they were among the top ten fast food chicken restaurants in the nation. The chicken I tried was decent, but not necessarily a big favorite of mine. Located in a former KFC which was closed for years and a Boston Market that never came to fruition, when I drove by a little before 2pm it was like a major event with traffic blocking Frankford Avenue, and a long line out the door. I decided anyway that if people like this place that much, I should wait it out. I parked my car (DO NOT PARK AT 7/11 or AutoZone - you'll get towed) and got in line. By the time I got to the entrance door, the line had grown even larger and snaked around the restaurant. Once inside, it was a mini amusement park ride with another line before getting to the cashier. Total time in line for me was about 75 minutes. If I took a shot with the drive through, it may have been a bit shorter, but I wanted to check out the inside of the place. Pollo Campero must be huge with the Hispanic population. I think I was the only non-Spanish speaker. The long line was well behaved and thankfully the weather was quite good with a full breeze. The restaurant had multiple staff in safety vests to direct traffic and one was at the door making sure that nothing got out of hand by restricting people entering the place. The clean place was packed with families, and the buzz was palpable. The two cashiers were asking people lots of questions and the young and friendly cashier I had was very soft spoken which required me to ask her to repeat a lot of the questions. I ended up getting a bunch of different things just to try and get a flavor of many different foods. I got a 4-piece mixed grilled and fried chicken, a chicken sandwich, and a 3-piece empanadas. Sides with everything I chose the rice, beans, coleslaw, and plantains. Overall, I liked all the food (I didn't eat all of it, just tried) and will have some for later meals. The fried chicken was crispy and I liked the grilled chicken more. Loved the plantains. The coleslaw was mayo based and had a kick to it. The chicken sandwich was dry and needed sauce on the average roll. I liked the empanadas but my wife was not impressed. They were full of chicken and they had a mustard like sauce inside which I enjoyed. The rice was bland, and beans were flavorful. It was about $36 total for everything. They have Pepsi products here (thumbs down) and also a machine with a trio of other choices (see my picture)! Pollo Campero is not my newest most favorite fried chicken place. But the food was good, and they have a loyalty program if you get their app. They also do catering. When i did a search, they appeared to be all over the Trenton, NJ area so I don't know if this is their first Philadelphia location. Anyway, I wish them much luck in the business. I'm sure the Popeyes across the street was jealous with Pollo Campero's huge outpouring of customers!

Ok, onto the eats! 1. Della Casa ($18): A 12-inch soft seeded sando layered with a schmear of balsamic sundried pepper spread, fresh mozz, and hot cappicola dried with Calabrian chili oil and filled with fresh arugula and house roasted eggplant slices. This was good, however, the eggplant felt kind out of place. The slices were large and a little bit too mushy for my liking and it felt like it could have benefitted from an extra meat or contrast to the softness from the mozz, such as fried eggplant instead. All in all a 7 out of 10. Good but wouldn't order again. 2. Turkey Salumeria ($18.50): Another (delicious) 12-inch soft seeded roll saturated with a delicious house creamy balsamic dressing (could have honestly drank this) + mild prov, LTO, sliced turkey and really great cherry pepper relish. This was a pretty basic, but all the parts came together to make a solid sandwich. I wouldn't necessarily order again but the combination of ingredients and the hellish relish made it a 7.5 out of 10. All in all, the quality of the ingredients, the combinations available on the menu and the stellar staff all make LK popular for good reason. While the selections we had this go around didn't wow us (just lacking a certain je ne sais quoi) I do look forward to going back to try the kale chx caesar, some of their cutlet sandos, roast beef and pork and of course the tomato pie and CCC's!
