Chickpea burger (it's called the real deal veggie) was really good, a good burger for vegetarians that don't like fake meat but want a veggie burger. The texture is kind of what you'd expect for a chickpea burger but the flavors are great, especially with the sauce they put on it. Hipcityveg is one of my go-tos for a delicious vegan chicken sandwich. The hipcityranch chicken sandwich is my personal fav - it's a good size sandwich! I do also really like the cheesesteak - not usually a fan of mushroom but this one is really the best texturally and flavor wise I've had. This is a good restraunt for someone else. It is exactly what it says it is. Vegitetian fast food. They have a tone of cheap vegiterian options ranging ranging from shakes to chicken nuggets. We got the chicken wrap and chicken nuggets with a shake. They were all cheap but also not a lot of food. The food itself was decent but also nothing memorable. It eas passable as it's imitations but since it's imitating fast food meat, the bar isn't very high. Considering the price of the food here compared to what you get, I think this place is just average. This is basically a vegan/vegetarian fast food joint with some burgers and cheesesteaks. I got the Philly Cheesesteak and the Ziggy burger. The Philly cheesesteak had a weird flavor profile to it that did not resemble much of a real Philly cheesesteak. Obviously it is not made out of meat but the texture wasn't all that great for what it is. The Ziggy burger was basically an impossible or beyond burger patty (I forgot which) with some veggie toppings. Not too impressed as I can make that myself at home for a fraction of the cost and the exact taste. The highlight here was actually the Bella mushroom side we got. They were just fried portobello mushrooms but the seasoning and the sauce they provided to dip them in was divine! Highly recommend this one. There is a student discount here if you happen to be a student. I think it was 10% off. Staff is nice and friendly here, vibes are just what you expect from other fast food joints. read more

We had so many people recommend this place to us, but... was it because it's a fully vegan restaurant and we eat vegan so the assumption was we were gonna love it? Because we did not. It's convenient and it's fast food: hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, shakes. It just all happens to be plant-based, but it's not done any better than what you could make at home (in quality or quantity). We got: - Ziggy Burger (a bacon cheeseburger with cheese, lettuce, onion, special sauce, on a toasted bun), $12.95: there was no bacon and the hamburger was the size of my palm. My partner said it was fine, but he wouldn't order again. - Miso Noodle Chick'n Salad: spicy glazed chick'n, udon noodles, romaine, carrot, cabbage, scallion, miso dressing), $11.95: I asked the person at the counter if there was a chance I could swap the spicy glazed chick'n for golden nuggets. She said yes, it wouldn't be a problem. But that isn't what happened. I got charged for an order of Golden Nuggets. The salad itself was mostly romaine lettuce, the udon noodles weren't cooked and they were all clumped together making them inedible (literally, I couldn't bite through them), and the dressing was so, so vinegary. - Golden Nuggets (their signature golden nuggets with choice of dipping sauce), $5.25: I wasn't allowed a dipping sauce because it was considered a side. I guess? These tasted exactly like the Gardein Ultimate Chick'n Nuggets (which I like!) these were just on the cold side. - Two orders of French Fries (small), $2.95: they were softer and less salty than we were expecting/hoping for. The side sauces we got (which come in containers that hold maybe two tablespoons) were ketchup and sriracha aioli. They were good, just wish there was more. - Two waters, $3 ^ after tax and tip, this was close to $60. The interior can seat maybe eight people; except when we visited there was only four seats available because the third table and the high top seating at the windows had several mop buckets on them collecting water dripping from the ceiling. It cured my craving for a juicy burger without the guilt of supporting the murder of cows & separating moms from their calves. Even more impressive was their awareness of materials used for their containers. I'm hoping they will find alternatives to the little bit of plastic they are using now. The shroom boom side was very good, not too heavily breaded, seasoned nicely, a nice texture of crisp outside with softer mushroom inside and came with a tasty green goddess sauce. Wow this place might be my next obsession. I've come to really enjoy the Vegan/Vegetarian options. So many people in the city have told me great things about this place. I was also impressed by everything we ate, and the milkshake (which has no dairy and consist of mainly soy beans) was probably one of the best milkshake I've had. I always have mixed feelings about this place, which is a sister spot of another great place, called Bar Bombon. Sometimes HipCity Veg is great and sometimes it it is terrible. This review is specifically about Rittenhouse location; it cannot seem to get it right. From staff, delayed orders, and sanitation issues, to now raised prices and diminishing portions. This salad is a limited ingredient salad, which most of them are here. Literally four ingredients in it. Look at the size! It costs 12 dollars but looks like a side salad! This bowl almost fits in the palm of my hand! If you go to any competitor in the neighborhood, such as Cava, Just Salad, Devon & Blakely, Sweet Greens, you will get almost twice bigger portion for your 12 dollars with more ingredients! I think from now on I will opt out for only getting sandwiches at this place; unless they shrink in size too. 12 dollars for this portion of lettuce is just ridiculous! read more

This counter-service vegan/plant-based restaurant in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia is a great stop for a quick lunch and bite to eat. I stopped twice on the same day, once just to try their chicken nuggets (with buffalo sauce) and again for the cheese steak. The nuggets were OK, nothing spectacular, but edible and flavorful with the buffalo sauce. The cheese steak was delicious. It was flavorful, cheesy, and a bit messy which made it excellent in my opinion. It was a good interpretation of a Philly Cheese Steak. It's more on the meal size than the snack size though, so it can fill you up. The staff was super friendly and had everything out to me quickly each time. They even have books for sale so look around at the walls for things you may want to look at. It's small so looking around may just be turning your head a bit. I wish they had Coke or Pepsi though. Just because I'm not eating meat doesn't mean I don't want a delicious cola to wash down my sandwich and nuggets! Hip City Veg- Rittenhouse Square! This is a must visit hip vegan cheesesteak restaurant. I can not visit Philly without having a plant based cheesesteak. I ordered my sandwich well done. The sautéed onions, mushrooms, The server suggested I try the turmeric tangerine drink. I must say everything was phenomenal. The only thing I wish they had was French fries. I don't like sweet potato fries, and I didn't know where to go to get fries. But that was fine because my amazing sandwich was everything. My only regret was that I didn't buy two sandwiches. I live in the NYC metro area, and couldn't just go back the next day. If I lived nearby, this would be my weekly go to place. I want to thank the staff, and manager for an excellent experience. I got a mocha latte shake ($5) and loved it. The breakfast maple crispy chik'n sandwich ($6.49) was decent, though the maple syrup added nothing and made the sandwich worse. The sunnyside sausage, egg and cheese ($6) was a near-perfect replica of a McDonald's breakfast sandwich. While I enjoyed it, the thing wasn't exactly bursting with flavor. I am also getting tired of the endless repetition of Just Egg and Beyond/Impossible, which seems to be the only vegan combo allowed these days. All that, for $6 I can't complain. Their milkshakes bring everyone to the yard. I love this place for when I crave vegan comfort food. My favorite is the buffalo chickn sandwich but in a wrap and next the Philly cheeze steak*. I did try their salad and I wasn't the biggest fan of the prepackaged salad. Their fresh juice is good as well. It is a quaint restaurant but certainly worth the drive.
