First, let me say this place was amazingly clean, and even had refreshments in waiting area. The young lady at the counter was friendly and professional. You hand them your ID and health insurance card... and the rest is done on your phone.. so easy!!! I don't feel the wait was very long, especially for a weekend at an urgent care. I was seen rather quickly and my entire visit, including X-rays, results, medications and paperwork was just over an hour. I think I take longer at my regular doctor sometimes!!! Everyone was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The doctor explained everything to me, they gave me some shots to get thru the day... and I think this was an amazing experience! Unfortunately, 2 days after visiting, my experience left me frustrated and scratching my head. My main complaint is I was prescribed fluoroquinolone antibiotics (Cipro) for a sting ray sting, without any mention about the well documented risks associated with lasting tendon rupture and collagen matrix disruption. It was only once I'd done my research that I had to call to see if we can switch. One of the PA's (Paula, also exceptional) took my call and even said she was glad that I caught that and did not understand why I was prescribed Cipro when there are much safer alternatives out there. When I had gone in, I was also given a steroid shot to help with inflammation and left in the room for some time. I started to get quite nauseous and felt close to fainting. I had to step outside and call for someone, just to be told "yeah this happens often, forgot to warn you" and "you beat me to checking in on you." What's worse is I came to find out combining fluoroquinolones with corticosteroids (steroid shots) have been documented to a FOURTEEN (14!) FOLD increased risk of tendinopathy and tendon rupture (D. Baggio, M.R. Andana-Rajah, 2021). Why on earth would you combine a fluoroquinolone and corticosteroids? If there are safer antibiotics, why fluoroquinolone alone? The whole experience just feels medically untrained or professionally careless. I'm completely bewildered, and quite frustrated.

(By the way, I have worked in the healthcare industry for the past 24 years). Well I just went in on a Sunday morning and for a minor issue and filled out all of their information online (I've been to this location before with no issues) and everything was fine until the receptionist asked me for my credit card information to "keep on file". Listen: I have full health insurance and I'm NOT leaving a credit card on file with all the healthcare fraud! She claimed it was because it's on a "Sunday and their system doesn't work on Sunday". What about people in the community that don't have credit cards, but have health insurance? I told them I'm happy to pay my out of pocket as normal but they said they must have a credit card and handed me a slip of paper with their policy. I left without service. I will definitely be placing a formal complaint. And yes, I have many credit cards but I'll be damned if I leave one "on file" when I have medical insurance. By the way - I went to ContinuEM Urgent care on Palo Verde and South and got excellent service! No credit card needed and the doctor was super professional and thorough. So, what happens when an 84-year-old goes to this practice and is notified that her lab reports, which have abnormalities, do? According to Ruby (we don't know if this is her real name) - it is the patient's job to review the results, note the abnormalities, and then schedule an appointment with the doctor. That is the office protocol. OK!!! So, when is the first available appointment for an 84-year-old who has an infection and abnormal reports? Five weeks after the test results came back. "May I speak to the Practice Administrator? " - I request. "Please wait!" 14 minutes later. "She is busy with another patient!" says Ruby. "I will wait" After 44 minutes of waiting, the phone goes quiet. No call back. Could it be possible that the ladies are busy making videos for Instagram? Apparently, there are tons of videos with the doctor and ladies on social media selling cosmetic procedures online. An 84-year-old's life is more precious than making dancing videos. Next stop - medical board of California and the insurance company. Sorry, Dr. Dhamija. 30 years of patronage hold little value at your clinics in Long Beach and at Walk In Medical Clinic in Artesia. I've been seeing Dr. Archna Chaudhary for a while now and honestly have had a really great experience. I've been to each of the multiple locations, and all of them are clean and easy to get in and out of. The newer office by the Long Beach Traffic Circle is especially nice. Wait times are very reasonable, I'm typically seen within 5-10 minutes... and to be fair, half the time that's because I'm walking in right at the last minute. As for Dr. Chaudhary, she's been great. She actually listens, takes her time, and explains things in a way that makes sense. She has a good balance of being gentle but also straightforward, which I personally like. I've never felt rushed, and she's open to talking through different options instead of just immediately prescribing something. I've also seen a few of the nurse practitioners and they've all been pleasant. If you're on the fence because of reviews, I'd just say go see for yourself and form your own opinion. After a week of this, I finally opted to just sit on hold. Turns out they never have a massive queue, the wait is never more than a few minutes. But the staff is an absolute nightmare. Today I spoke with "Hamza" and he talked really quietly unless he was talking over me (which he did the whole time) and refused to make any changes after I explained I have an Auditory Processing Disorder. He then put me on hold to speak to a colleague, left me on hold for nearly 10 minutes then returned to say I needed to send an email. I don't have an email address for them and when I asked why he couldn't schedule me if he's a scheduling operator is because his colleague said they needed my referral first. I told him I have a PPO and don't need one but I can provide contact for the 3 doctors that made the reco I speak to a neurologist if they need. He said his colleague thought I had an HMO - I asked why he would think that and he didn't answer just said he would schedule me. I asked with who and he gave a name I didn't recognize. I asked him to stop, please because it was clear there'd been some miscommunication. He hadn't even taken my insurance so he'd be scheduling blind AND I was calling to get the availability for a specific neurologist at their location. When he again interrupted and reverted to speaking at an inconsistent pace/volume I stated this clearly wasn't working and asked if he could transfer me to someone else. He said yes, put me back on hold, and then rerouted me to the main menu instead. With no other option I re-entered the queue for scheduling operators only to wait my turn and be hung up on. I have since called back at least 5 times, and tried an alternate number for the office I found online. Every time, I wait in the queue, and then when my turn comes, I'm hung up on. I'm sure Hamza thinks he's hilarious but I will be reporting the behavior to my insurance company, and the ADA at bare minimum. I guarantee this behavior is not limited to his phone interactions and if this is how he treats someone with an APD, I cannot imagine how he treats stroke survivors and those with significant cognitive impairment.
