Subsequent assessment determined a full roof replacement was needed. This salesperson was great - initially - even made a long distance call for the current residents in the home there so that they could notify family of their situation. Really kind thing to do - right?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That is about where our respect for the company ended. CMR's bid was high and our insurance disagreed on the price. CMR told us they always come in with a much higher bid knowing it would have to be whittled down before the insurance would agree. We had to use a lawyer to get the payment price agreed upon. This whole process may be a big scam - high bid, force the homeowner to get a lawyer... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Subsequent communication was virtually nonexistent. no information was available as to when the project might begin. Lots of excuses when we could get replies. (Oh, of course they communicated when they wanted payment!)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, the roof was finally completed two years after the hurricane. For more than six months, there was just the sealing underlayer, which actually did leak, but was repaired quickly. CMR replaced our roof in early 2022 and all I can say is WOW! Unlike most in Florida we have a shingle roof so when Hurricane Ian was heading directly towards us I was worried because I know shingles do not stand up to wind the way metal and tile do. Well, nothing to be concerned about because even though the edge of the eye sat over our house for 6 hours and picked up our boat off the lift and put it in the yard we did not have 1 shingle out of place. They took an insurance deposit, could not present a reasonable price to the insurance company (CMR wanted $165,000 for a $50,000 tile roof job). Now CMR is suing us because the insurance company paid us out based on the prices the new roofing company charged us. CMR has been awful. My parents who are in their 80's had their roof replaced. The entire time they worked on the roof they had many complaints, they fixed some but Levi and Olivia kept saying wait until the end and give us your list and we will fix them all. I am writing this post as a cautionary story about hiring CMR Construction for roof replacement. We signed a contract in October 2022 in the wake of hurricane IAN. We finally ended up using D.R. Martineau in February of 2024. We live in a duplex home and the CMR rep attempted to get our villa mate to contract for the job along with us. They were not successful. We reached out to Martineau when we received a notice of non-renewal from our insurance company for not completing roof repairs over a year after their payout. Martineau was able to get agreement from our villa mate and completed the job within 3 weeks after our agreement. I was able to have our insurance reinstated and all ended well. The nicest thing I can say about CMR is that they were unresponsive and did not adequately notify me of the status of the negotiations with my villa mate, citing customer confidentiality issues. At one point they claimed delays in obtaining materials. It was nearly impossible to reach their customer service group. We had no fewer than 3 different reps assigned to our account over the year and three months our roofing project was "active". Calls to them almost always resulted in ringing through to their voicemail accounts only to hear "the mailbox is full" messages. My numerous calls to their corporate number (in Texas) resulted in pointless conversations with a representative who took details of my issues and promised to "have someone get back to me"...which never happened. I have since found out that CMR franchises its business to third party concerns who employ contract customer service contractors. As an aside: I called the CMR phone number returned by Google for a local CMR business and received a "that number has been disconnected" message. Are you getting my frustration with CMR yet? I finally received an argumentative and condescending call from the local business owner to discuss their offer of 25% of the money that I paid them for no services received along with an agreement to not comment on the transaction in social media, YELP,Google or NextDoor. I rejected the offer and insisted on a 40% return which I viewed as a good compromise but the owner dug his heels in. So here we are. I learned an expensive lesson but life goes on. CMR recently completed my roof and to be fair the quality of work seems to be good. This project took 2 years. Once they got our initial payment, CMR failed to return my calls about the status of my job. They initially assigned someone who was supposed to communicate the progress on my job but he stopped calling or sending e-mails. The only time we heard from them was when invoices showed up in my e-mail. Finally, a team showed up but could not work because there was no dumpster ordered. Another 2 weeks went by and a dumpster showed up at 10:00 pm one night. The dumpster remained in my driveway another week before another team showed up to do the work. Thank God our County inspectors told us the roof was not complete as they simply did not add the vents as required. Three months later someone showed up unexpectedly to tear part of the roof out to put in the vents. If I could give a NEGATIVE score I certainly would. This company is a total scam. I am a senior. One of their snake oil sales people came to my door making promises to get my roof fixed after Irma. They promised to help with the insurance claim. I did not realize that they were fraudulently charging the insurance $116,000 for my roof that should not cost more than $25,000. The claim was turned down and rightly so. My roof is leaking and has not been fixed after many years. I have to get an attorney to sue them. Stay away from this disreputable company.
