They have a super cute little farm stand selling produce, jams, syrups, and a few knickknacks. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Cosentino's also offers classes and events among the fruit trees and flower gardens. I went for a beginner's watercolor class on a warm spring afternoon. Shaded by fruit trees, about 20 of us sat at a long table decorated with fresh-cut ranunculus flowers and learned to paint tulips (very badly in my case!) from a local artist. It was a really sweet way to spend a couple of hours and remember back when orchards were the life blood of the Santa Clara Valley. The farm features heirloom fruit varieties and picks them ripe, so I'll definitely go back in the summer for stone fruits and berries. If you live in the Almaden or Branham area, it's such a cool little hidden gem and definitely worth stopping by. The fruit looked super fresh, though the prices are higher than I expected, more like Whole Foods level prices. I thought going straight to the source would mean much lower prices, but what you lose in price, you definitely gain in freshness. For example, their strawberries were $5 per little green basket (three for $15), which comes out to about $5 a pound. At Costco, organic strawberries are $5.49 for 2 pounds, roughly $2.75 per pound. The giant seeded watermelons were $12.49 here, compared to $6.49 at Walmart. (Suggestions from a visitor) A couple of friendly suggestions that I think would be really helpful: It would be great if they posted online what fruit is in season and what will be at the stand, along with the prices. That way people can plan ahead and know when to make the drive when their favorite fruits are available. Also, there are no signs letting customers know they can go in the back. I only knew because I saw pictures on Yelp. Locals who've been here before probably already know, but as a first-timer, it looked like an employee-only area so I didn't go back there. A simple sign would be awesome, it would bring more people to the back to sit, eat, and enjoy the space since most fruit stands don't have that nice extra feature. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

Prices were not as inexpensive as I had expected, but they were still definitely better than the mass supermarkets. They had a good selection of ethnic mate as well as regular meat. They also had a lot of other stuff in the market that he might not find elsewhere. Parking is pretty good and it is close to West San Jose, which means no long drives out of the area. I would recommend this place and will be coming back more often in the warm weather when we are barbecuing.

Volunteered through my company at Veggielution!…read more The farm box packing event started right on time at 9:30am. I appreciated how Veggielution has posted videos showing how and where to enter the property. Staff explained the instructions thoroughly and handed out gloves. It was a hot day so I was thankful that the event was under a shed and the food packing itself was straightforward and not very strenuous. We filled the boxes with fruits and vegetables assembly line style and then stacked them all up. With our big group, we finished packing 725 produce boxes in about 90 minutes. Some of us also helped remove weeds around the shed using hands + shovels. At the end, one of the employees gave us a guided tour of the farm which was super fun! He talked about the different events they host - on Saturdays there is a Farmer's Market and youth garden for little kids. The farm is huge, so it was cool to look around and learn about their farming practices. Also learned that they offer low-cost fruits and vegetables to the community! Staff was very friendly and efficient! They provided us with all the necessary tools. There were some leftover fruits and vegetables, and volunteers were allowed to take them home which was super nice! Overall, I would definitely volunteer at Veggielution again. Their website is up to date with helpful information which makes the whole volunteer process very easy to navigate. They also host interesting community events that I would recommend checking out!

This is a smaller scale middle eastern store that offers produce, spices, bread and international food items. I really love their Persian cucumbers and Italian Parsley. Their prices on their produce are very reasonable. They also carry Armenian Bastirma and Soujouk, which are hard to find. They have a decent selection of spices and have an excellent selection of different brands of Labne. I needed some Aleppo pepper, which they had and also purchased some fresh Persian cucumbers. They do sell many different ethnic breads but they are not always fresh. If you see them taking bread out of boxes and stocking the shelves, that is when you know the bread is fresh. Customer service is not always consistent. But the staff are friendly.
