This place has a few competitors on the same corridor but I have found the treats from here to have the most freshness. During my most recent visit, I picked up a half a pound of spicy dried squid for about $14. They have different options in the same family and are willing to give you samples to help you determine which one best meets your taste buds. There are dried fruits, plums, raisins, and other items that are dehydrated and then seasoned with salt or sugar. I purchased some beef jerky from here. They have so many different options it's amazing! They also allow you to try samples of whatever your heart desire. Keep in mind the polite thing to do is actually buy something if you're going to go on a happy tasting spree! I get all happy here...it's great! What I appreciate most about this shop are the employees who actually listen to my directions on the weight. I bought 7lbs of beef jerky requesting they weigh it by 1kb bags separately. They really did put in the amount requested unlike other shops that will overstuff the bag and claim they can't tell. Doh! Yes you can otherwise you're not doing your job right. Very bad service!!! I shopped at this store regularly for almost 20 years, but they have had very bad service lately. This is the third time they ignored me! I ordered 1 item and wanted to buy something else, but they ignored me and served other customers until there were no more customers, and then they returned to me. This is what I deserve for trying to cheat on my favorite beef jerky shop! They had a sign said 30% off, that lured me into the shop, as Eurasia was little packed and I was in a hurry. When I asked about the beef jerky discount, the lady said 20%. I was thinking still might be ok... At cash register, I noticed the price didn't had the discount on it. THEN she told me the price she told me was with 20% off. This was $1 more expensive per lb than Eurasia. The beef jerky turns out to be tough and too chewy..... We came here this past Sunday while exploring the mall a little during Tet. We were blown away by the imense selection of goodies from traditional Vietnamese cookies to pastries & candies. We brought home some sesame cookies & peanut cakes; the cookies are wonderful with a nutty taste with the sesame seeds & the peanut cakes remind me of peanut briddle; so peanuty & crispy. I will definitely come back next Sunday to pick up some different items. The service is friendly & efficient. I was at the food court and wanted to buy some Vietnamese desserts for my mom. I told my husband that I wanted to get banh da lon. While walking to the end of the food court, my husband noticed that this place sells it. I grabbed 4 containers of the banh da lon and 1 container of vanilla cupcake (for my daughter). I paid around $16 for everything. Customer service was good. When I picked up 2 banh da lon, a girl came over and helped me take them to the cashier. When I was ready to pay, the cashier rang me up and gave me a bag. These days, everyone is charging for a bag. It's rare to see that they're giving me for free, without me asking for one. read more

He kept looking through them because he suspected right away it's old and he also got ginger which we later found out the banana snack was expired and it was a weird purple color with grey speckles on it. They do have a great idea of putting the jerky inside the salad and now I do it for taste. They do let you sample all the food you want too, but make sure you buy something. There is a lot of variety here o mai-wise. They have a lot of the different dried fruits that I look for, but not as much dried meat/sea delights. They give you a free sample if you ask, so feel free to branch out and try new things. Here are my favorites: - Longans - Strawberries - Kumquats - Guavas (the wet not dry ones) - Mangos - Lemon rinds (great for a sore throat) - Pineapple This dried exotic fruit does get expensive, but you can tell the person helping you exactly how much you want to spend (You want $3's worth of dried guava or mango) by dollar amount or by weight. There is quite a few different kinds of dried beef jerky and deer jerky. There are a couple other kinds that also vary in levels of spicy-ness. We usually get the curry beef jerky and the deer jerky. Delicious. However, like I said, other places have the tiny dried crabs, fish, squid, and other things, and those are not available here -- at least the last time I was there, which was a few months ago. Not too much of a big deal, but it would be nice to have those here too. You go in just to look at some weird raisins, and you leave with 50 dollars' worth of random snacks. Haha, be careful! It's so weird how Asian malls always put the exact same stores, right next to each other. O-Mai and Euro something or other sell almost identical things. Beef jerkey, cuttlefish, etc. I was on a 1 hour lunch break and the Euro something on the corner was packed, so we went to O-Mai since there was barely anybody in there. Seriously, they had 3 ladies working and 3 customers in the store and it took FOREVER. The ladies were all really rude except for the short haired lady. I won't be coming back here. If you're competing with someone that sells the exact same product as you next door, for $1/more per pound, at LEAST be a little nice. I usually browse this Asian Mall on my down time just to scope out the snacks and new food places that circulate the food court. I try not to spend too long in one shop because you know how Asian people have the tendency to swoop on you and pressure you into buying things. However this O-Mai snack shop is so welcoming they treat you like family! Even if you are just passing by the sweet sales associates would be like oh do you want to try this or they will let you know whats new to the shop! Overall I enjoy the cheap yogurt ice creams and the Beef Jerky selection. You can literally sample ALL of them before deciding what to buy! read more

Came here for Lunar New Years goodies and will likely be making an annual trip. They have the entire spread of what you normally can only get during new years BUT didn't see any lotus seeds so got that next door. Bought banh chung ($13 each) and candied coconut strips ($10/lb). The prices seem comparable to that in OC. The banh chung is freshly made as the rice wasn't hard and I'm glad it wasn't overly salted because I like to dip it in soy sauce. But they are a bit skimpy on the meat/mung bean filling and most of it is just sticky rice (which is why it's sooooo heavy!). I think I'll try the one from next door next year. I got a lb of pandan, strawberry, and durian flavored coconut strips and they flavors are deep so they don't all simply taste like coconut. I also like that it isn't overly sweet either. They prepackage all the flavors but you get mostly regular coconut (white) so I'd suggest ordering what you want and have them scoop it out for you if you want to select particular flavors. This place is great! Located in the Grand Century mall. My parents come here for the dried fruits, jerky, etc. I love it because they sell very hard to find French imported goods, such as Bretel butter (soooooooooo delicious!), Rougie and other genuine foie gras pate items, and they recently started selling truffle butters and oils. Their prices are pretty reasonable for the type of gourmet imports they sell, only $10 for a jar of white truffle butter. I tasted it, it's the real deal! I'm used to shelling out $20-$50 for something comparable. Minus one star for the occasional expired item they still keep on the shelves. read more

This is a good place to get a variety of o mai candies. Occasionally they sell banh chung and banh tet also. I was there on a business trip visiting this store and what I like about this store is that the young lady who was selling the candies is courteous and didn't mind me sampling the variety of sweets there by myself. I could have just taken whatever I wanted to try but I did not think that this is a good thing to do therefore I proceeded to ask her to give me the various samples that I wanted to try and so she did. To me that is good service. I bought a few variety of o mai there (o mai chanh, o mai cam, etc... ) and they all tasted very good. I told the lady that this is going to be a gift and she proceeded seal the bags for me. That is another plus for this store. I'm out of town and bought $100 of snack for the road. Boy was it a mistake going to this place instead of my usual visit to Vua Kho Bo. The spicy octopus and squid tasted terrible, tasted like to didn't put any thought into the flavoring. The olives are lowest grade they could find to pickle and the spicy olive tasted as bad. Stay away from the dry baby crab, it's all shell and tasted with msg coated. Gave me headache after eating a few. Don't let the mouth water pictures on their website deceive you. They are the worst! Not only is the customer interaction and service terrible but the quality of the foods are nothing if not subpar. If you stand outside and observe, this place just does NOT get any foot traffic meaning they have no need to order fresh product. The jerky is stale and all the banh is dried up worse than the shriveled prunes they're trying to get you to buy. The ladies barely acknowledge you and when they finally do, it's very rude. Here's the thing, I don't mind a little briskness when it comes to Asian businesses, mannerisms and tone, it's just a part of Asian culture. Take it from me, I don't use the word "rude" lightly, but even by Asian standards, they're rude af. A lot of the time, they'll just lurk, hover and watch you, as if they're suspecting you of something. And don't even think about asking for samples if you don't end up purchasing anything. my friend and i were eating at the food court and decided to scroll around the plaza for more food. nothing really caught my eye from the front door of o-mai, but i went in anyway cuz i can never resist a snack shop. looked into their popsicle freezer display and saw a bunch of frozen baggies of flavored liquid. got kinda excited cuz i had never seen anything like that before. then to the right of those were these homemade popsicles. asked the lady what they were and she said frozen bananas with coconut shreds and crushed peanuts and milk. i was sold. i freeze bananas at home and eat them like ice cream all the time, this sounds like a beefed up version. and boy was i not disappointed. only $1.25, it was goooood, like finger-lickin sticky good. read more

I really love this place a lot but I just got to deduct some stars for my last visit here . Usually when I come in the ladies there are always so nice and welcoming but not last time. I dont know if she was the owner or the lady boss there but she sure does act like one and I sure dont appreciate the i'm-the-boss-and-i-dont-need-your-business-so-what-do-you-want vibe she was shooting at me left and right. She asked me what I wanted and I said I'm looking for a particular item so give me a few minutes and I'll ask for help when I'm ready. Without giving me any response she just went to the back. She didnt submerge until about 5-10 mins later and I should have left but this is the place I usually go to so I waited around until she helped me .
