Truly a gem! Love this place so much! A good dinner date spot! Everything on the menu is delicious. You truly can't go wrong. Every time I stop by, I make sure to try something new. Please get the shrimp scampi dip!! It's my favorite. We've also gotten the sesame chicken skewers, bison meatloaf, and the creole etoufee. I also love getting their vanilla creme brulee for dessert. Take advantage of their brunch and Friday lunch menus! I'm obsessed with the crab soup and the pimento mac salad side. We recently tried the falafel and og philly sandwiches which were delicious. The service is always top tier! Annie is the best server!! There's a small parking lot but it can get busy. There's plenty of street parking.

Brunch was amazing!!! 9 of us. Everybody found something they loved. 13 year old had scrambled eggs and home fries. 16 year old had croissant French toast. 15 yo had chili. Grown ups enjoyed variety of meals!!! I had blue corn pancakes, thick awesome bacon, eggs reasonable prices. Bloody Mary's and Painkiller drinks were big hits. Service perfect. Ambience was perfect. Spacious and lively. This is a must go to brunch place!! I've also done dinner and HH. Never been disappointed.

    Crab cake special. Soo good

Stopped by for dinner while in Norfolk. We were disappointed to not see crab cakes on the menu when many reviews had mentioned it. However it was the daily special so we were not disappointed. The order was prepared fast and the waitress was friendly. There's a discount for paying in cash. Crab cakes were delicious, nice and crunchy on the outside and tasty. We also enjoyed the broccolini as well. All around great!

We tried the duck BBQ, the creole étouffée, and the pumpkin cheesecake. You can definitely taste the duck in the duck BBQ sandwich so if you don't like duck this isn't for you. I don't mind it - the sandwich was good. I got fries as my side and I just absolutely love their fries! The creole étouffée was pretty good! We felt like the shrimp tasted previously frozen which was kinda a bummer but the flavor of the meal was very good. The rest of the meat/seafood was cooked well in the dish- just wish that the shrimp were fresher. The pumpkin cheesecake was a good fall dessert.

Visited on Sunday at noon-30 and it was plenty space. Love the aesthetic and lighting, gave an intimate but friendly feel. Our waitress was kind and gave great energy and recommendations of their too dishes. Ordered two espresso martinis and they were delicious. For brunch had the croissant French toast which came with eggs, potatoes and sausage. May I say it was some of the best breakfast I've had. My bestie had the Philly breakfast sandwich which was huge and filling. She couldn't eat it all. Bathrooms were clean and that's always a sanity check of mine! Will definitely visit this spot again!

I really enjoyed my meal here with friends. it was easy to make a reservation and it has a relaxed and slightly upscale vibe. it's also walkable to an icecream shop for dessert. will definitely be returning.

For my friend's birthday dinner, we decided on Coach House Bar & Grill since it was a restaurant she's been wanting to try for a while. Once we arrived, we noticed that the parking lot was fairly small but thankfully we were able to find parking on the street on the next block up. We arrived around 7:30p on a Saturday and were able to be seated right away. The host was very friendly and directed us to a high top table in the bar area. Unfortunately, those tables weren't the most comfortable so they happily escorted us to a nearby booth. Our server, Marie, was wonderful and helped us choose some really good drinks. For starters, we decided on the Warm Gulf Shrimp Scampi Dip which was very delicious. The only downside was the size, it was more of a single serving than a shareable item. As we looked over the menu to decide what to eat for dinner, it took us quite a while. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out as appealing but my friend decided on the Sesame Chicken Skewers (a "safe choice" in her words lol) while I chose the Puppy Drum which was pan fried puppy drum fish that was served with cheese grits & grilled asparagus on a crawfish creole cream sauce. The food came out pretty quickly and my friend enjoyed her skewers but opted not to eat the noodles. My meal was flavorless with the exception of the cream sauce. Once I was able to add salt, pepper and hot sauce, it gave it some flavor. The grits were alright but I would have preferred mashed potatoes but the fish was fried very well and that cream sauce was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a fun experience trying a new restaurant. My friend was able to choose a complimentary dessert for her birthday so she decided on the Pineapple Upside Down Bread Pudding. It was a tad bit sweet but tasted pretty good. Our server was amazing and I enjoyed the relaxed ambiance but I'm sure it will be a while before I return.

This place is awesome. Inventive menu with many different appetizers almost making it hard to decide. They rotate in food specials quite a bit and the service is very knowledgeable to that specific nights offerings. Nice space for a family dinner or a night out in a dimmer dining room setting. Overall, fantastic neighborhood restaurant

We came here for a special occasion, and it was a great place to celebrate. Inside the restaurant, there isn't that much space, so I recommend making a reservation. There is outdoor seating here too. I recommend the creole etouffee over the bison meatloaf because the scallops were perfectly cooked but the bison was super dry and the sauce was very salty , but the bison meatloaf had good veggies if you're feeling the fall/harvest food. They have a separate dessert menu, which I highly recommend looking at after the main course. The only down side is the street parking. Any restaurants on colley avenue requires street parking, but I recommend getting the first spot you see and then walk.

This is oyster and grits for Sunday brunch!

I love a place that knows its menu. I really dislike going somewhere and the waiter or waitress has no idea what they offer or what they would recommend. Our waiter really helped me make my decision, very creamy dish with grits was my favorite. My husband had their burrito. Overall service was incredible which goes a long way for me, now a days it's so hard to get good service. Food was good! We'd go again for sure!

Cute little restaurant in Norfolk. We decided to come have dinner here before catching a concert at ODU. We started out with drinks, charcuterie board and some apps and then we all ordered dinner. Everything we had was really good the charcuterie board was big and plenty to share, loved all the meats and cheeses. The shrimp scampi dip was delish too. We also got the meatloaf which was good and we decided to get desert too. The espresso creme brûlée was amazing as well as the bread pudding. The server was awesome and very attentive and gave us some recommendations and opinions which was great in helping me narrow down what to order. The restaurant itself is small and quaint. I can see it getting busy here during the weekend dinner rush hour. Great spot to check out!!

My friend from out of town passed through last weekend, so we met up for dinner at Coach House Bar and Grill (CHBG) upon her request. She had visited CHBG on a previous trip here and loved it. She had her heart set on some of the menu items that she had tried previously, so that is exactly what we did! - Parking - It's a tiny lot, but bonus points for even having a private lot, especially on that street! We were lucky to each score a spot because we opted to meet up at 4:30 pm right when they opened so we had no problems. - Vibe - I love the natural and earthy tones, but at 4:30 pm, it was very dark inside, so we opted to eat outside in their covered patio. Super pleasant at that time of day and as the sun was going down soon. - Noms - Edamame hummus - a nice change from the chickpea hummus. More chunky than chick pea. It's served on a large edible wonton wrapper bowl with a variety of vegetable sticks like carrot, cukes, celery and mini sweet peppers. I liked eating the dip with broken off chunks of the bowl the best. Warm Gulf shrimp scampi dip - creamy and cheesy. Served with pita like cracker strips. I would have liked more shrimps, but still good to the last dip! Scallops - this was a confusing dish for me. The different components individually were very tasty, but the combining as one was I don't know, I guess, just confusing for lack of a better word. The scallops were cooked well. I loved the blue hush puppies. They were lighter and fluffier than the hush puppies I am used to and I loved the blueberry addition to them. The corn was good on its own. Sesame chicken skewers - this dish is what the soba noodles come with. We ordered extra noodles for my friend since she was craving these noodles specifically LOL. Not sure if it was the prior overhyping from my friend, but I thought it was just ok for me. The noodles seemed to have been overcooked, but still good. Chicken was great, just wish there was more of them haha. Sharing all 4 dishes was perfect for our insatiable palettes. I love family style way of eating, so we can get to try a little of a lot of items. We could have probably done with one less plate, but #YOLO. Overall, a great eatery in that section of Norfolk! If you want to treat yourself (and your company) a frozen treat, Lolly's opened up their third location just next door or if you want to continue on the convo with your company, Elation Brewing is right across the street! Oh, last but not least, our server was just such a sweetie. You can tell everyone who works there are just nice people and very attentive. The hostess was the same way. We felt very welcomed and well take care of. Stay safe, Friends!

My wife and I got an early reservation for Valentine's Day. We are not sorry about that. Amanda was our service and she was awesome. We ordered a small plate of fried cheese with hot ho why carrots and crustini. Oh man I could've made a meal on that. Delicious. We ordered the shrimp and it was very tasty so good Lastly we ordered a medium rare beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and kale with an incredibly tasty dressing. We also had two adult beverages. An old fashioned and a loosy goosy. Can I say we nearly licked the plates, the atmosphere was great and the service was great and the food was great. This may be our new place to go. It was awesome.

The sandwich is just as the store name suggests basic, if you like a classic simple sandwich then this is your spot. I would have like to have seen a slightly higher quality meat for a sandwich shop. The meat on the sandwiches seems like regular prepackaged deli meat, given the price point there's nothing wrong with that. Most if not all of the sandwiches start at 8$ so everything is decently priced. If you want a sandwich but you don't want a jimmy John's or subway sub this is a nice alternative for a little midday lunch. It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
