Always an unpleasant experience from start to finish. To begin, their website simply does not function. I had to enter my information 6 times and get an error message 6 times before I figured out how to book tickets online by using an incognito window in Chrome. The schedule seems to be more of a vague suggestion than an actual timetable. Going to Chicago from the South Bend Airport on the first bus of the day, it was almost half an hour late. When it did arrive, is apparently hadn't been to Notre Dame yet, so that's where we went next. I don't think we stopped in Michigan City at all. I made it to O'Hare, but not without much concern about missing my flight. On my return trip, the bus listed on line as the 4:50. (But actually comes to the bus center at 5:15... ) finally arrived at 6, only get around to leaving about 6:15 after the driver spent some time yelling about buying tickets in the terminal instead of on the bus. read more

I did a roundtrip from Midway to Notre Dame. The first bus got there on time and brought us to a station where we were to transfer. The woman working at the counter was very nice and let us know that the bus was stuck in traffic but it was en route. It was about an hour late but at least it got us and got me to Notre Dame. That being said, after reading these reviews and my own experience, I found myself departing Notre Dame very early on my date because I could not risk missing my plane. 1. That being said, I'd be very reluctant to go this route again given the drawback. It takes so.very long. The drive is about an hour and a half. The bus took four hours, and that was after waiting at the airport for two hours for a bus. Next time I would rather rent a car and get myself there much quicker. 2. While waiting at the station I had the pleasure of listening to one of the drivers talk about how our country if founded on god and that people are not born gay, etc etc I'm sorry but when traveling I am 100% NOT INTERESTED in the politics of employees, particularly ignorant employees. 3. While there I witnessed a bus that left without passengers. They were queued up and waiting for a while but when the door didn't open, people took it that the bus wasn't ready and began to mill about. Before they knew it, the bus simply LEFT WITHOUT THEM! Hit or miss. My family and I have taken the Coach USA bus to the airports on multiple occasions with no major issues. However, seems like the quality has declined. I recommended my husband take it to the airport last week and the bus never came. He and others were waiting in South Bend with no indication as to where he bus was. He called and they said they cancelled a few busses and he would have to wait 2 hours for the next one. He tried renting a car but all were taken. He had to take AN UBER to O'Hare. Ridiculous that this wasn't more prominently communicated on their website in the area where the bus arrives. Most recently, I tried taking the 6:50 bus from O'Hare to South Bend. I got to the bus and told the conductor I was going to South Bend, but he said that his bus was running an hour late and I would have to wait for the next bus to go to South Bend. If your schedule online says the 6:50 goes to South Bend and you have a bus starting at OHare at 6:50, wouldn't it make sense to adjust the route and add South Bend to get the schedule back on track?? I was not the only passenger confused and upset by this change. I ended up going to Michigan City because I was afraid of busses being cancelled like my husband experienced or of being told at 7:50 that the 7:50 bus only goes to Michigan City. Tip: buy your ticket online on your phone and only after you are on the bus going to your destination. There is a stop where you can get off the bus to buy a ticket, but I find it easier to have it on my phone and not have to get up. read more

I arrived at The Highland Station and was told there was no replacement driver to take us the rest of the way to Michigan City. We would have to take the next bus coming an hour later. No refunds. Sitting in the Highland Indiana depot of Coach USA on my way home to South Bend on Sunday night. First, the 6:15 pm bus from Midway Airport got cancelled. So I took the 7:15 pm. Wasted an hour waiting at Midway thanks to their cancelling the earlier bus. Now after I got to Highland I am told that the next bus to South Bend won't be for another two hours. There was supposed to be a bus for South Bend leaving right away but apparently the driver of the bus quit and so now we all have to wait in this dumpy little depot until they can round up another driver. When I asked them to give me a refund they told me to call an 800 number tomorrow. DO NOT USE THIS BUS COMPANY! UNRELIABLE!! OVERPRICED!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I wish Megabus or Bolt Bus served this market. Much better bus companies. read more

*Update* I took this bus yet again because my mom was unable to take me due to an illness I. The family. She took me to the Portage stop and I had $30 cash for the $29 bus ride. He said he didn't have change so I could forfeit the $1 or get off the bus at the next stop and get a ticket. I didn't want to do that because you are leaving all your stuff on the bus unattended AND who knows if they'll leave without you!! So my mom gave me change so I had $28 + 4 quarters to make the $29 even for him. He then said "I can't take metal money, only dollars" so you'll just have to go inside and the next stop. My mom said forget it just give him the $30 and let him keep the other dollar. So I got on the bus- he said he'd collect in Crestwood. We get to Crestwood and they are collecting tickets so I go to hand him the $30 in PAPER MONEY like he said he could take and he goes "no I don't want to take cash, go inside and buy a ticket" so I had to leave my property on the bus, unattended, and get a ticket. Why could he take my $30 all paper money 2 stops before, but not now? It never gets any better with this company. I told my parents that if they can't pick me up, I just can't come home. It's terrible the way this company just doesn't care about customer service. Previous review: I will focus this review on the last 2 trips; starting with July 4. I knew it was a holiday so I planned my trip according to their bus schedule, then giving myself another 1.5 hours for traffic etc, putting me at the airport 4 hours before my scheduled flight. The bus picked up right on time. Awesome! I soon realized the bus driver had passed a city we were supposed to stop in- she made an announcement that she missed the exit (like 8 miles missed, not just missed) and that we had to turn around. We made it to the Portage stop, 40 minutes late. Then she made an announcement that the road was blocked due to a parade and she didn't know how to get to the passengers waiting. Several people on the bus told her it wasn't blocked as she circled a grocery store parking lot(we could all see traffic was flowing; that people had just started to assemble for the parade). Finally I called my mom to let her know what was going on(yeah I called my Mom, that's what they are for!!) So being MY mother she called the dispatch on her other line and they thought the bus was on time! The bus driver had lied to dispatch while i was listening. By now people were freaking out about missing their flights and we STILL hadn't gotten the passengers in portage. Finally she listened to us, and picked up the passengers. We arrived at the airport almost 2 hours late. The second experience was last month- I had arrived at Ohare and ran through the airport. 2 busses were waiting outside and I breathlessly asked which was Indiana, they pointed to one (they were back to back) and the driver said no, it's that one. I ran to the door(clear) the driver looked at me and drove off-- not joking. Lots of people saw - even the Wisconsin bus driver and was like - man- that's terrible. I found out this bus was late - from the hour before - so another one would be along and on time. Still terrible he saw me and left anyway. Sooo I get on my on time bus and was excited that it was leaving on time- so I called my family to let them know. Next think I know we pass the first stop-- I figure it's because we didn't have anyone on our bus that needed that stop- but no communication was made. We then stop at highland, right on time. The driver gets off the bus, we can see the other midway bus parked as well. 25 minutes later no one knows what's going on. I called my mom who was waiting at the portage stop to pick me up to let her know we were still at highland and I wasn't sure what was up. She then calls dispatch who LIES to her again- saying there was traffic. My mom let her know that we were sitting at the highland stop- that there wasn't traffic and wanted to know when the bus would be arriving. Dispatch said it's only 45 minutes late. Why I'm considering never riding again: 1) COMMUNICATION! Tell the passengers what is going on-- airports are already stressful -- keep the stress down by talking to the passengers 2) Be truthful. The pdf schedule shows their old pick-up location at midway Airport which is where we sat for 90 minutes. There's one sign showing the new location. No signs in the old location. After calling the dispatch we were informed that they hadn't had time to change the pdf in the 4 weeks since the change. They didn't care about our inconvenience and as always they're late both directions. This is the third time I have taken this bus in three months and it hasn't been on time yet in arriving at the South Bend airport. (Currently looking at a 45 minute late arrival.) I took it once back to Midway, but never again, as it was an hour late in arrival and I had less than 60 minutes to catch my flight. Drivers are not very friendly and the transfer wait at Highland can be anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Hence, why this bus never arrives on schedule. Note that these trips were during the late Spring and the Summer months. Obviously, this schedule cannot be depended upon in the winter with snow further delaying departures and arrivals. Left from Portage 2 weeks ago and there was one stop on Illinois to transfer people to Midway. Understandable. Make sure you plan accordingly to arrive early for your flight, which we did. Chicago traffic can be a bear. After a 6 hour plane ride from London to O'Hare, I am not amused on the return ride. Stops in Highland, where the bus drivers changed shifts and took an extra 10-15 minutes to do that. There are so many hassles involved in travelling, but it's nice to know getting to the airport is not one of them. For $50, you get a smooth ride to O'Hare with polite friendly drivers who almost always make their arrival times and a return trip as well. You can park up to 30 days in their parking lot. I've left my car there numerous times and haven't had so much as a ding in my car. The waiting area is clean and comfortable, if a bit old-fashioned, and they accept credit card as well. read more

What a nightmare trying to get back from O'Hare to South Bend, IN. on Coach USA operated by Airport Supersaver Inc. Bus was late by a half hour at O'Hare bus center. Made a long confusing intermediary stop then we stopped again at Highland Indiana and were told the driver was at the end of her duty hours. She told us we would likely have an hour wait for another bus and she unloaded our luggage and left. It took us 5 hours total to make the 100mi trip to South Bend. We arrived 2 1/4 hours after the scheduled time. Traffic was heavy around Chicago but we were never in stop and go conditions. All the employee Interactions were like dealing with the gang that couldn't shoot straight. Never again!! read more

There's a schedule posted on the Web but it's not followed. Bus drivers seem to feel free to take breaks whenever, so the bus is always running behind. Take note when catching a flight. Also, buses leave O'Hare nearly full....I wondered what would have happened if they're hadn't been room since it was the last one going to South Bend that evening. I have been using this bus service for decades, since the days when it was called the Tri-State bus service. Until recently, it was reliable and reasonably priced airport transportation. Like many of the reviewers have noted, it is really going downhill fast. Got to the Highland terminal yesterday (10/6/18) to find a handwritten note on the door that said the 10:25am bus was cancelled. The very rude woman at the desk offered no reason and said the next bus was at 11:25, too late for me. I ended up having to hire a car, at considerably greater expense. To the owners: if you're going to run an airport transport service, you need to be RELIABLE and HONEST. People aren't going to build in a few extra hours to their schedules to accommodate possible cancellations. Get your act together or your business will continue to decline. If you need to raise prices a little, fine. I would gladly pay a little more to ensure better service. It's sad because some of your drivers are really nice folks who have been with you for a long time. One final note - the women who work the counter at Highland are ALWAYS incredibly rude. Use this company only if your other option is to walk. It's like they took Greyhound's business model and asked "...how can we make it worse?" It's a company where "schedule" means a loose approximation of when a bus may, or may not, show up. It's a company where cancellations are frequent, usually unannounced and always unapologetic. It's a company that does not offer refunds, no matter what. I feel sorry for the drivers; they seem competent and friendly, trying to do a good job for a crappy company. They deserve better, as do us passengers. This past Sunday (September 30th) two busses in a row were canceled from the South Bend airport to O'Hare. I ended up renting a car and driving. Leaving from Michigan City to Midway and learn, when we get to our pick location at Marquette Mall, that our bus has been cancelled and we will have to wait an hour for the next one. We're told that it was posted that morning on their website. Even if I looked that morning I could have not found someone to drive me there at the last minute!! Fortunately some other poor soul was in the same predicament and they just decided to drive to Midway and offered us a lift. I was traveling to Atlanta on January 19th. On that date ownership changed to its current owner The bus was scheduled for 5:25am but never showed up. I called and was told they had just left Valparaiso just then. Knowing that would run another 45 minutes before they'd arrive, I knew I'd likely miss my flight. At 6:45 I called again as they still weren't there. Finally they arrived about 10 minutes later. The bus had no radio. The main office was closed and the phones didn't work to the main office. So she pulled over and called Highland to see if she needed to go into Gary. When we got to Highland she had the oHare people stay on as she was going to have to take them also. She did indeed end up taking them. Now at this point it confirmed that I'd never make my flight. I ended up having to reschedule my trip which was a major inconvenience. On the return trip I figured it would be fine by them. They were to pick us up and leave at 3:05pm, however, it didn't arrive until 3:45pn. So we sat outside in the dampness and cold until they could get around to us. I will never use CoachUSA again. I've requested a full refund. No response to my 3 emails! Done with them! read more

I am currently on the shuttle to Anaheim from the airport right now, and my family and I were treated like absolute garbage by the driver.  First, he ignored us to talk on his phone for TEN MINUTES as people attempted to speak with him and he had people in the bus and around him. Second, he refused to answer my questions about if we would be able to get on the bus or not. Third, after he finally deemed me worthy enough to be spoken to, he manhandled our luggage, literally body slamming them into the bus. Fourth, after he crammed all of that in, he literally yelled - YELLED - at me that he had no more room for our toddler's stroller and that I would have to have it on my lap for the 1.5hr ride. Unacceptable. After telling him five times that I would not do this (and enduring more of him yelling at me), he finally took it and put it in storage. THERE WAS ROOM THE WHOLE TIME. Fifth, while he sat around doing nothing for anyone, we were passed by the bus that was slated to arrive an hour after he did. It took him *over an hour* to load the bus. Unreliable service.. "operational issues sometimes result in no serivce.. so you sit in the airport waiting for a bus that will never come! In January I arrived in time for the last shuttle bus but there was a sign posted saying service was suspoended for that day and would resume on the normal schedule the next day. Since it was already 11:00 PM and the first bust the next day was at 4:30 AM, I hunkered down to wait ... but the next day the bus did arrive. I tried calling all their listed phone numbers with no answers... Finally about 6:00 AM I got an answer and they said they were not running that day either... So after wasting 7 hours waiting for a bus that was not going to come...even though they had a notice posted saying it would... This is the worst experience I've ever had on a bus. Coming from OHare, the bus was 20 min late and on an 83 degree day, had no air conditioning. The bus was stuffy and extremely hot and no one cared. The driver was rude and when one elderly man asked if there were any windows that could be opened, instead of saying no, she said,"Do you see any windows hat open? Twice! I phoned the dispatch at one of the stops and they said, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do" On my return this morning, it's 45 degrees outstanding de and no heat on the bus. The driver apologized and explained the problem. Same as the ac problem, just with heat. When we arrived at the second stop on our way to OHare and Midway, the driver calls into the Highland station and is told that the OHare bus wasn't running. Nothing said or done to take care of the 4 passengers with flights out of OHare. The driver went inside to find out what was going on and I followed. The woman behind the desk said "we're not doing anything to get you there. You can wait for the next bus". I told her I would miss my flight and she said,"they won't order Uber's". I said, "what are you going to do for the four of us and she said nothing. I asked her to call the head office, which she did and handed me the phone where I spoke with Juan. He was rude and condescending and said they will do nothing to get us to OHare and if I would read my ticket I would see that they have no obligation to get us to the airport. My ticket didn't say that and I told him. He continued to repeat that he would do nothing and that's just the way it was. I told him I wanted a refund and he says he would give me one. Little compensation for missing my flight. If you have any other option, don't take Coach USA or the Airport Supersaver. They don't take care of there customers and don't care. My driver today has been helpful and courteous, but Winnie, the driver on my first trip was rude and unhelpful. read more

In October it took me six hours to get from midway to south bend. Completely ridiculous. My flight was shorter than the time it took me to get from the airport to south bend. Currently sitting again in the highland stop again delayed 40 minutes. Coach USA representative is sitting behind the counter making personal calls on cell phone. Refuses to give me an accurate time when the bus will arrive. Coach USA has zero customer service. For a company that that treats its customers time like it's nothing I would strongly avoid traveling with this company. Coach USA does not communicate or offer transparency when running late which is a huge inconvenience to anyone who cares about their time. This will be the last time using coach USA. read more

Worst Shuttle Company ever. I arrive at one of their buses and was told I have to buy a ticket in the shuttle center at O'Hare. Here is the thing on multiple occasions I have been able to buy tickets onboard the bus. That is their policy to allow that. I ask the bus driver if she will wait for me. She said we will see. I am beyond furious that she basically was too lazy to sell me a ticket. As soon as I walk out of site of course the bus drives off. I call there customer service number and get a voicemail. Let me start by saying that I've been taking this bus for the past 30 years to O'hare and Midway and never had a problem. It used to be efficient, on time and professional....well, not anymore!!! Last week I arrived at 5am at the Highland terminal to catch the 5:20am bus to Midway. I noticed about 3 other passengers heading to Midway also. The lady behind the counter, that was still selling tickets for the trip didn't have a clue that the 5:20am bus didn't have a driver. I overheard her talking on the phone to someone, when she realized that there wasn't a driver, she seemed like "oh this again"... I asked her about the 5:20 bus and she said that there wasn't a driver and that bus wouldn't be going to Midway. When I asked her how we were supposed to get to Midway, she said "you'll just have to figure out another way". I was floored!! She did offer to refund the ticket that she had just sold another passenger, but mine she couldn't refund due to the fact that I had purchased it online. She said that they used to call Uber, but didn't do that anymore because they were OVERWHELMING that service!! HA HA HA!! That told me that this company and service is on it's way out!! Totally mismanaged, no regard for customer service, and a huge "We don't give a shit" attituded! We ended up taking an Uber to Midway with 3 other customers. On our way home from Midway, our bus driver (that was on her cell phone the entire time, and not wearing a seat belt) had some people that were going from Midway to O'hare, but that bus wasn't going to be running either, due to not having a driver for that route. I can only imagine how long those poor people's day was.... Anyone that books a trip with them are in for a rude and unprofessional experience...if they even get a bus to take them where they're going. That trip from Midway was my last for this company! How the hell do they let me buy a ticket online and then cancel the stop. Well at 5:15am when I called to see where the hell the bus was I discovered that they decided to just cancel it and oh well if I missed my flight. The solution was try and find a ride to highland and catch one from there....WTH....I ended up getting to Highland with no time to spare. I must say though the driver I think her name was Chris was friendly very apologetic and did a good job of getting me to the airport. read more

LEFT STRANDED at Midway on Feb 1. A group of about a dozen travelers were waiting outside for a Coach USA bus scheduled to arrive at 11:15 PM that never came. When I called their number I was told that it was "cancelled" but I could get a refund. Well, great, but I need a ride back to Indiana. What do I do, wait for the next bus at 5:15 AM? Yes, I was told, if you want to use our service, you'll have to wait til 5:15. Some of the group did that, they camped out without food service, waiting til dawn. I opted for a taxi ride home - $125 - but I got a refund of $21 on the unused ticket! They are irresponsible, undependable, and uncaring. They "cancel" certain scheduled routes and offer refunds while you get stranded. BEWARE! read more

I have never written a poor review before but I wouldn't want anyone To have the experience I had Friday night. Before leaving I wanted to make sure of the bus schedule since things change and websites for some reason do not get updated so I called the 800 number and was told that the buses are on an hourly schedule with last bus on that night being 9:45 fantastic thinking my flight arrives at 8:05. I might be able to catch the 8:45 bus. Traveling home after visiting family for the holidays, I opted to use Tri State Coach to get from South Bend to Midway. The bus was a little delayed, which was no big deal since I had given myself plenty of time to get to the airport....or so I thought. After we picked up a few passengers in Michigan City, our bus came to a grinding halt in the middle of the road. Eventually the driver was able to turn into a hotel parking lot. The bus had a transmission problem...fine these things happen. However, the driver was NOT communicating with us and would not tell us how long it would be before another bus would arrive. I called my parents and asked if they would come get me and drive me into Chicago. 45 minutes later, a second bus showed up before my parents could get there. I decided to take my chances. However, I knew that we would miss our transfer in Illinois to get to Midway, so I asked the driver if someone could arrange a cab or uber from the station to Midway, since this debacle had been Coach USA's fault. He agreed and a few minutes later said a cab would be waiting. Well, when we arrived at the station 10 miles south of Midway, lo and behold there was no cab. I was now getting anxious as it was 1.75 hours before my flight and there had been a snow and ice storm all day. I had originally planned to be at Midway 3 hours before my flight took off. I begged the counter agent to get me a cab and she said she could not per company policy. I ended up having to take a $40 uber ride to the airport. My bags were miraculously checked exactly 1 minute before the 45 minute cut-off. I have called CoachUSA multiple times since December and they still have not refunded me for the uber ride, even though they have told me repeatedly that they will "send me a check" 4 months later and I am still waiting. The sad part is, I didn't even ask them to reimburse me for the original ticket, just the additional expense that I incurred because of the issues with their own buses. read more
