My flight was made up of my typical dark beers, but Black Widow stood out. I was instructed (not told, but instructed!) to drink this last. Let me tell you, the beertender was right. Don't even think of drinking it first. You won't remember any other beers afterwards. Make sure you look at their chalkboard. Don't keep ordering things that have a yellow dot. Whenever I travel someplace new, I'm always looking to find a brewery there ASAP. That was certainly true of a recent stay in Palm Springs. Though I'd never been to any part of this desert valley spanning Palm Springs to the Salton Sea before. Sure as anything, Coachella Valley Brewing was on the agenda for my 1st day in the region. Like most craft breweries, CVB is located in an industrial area not particularly close to much else. Arriving on an early Sunday afternoon with my partner in crime, the parking lot was full of dirt bikes. It seems motocross madness across the sandy desert is popular around these parts. Inside was fairly busy & had a different sort of a biker bar vibe going on. We readily found a couple seats at the bar & got down to the business of trying some of their beers. Which took a little figuring out to do. The chalkboard had an impressive 26 beers listed. But only about 1/2 were available at the time, as designated by a large yellow dot next to the name of the beer. Once we stopped picking beers without a yellow dot, we managed to cobble together 2 tasting flights. & so, while I watched the San Diego Chargers lose yet another game this season on the flat-panel TV hung above the large open doorway behind the bar, we tasted & deliberated the 8 CVB beers we picked. There's also a cooler in the corner of the taproom across from the bar where I found 1 more CVB beer I wanted to try in a 22oz. bomber. I grabbed that on the way out & cracked it later that night. All told, my average rating on Untappd for the 9 beers tasted was just a shade under 4 out of 5, which is excellent. Wherever I may roam, if there's beer there, I will seek it out. & I will find it. While I have no idea if/ when I may ever be back around these parts. I do know if/ when I am, I will also be back at Coachella Valley Brewing. Hopefully, then, I'll get to try some of those beers that didn't have yellow dots this last time. read more

While the bartender was super nice, I was not a huge fan of the beers I sampled with the flight I ordered. The sour tasted a bit watered down, whereas the IPAs were not as good as others I have tried. read more

We rolled in on Sunday ... Mother's Day!!! And they did me proud and super happy by closing at 7 instead of 6. I was expecting to enjoy only one beer but instead enjoyed two! The atmosphere is mellow. They sell snacks. The bathrooms are minimal. It's not really kid friendly. BUT THE BEER IS GOOD. This is definitely our go to brewery in the desert. Back for Father's Day. Got to visit this brewery when in the area. Nice signage out front to catch your attention. Parking was relatively plenty this late Sunday afternoon. Great selection of beers from light to dark, low to high ABVs, Sours, IPAs, stouts, etc. Restroom, 1 person at a time, male & female restrooms. Water is available. Just ask for the glass and fill your own glass at the water station by the restrooms. Couldn't pass up on the $15 tasters (5 tasters which included take home logo pint glass). Friendly atmosphere. Games available. Bring own snacks or if you want, purchase theirs, but it was very limited today with only mango habanero jerky. Fan to keep customers cool in today's 105 degree. Appreciated that there's table and bar seats available because I prefer to touch the ground & not worry about feet slipping off the foot rest. read more

We're on vacation & found this brewery online. When we walked in there was nobody in there and the bartender just kind of looked at us without saying anything. I explained that we're from out of town and he just said "ok". The beer I wanted that was on their online menu was out & the bartender offered no explanation about the beers, specials, or anything really. We had to ask all of the questions including how to order food. The food by Kuma was OUTSTANDING! The beer was also pretty good. Overall, the experience was good, but the customer service aspect is completely missing. read more

I love CVB beers, but today I woke up Tia broken Kolschella in the fridge. We are on vacation and I picked up some beers for the trip. This morning I woke up and the beer had busted, but the other beers didn't? Maybe the bottle had a small crack in it? It didn't freeze until after the bottle broke...that's my TV CSI watching conclusion. No other beers, waters, milk, or other liquids were frozen so its crazy to think that only ONE beer froze and broke. Oh well I love the beers and I'll keep drinking them, but be careful with the bottles! One more thing...the Kolschella is probably my favorite beer! It's so good and I'm in mourning that I lost one! read more

This brewery is in a business district but that's what makes it's so hip! The vibe is real chill, outdoor patio super sweet. But the real star here is off course the beer, so many sours on tap that are just done right! My husband loved the stouts as well! Re visited this place this weekend. So bummed indoor seating isn't available but the beer is awesome and there is a wide range of choices. You can create your own 4 pack for 18 or buy pre made 4 packs from 14 to 18 bucks. They do have an outdoor section you can sit down and have a drink but you need to order food with your drink purchase. Customer service was good. Employee was knowledgeable and answered all questions about certain drinks. Awesome place and highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

My boyfriend and I were passing through on our way to Arizona and found this place so we could sit in the outdoor area with our dog. We had looked up the menu on our way there and were looking forward to getting some beers and food from their caterer on site. They both did not disappoint, the burger was soooooo good. The bacon jam on it was amazing. The beers we got were the west coast ipa and it was so refreshing. We both said that this would be a place we'll stop again when we're passing through. I like to sample local breweries when on vacation. I found this brewery through Yelp. As with many breweries, they are located in an industrial park. They had almost twenty brews to select from. They offer flights of four. I had a flight. I liked their Vienna and Mexican style lagers. I especially liked their sour wheat ale. I also had their porter. The service was friendly and efficient. Their taproom was stylish and involved many stainless steel furnishings. They offer tours on the weekends which was not available on my weekday visit. I recommend this brewery. read more

Went here with a friend. This place was smaller then I expected but was able to find a place to sit. This place was Poppin for Octoberfest they had contests on going when we walked in. They had a great variety of of beers. Something for everyone. I had the Brandy infused beer and it was rough to have a full pour. Also tried the barley wine and couldn't figure out my opinion on it. Cool spot to hangout and have a drink. I will take my wife back to try out the beers and check this place out. Customer service was standard. Regulars in the place were very friendly and assisted us with ordering some beers quicker then standing in line. This place is definitely worth a try. read more

I have been coming here for a year and I cannot say enough about this place. I come here for the beer of course ( best selection of craft beer in the desert!) but also the staff. Wes, Mikki, Dacoda and Jeshua are the best! At this point, they are friends of mine and it's a great place to unwind in a casual environment. My neighbor turned me on to CVB. We live in Chino, CA. Dad and I spent a few hours here last week Friday. Tried two flights. Fell in love with the Creamsicle. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. The Cajon / Louisiana food truck was delicious. I purchased 3 - 6 packs to go and a bar of soap. My parents came back a week later and purchased for my birthday a growler of Creamsicle and a CVB hat. Stopped by while in the area to grab a cold one and came across CVB. They have a nice selection for everyone. I was able to enjoy some good IPAs while the better half tried some good Fruit and Sour styles. Beer is actually priced competitively as well at $6 bucks a pour. We will make a point to be here again next time we're in the area. read more

Whenever I'm in the Coachella Valley I make it a point to stop by and see what new stuff these guys have been brewing...yesterday's visit was extra good...Robert (who's an awesome knowledgeable beertender) let me sample the Whopper...an imperial milk stout that did have hints of a whopper. I loved it so much I brought a bottle back home. The variety of beers here is impressive and there's something for most types of palettes. You can even get an ever so popular Michelada. The place was not crowded at all that Saturday night which is just what I needed but I hear it can get packed. The playlist was great, the location is easy to find, the staff was attentive. I feel bad for having to give such a poor rating...but this was easily the most disappointing craft brewery I've come across yet. Upon arrival, the premise was great - clean and inviting with plenty of seating. With an extensive list of beers up on the board, I was excited to gradually make my way through them...until I learned that they only had light summer and fruit beers available. The Summer Desert Swarm and Extreme Heart were solid, drinkable beers for hot weather, but otherwise unremarkable. After that, there was really nothing left as not a single one of the IPAs was available...not even a session. I can understand the limited availability for such a new brewery to some extent, but the prices are well above average too. Tasters cost $2.50 each and pints run from $7-9 across the board. Definitely nice folks and I wish them well, they've just got a lot of work to do. read more

I am limited in the craft beer scene so I can only compare this establishment to one I visited in Orenco Station, Oregon. THAT place had 20 selections to sample and you were not charged for tastes. In addition, the highest priced glass was $4.50. Granted, they offer many items that they do not brew but isn't that what you want? To be matched up with other breweries and strengthening the craft brew base in general? Here, they start at $7 and they do not have much to offer in terms of variety. The location is clean and one of the owners allowed me a peek at the back. Operations could be conducted at this facility. I was impressed with their cleanliness though. They are off the beaten path when it comes to location but as the word gets out and they refine their program maybe they will stick around. It sounds as though they are getting support from local eateries. The craft brew drinkers will not keep them open here in the desert. They need to be broader and more expansive. One tip I will give the owners. My son and I got out of our car and we noticed the ALLURE of BBQ. Here, in the middle of an industrial complex? Come to find out that the owners had prepared some munchies and they decided to eat in front of the sparse crowd of patrons. Very uncool. The décor of this place reminded me of wineries in Paso Robles but they have a long way to go when it comes to their hospitality. They are definitely a little gruff. read more

Yes, I enjoyed the majority of the brews I tried, and generally speaking the prices were on-par with most breweries. More of a tasting room, you were lucky that they had any morsels at all. Sadly, they didn't have their entire selection available on my virgin visit. But it was the time spent with casual aquaintances, local people, and the incredible staff that encompassed the enjoyment I had here. As lovely as the beer was it proved to be more of the proverbial icing on the cake. My wife and son arrived around noon on Saturday and were the first customers in. We were very happy to find the place was blasting AC and had games for our son. We cracked out some chess and checkers and cards and played games the whole time. When it came time to order our brews we ordered a flight of everything. The beers that stand out the most in order from best to least best are 1) Phoenix Vienna Style Lager 5%ABV (best brew by far) 2) Berlinerweisse Kettle Sour 5%ABV (tastes like SeaDog) 3) Hazy Swarm New England Hazy India Pale Ale 7%ABV 4) Kolschella German Kolsch-style Ale 4.7%ABV (Love me some Summertime Kolsch) 5) A bit of a mystery German Chocolate Cake, I'm not to sure on the ABV but I'm thinking it was 10ish. It's for members only but the guy was nice enough to let us try it anyway. Glad he did but I don't think I would order it again. It's an amazing beer don't get me wrong but it's very powerful and it's truly a great testament to the brewer for being able to make a beer taste like Cake. I think they took the Darth Widow Russian Imperial Stout 13%ABV Non-Barrel Aged, Made with Cinnamon & Maple Syrup, and added Vanilla and Coconut flavor. Just go for it and share with your friends I promise you will not be disappointed you ever ordered this beer.
