We paid an outrageous price for a home neglected and in poor repair. Upon arrival, Not a single window opens and no screens on the doors. Stuffy and stale smelling. The outdoor yard was dirty and overgrown, littered with dead landscape, patio and deck dirty, moldy cushions. Although they cleaned and replaced, this should all be done before quests arrive and not because they complain. Could be a nice home but needs lots of repair and maintenance.The location is also a dicey neighborhood. Some nice homes next to neglected and trashy rentals. Never again. read more

ZERO STARS and they had to change their name to Emerald Kite, because of the bad reviews. TRAVELER BEWARE!!! We were looking to rent a large property in Mexico or Caribbean. Jennifer was my representative to help me look for properties to rent for our vacation. This company pulled the BAIT AND SWITCH. Our #1 choice was available and the average nightly was $2124. I understand there can be fluctuation between low season and high season; however, I knew we were within budget knowing the average. After selecting the property and emailing Jennifer for the weekly total I was surprised to see the amount was grossly over the average. I then asked for itemized costs to see what was what. Emerald Kite at that point had changed the property listing number as well as more than DOUBLED the rate!!! With the new listing, the average nightly was $4576 with peak season being $8000/per night!! Calling to speak with Jennifer to see what has transpired, she offered no logical explanation or solution. HORRIBLE customer service. I asked to have the property owner call me, not going to happen. I asked who owned the company, she said she couldn't tell me that. I asked who her boss was and to speak to them, couldn't tell me her supervisor's name or transfer me. SCAM SCAM SCAM. I wouldn't bother wasting any more time looking at properties on this site. I spent two days picking out perfect property for the BAIT AND SWITCH. It's like I just left a sleazy used car dealership and I need a bath. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. I would pick zero stars if possible. This company also goes by the name Emerald Kite vacation rentals based out of Ann Arbor, MI. We booked and paid for a Maui rental house only to find out that they double booked the house. They tried to provide what they called comparable properties that were available to rent. One was $12,000 more than our original house and another was close on price but did not have the same amount of rooms or space. Dealing with customer service was a nightmare. Nobody would help try and solve the issue. They would not even consider covering some of the costs to try and find a property that we could agree on. Good luck to you if you choose this company. We live in Florida and decided to take a trip to Maui and went in 2022. Came across Emerald Kite and booked a condo through them. Our experience working with them was excellent. Our condo was just like the photos and was right on the beach. It was a working vacation so internet service was a MUST and it was perfect as promised. The beach was great and the pool was hard to leave. We asked for some recommendations from Emerald Kite about restaurants to eat at and must see activities and the team at Emerald Kite jumped right in and made great recommendations. Highly recommend Maui if you've never been and Emerald Kite which helped make the trip better. with there suggestions. I would suggest if you dont live on the west coast, stay at least 7 nights because the flights can be long and takes a day to recover. read more

Rented a house in Fl for last month from this company. They tacked on a huge multi-thousand dollar fee on top of rental cost and rental agent fee. Got nothing in the contract, no heated pool/spa, etc. No concierage service that they promised. They had no person based in the city where I rented and none who even knew a taxi company or private driver. They said their $8600 concierage service included services like that. These people never returned calls and I have yet to get my refundable deposit back. Even the agent for the rental company had never heard of them. THe house was not even cleaned when I got there because they had the wrong arrival date; no coffee pot, no clean sheets, etc, and this was a high end rental. The company appears to be a scam. Once they got their money in front, no calls returned or anything. No follow through. Stay away! read more

Emerald Kite used to be publicly branded as "coast to coast" - their rental agreement still shows their previous name . I was SUPER hesitant to book with them when I was contacted by a rep finally , on the Same day that the trip was going to take place . I have seen many scams and it was very possible that my search patterns etc got scammers my info . and the accent -I hate to say it - also didn't help those concerns. The rep , JC, was extremely diligent with finding me a home that would accommodate my requests. It would take a great deal of time and follow up on his end because home owners aren't responsive and so when his first option had stairs (a no for our group ) I was hesitant he would find another in time ! JC was persistent and kept me updated throughout day . When he sent me the 2nd option I was in love... not to mention desperate bc of timing ! Still , when he asked for my cc info I basically declined. I had him send me the contract email first even though that is not protocol and they were already long since closed ! His email went to junk box which again gave me pause but still I reluctantly relented and provided my info. My cc /bank flagged the charge and didn't process it - so you can imagine what level of anxiety I was at ! (It was $8k+ with security deposit etc .) JC had to call back multiple times to check numbers on cc and address etc but it was just the bank issue that resolved when I approved the charge. After all that , he still sent a kind text thanking me (even though I called him nothing short of fraud !). Driving up to the house I was scared we wouldn't get in ... well... The issue I had with this monthlong Long Boat Key, Florida rental is that we were never informed beforehand that we would be surrounded so closely by heavy duty construction -- loud and dirty -- all day long every day. The noise made the house unlivable. When we complained to Emerald Kite (aka Coast 2 Coast), they basically "lawyered up," pointing to the contract. Several huge houses were being built to our right and behind us, with loud generators, chainsaws, leaf blowers, hammers, and other equipment going from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The house they were building right next door was 5 feet from our property line, with scaffolding hanging over into our pool area. This situation was not at all reflected in the internet description and photos provided by Emerald Kite. The pictures on the internet showed a nice view of the canal. In reality, we are looking at an ugly big black wall with scaffolding and workmen within just a few feet of our pool, which was the only outdoor seating area available on our property. The other issue is that we were never informed that the house was for sale. There was a steady stream of potential buyers, home inspectors, appraisers, and maintenance men. We had to put up with not one, but two, house viewings just two days after our arrival, forcing us out of our rental. We did not feel comfortable having strangers traipsing through the house and did not appreciate being forced out of our rental home, especially at the price we were paying. And we certainly don't feel comfortable hanging around while strangers went through the rooms containing our personal belongings. The contract stated that such viewings were "rare" and "reasonable." The situation was far from fair and reasonable. We would never have accepted this rental had we been informed of the situation. We could have rented anywhere else in the US or any other country, had we known. Instead, when we complained upon arrival, Emerald Kite "lawyered up," saying it is in the contract. And, then, when we continued to complain, we received an email saying, "This ticket is closed." I certainly don't consider that good customer service, especially by a self-touted "concierge" company. read more

My complaint is with Emerald Kite vacation rentals. While the service when BOOKING the Anna Maria Islande rental was good, the actual "interaction" with them after check in was quite different. First of all, we learned to book LOCAL, companies that are locally owned, invest in the community, and have a history. Never ever again will I use a 2nd or 3rd rental company; I'll do the research and find a local agent. Each customer service request was answered BUT then it was forwarded to the local real estate/management company. Thus adding a day (or more on weekends) to get a response. The local company handled all the issues in a timely manner. Another problem was the full on construction going on next door from 7am to 5pm. I emailed Emerald Kite that I didn't think it was fair I was paying the high prices to not be able to enjoy peace and quiet. They didn't feel it was their problem so no compensation was offered. Also, upon reexamination of the property we rented on Anna Maria Island, the house is listed as 4 baths and on another of their sites a 3 bath., There were only 3 bathrooms. I double checked this with the local agent who actually manages the property and it IS a 3 bath house. Another feature Emerald Kite boasts is the use of their "professional concierge staff who will be delighted to make dining reservations....." When I requested a reservation at a particular restaurant the response was ""CALL THE RESTAURANT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BETWEEMN 9AM-4PM TO MAKE A RESERVATION." I'm sure some people have had a good experience; we did not and I would never use them again. Plus, I now know how good the local rental company is and I would happily give them the business. read more

While they may be perfectly legit, they simply tag a 25-30% price over what the Property Mgmt Company will rent it to you. Do yourself a favor: If you find a property on Emerald Kite's website that you like, search on that property description to find the LOCAL property mgmt company that is listing and managing that property. You will save yourself hundreds if not thousands of dollars! read more

Beachfront home in Kauai for Christmas sounds great right? Well home has rats, is dirty (hence the rats), poorly stocked, falling apart, and has homeless people living in their car In the back yard. Good thing I used a luxury travel agency like Emerald Kite and paid 30k for 2 weeks. Warning stay away, they claim to provide profesionally managed propertuse but won't email back when there is a problem. Been to Hawaii 4 times and first 3 times booking VRBO were amazing. First and last time using Coast 2 Coast and Emerald Bay. Stay away, they provide no benefit and rent crap claiming it is luxury. read more
