For the first time in my life- I am beyond happy with my visit! (Like seriously I have texted everyone, raved about it at work to my coworkers who don't care, and am now leaving this review). This was my first visit to Coast Dental. It starts with me entering the office, and you are in direct view with 3 dental assistants. Every single one of them was busy (you know working), and every single one of them looked up at me, smiled, acknowledged me, said hi, and offered to help me sign in. (Literally never happens at any doctor's office you go to). I then sit down (in this beautiful comforting lobby), pull out my homework expecting a 20-30 minute wait time (per usual in doctors' offices), and I do not even think I read 1-2 pages and I was already called back. Debbie brings me back (super nice) and informs me that because I am a new patient I am only here to get X-rays. I'm a tad bit bummed, and I say so because I thought I had also scheduled a cleaning too, but I had not. Oh well, I shall be back again. Already enjoying the experience -and I hate dental offices. Anyways....X-rays are given in your seat (best thing ever), and they have the tiniest chip thing (because I am very sensitive, and they talked me through the whole thing and made me feel so comfortable). After X-rays are done, Debbie managed to talk to Natalie -the hygienist- and she can see me after all! She does her exam, and then performs the cleaning. Let me just say, first off best cleaning ever. I could actually tell a difference. But also, I could see it in the way she cleaned my teeth. She went over and over and over again making sure every teeth was cleaned properly (no joke). All the while giving me great advice on what I should use, and what would help me in the long run. Also, supppppper friendly and sweet. I then went back to see Dr. Dylan Bale....where the real test was coming. See he didn't know but the previous dentist I had gone to had said I needed a crown....and I was wondering if a) this was true or b) I was getting ripped off-and clearly hoping I was. He performs his exam, and while I do have two cavities (story of my life -sweet tea and coffee are my downfall), they are baby ones, nowhere near the previous "crown needed." And even better they said they could get them done at the moment, saving me an office visit copay and having to take off more time from work. This literally NEVER HAPPENS. I did turn them down....because I had made prior commitments (to go to the gym! And I did). But obviously will be back again. I have literally had horrible experiences with previous dental offices. So I am so happy to say that I finally found my dentist! And ALLLLLLL the staff is amazing and great and really, really do care about their patients! Had a scheduled appointment, confirmed it multiple times, came in on time. Then waited there for 40 minutes only to be told that they have no time to fix my tooth, leaving me without a care over weekend. Not to mention the time I have wasted. I will never come here again and don't recommend it to anyone. read more

Coast Dental has become an embarrassment to the Dental Association. Their only concern is "upselling " you for additional services. Erika, the Dental Assistant will upsell services such as Gingival Free Anesthetic and Flouride treatment despite my request to not have these services multiple times. Then she says it is company policy which is not a policy with other offices. When I called in the morning to verify charges, I was told there would be no charge and my balance is zero. After waiting an hour and a half (without an apology) Erika tells me the $108 is a mandatory charge for Gingival Treatment (4 applications). When I questioned if this was mandatory the Office Manager, Terry Gist, says I should've asked beforehand. Then miraculously she reduced it to $48. When I told her I called in before my appointment she says, that was the call center, they don't know our services. I can't make this up, I will be switching offices after 20 years, very sad what this office has become read more

I didn't get to go. Clash with my chemotherapy treatment on the 29th. Personally, I think that you are a greedy company that only cares about money!!! You want to keep telling me that I owe you $620. Last week it was $610. My EOB'S state that my patient responsibility is $0.00. I have called the office 7 times to discuss. I will be looking for a new dental office for 2026. Let's start with the obvious **45min..pushing the Sales,sales,sales. ** Pushing procedures that are not needed....Deep cleaning for $1650 and if after 45min of sales tactics is not enough,let's try the $530 silicone trays with 1 tube of hydrogen peroxide for you to use every night.($20 at CVS) ** Tele medicine dentist.... OMG,now I seen it all....yes,I got a dentist to see me on video and she was not even part of the office... she's a dentist paid by that office to read the X-rays and unless she God...she can't see the actual surface of the top of the teeth...which I pointed out to her that #19 has a small dent and she went oh,I see....yes...it's 100% snake oil office!! Btw..I have a good dental insurance and since they couldn't find anything wrong with my teeth and refuse to do the normal cleaning and had that dentist on video intimidate me with the scare tactics that if no deep cleaning was done,then no cleaning will be done at all....then ,I was told that my insurance is only a discount insurance,which is b.s.because it's a market dental plan and it's illegal to be a discount plan...I should know,I sell Obamacare plans. I have never had a in a dental office. I was approached three times trying me while on the phone with my insurance company who covers 100%. I was there for over an hour and a half never received my and could not understand anything that they were trying to push on me or get me to accept. It was in overall horrible experience with their dental hygienist. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Office mgr. Is incompetent and stupid on top of that. Doesn't bother to check with insurance to see if procedure is covered. Instead You pay and you call ins. To check and guess what.. it's coverd and trying to get your refund back is nearly impossible . As all the phones are " email is full" or gone for the day. Out to lunch .one excuse after another. they say it's going to take 2 months to get my refund. When I paid it came out of my bank account before I got home.that day.. this company. I say that losley as it's a joke. As soon as I get my refund. I'm done If I never see a dentist again is ok with me. I had a great experience at this location a few years ago. I had a crown that came off my canine tooth last week, and when I went in, they would not reattach it or put a temporary. They let me leave with a tooth missuing. They require an $800 cleaning before they will fix my crown. this was a crown I had done at this particular office years ago. I was not expecting this outcome after having such a positive experience in the past. I'm very disappointed. read more

I hate to say this, I'd put 0 stars if I could. I sat through a very inefficient phone call to schedule my appointment. I asked over and over again whether or not they take my insurance and they stated that yes, they did. After waiting two weeks for my appointment, I walked in only to have them say that they actually DON'T take my insurance. The receptionist said she called me but used the wrong area code because she "assumed" I had a local area code. So after waiting two weeks in bad pain, I am now back to square one. The technician is very inexperienced. Asked several questions and she couldn't answer. The cleaning nurse was impolite and used Spanish to talk all the time we couldn't understand. Ended up the doctor couldn't finish her patient and asked us to reschedule. Doctor was arrogant too. Not a caring facility. Front deal was fine. read more

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY OR THE SMILES PLUS DISCOUNT PROGRAM! I paid $300...I know that's not a lot of money to some people, but to me it's a lot of money, especially nowadays. From the moment I walked in the door everybody was rude except the dentist himself he was extremely nice. The girls behind the counter are very rude very short very abrasive and unprofessional. I know I don't have enough money to take care of my mouth problems but the treatment I got when I went in there was almost like an animal or piece of garbage. After scrounging up every penny I had to buy this discount plan which says I get two free cleanings a year, I made an appt , I went in to get my free cleaning .. I was then told they couldn't do my free cleaning because I needed more than just a regular cleaning. I asked if they could just do the cleaning I paid for and please just don't do whatever else they needed to do .. it should be my call.. it's my mouth ... it's not surgery that I need or I would completely understand.. it's just a cleaning ...they said they could not do that and that it would cost me 600+ dollars to get the extensive cleaning that I needed. However the dentist looked in my mouth the actual doctor himself and told me besides the one tooth that I had that had decay or a cavity however you want to word it, my mouth was perfect and fine and everything looked good. So I do not understand why I needed a $600 cleaning instead of the free cleanIng I was told I would get with the plan I paid for. So now I have a $300 discount plan that is no good to me with two x-rays taken ( of course the X-rays they took were also not included in the plan ) I had to pay for these extra on top of the $300 they did nothing they've done nothing else but looked in my mouth and taken x-rays and I'm out $300 and they will not give me a refund SO BEWARE!! AND it doesn't really matter how you guys respond to me you cannot change the way I was treated and you cannot change the fact that you were very unprofessional ... My ratting is -5. Any one dissatisfied with this dentist should write a formal complaint to Floridahealth.gov. There is a form on that web site for making a formal complaint about this dentist or any other unqualified practitioner you should encounter. I personally had a very unfavorable contact with Dr Dillon Bale at Coast Dental. He deformed my face by his poor dental practice and not interested in correcting his errors . I had to go elsewhere to undo the damage he caused. Be very aware of this practice. They are also very underhanded about their billing methods. Unfair and unethical billing practices. Bully's, constant staff turnover - new hygienist every time, most of which fresh out of school and poor quality. Advertise, solicit and text page you open appts as one group but they don't tell you it could be any location. Then if it's different- they charge you as a new patient, new X-rays etc. If you want to decline any part of care they tell you you can't be their patient - essentially extortion to sign your patient care agreement. You basically have no opinion, no respect and zero financial ethics at this company. Should be fired from insurance programs. read more

Do not recommend this practice. They do not know how to do business. My husband had an appointment for today at 3:20. He received a text yesterday saying his appointment was going to get rescheduled because they needed his insurance information. He called the number provided in the text and the lady on the phone assured him his appointment would not get rescheduled and it was fine. He walked into the practice at 3:15 today for his 3:20 appointment and he received a text saying his appointment is cancelled. He talked to the receptionist and she said there's nothing they can do even though he was told over the phone everything was fine. Not sure how you text someone 5 minutes before their appointment to say it's cancelled?? He needed to be seen by a dentist as required by the military. Coast Dental is unethical in the practice. Stay away from these people. The worst root canal experience. Go to your local endodontist instead. They have no business doing root canals. The dentist in charge knows my root canal was a hot miss but too unethical to take responsibility. read more

Zero stars!!!!!! DONT COME HERE!!!! THE DENTIST numbed my tooth then didn't even test it to make sure it was numb then started digging in my tooth and it wasn't numb!!!! Blood everywhere he tries to numb me then just jumps up and says I'm done I'm can't get it numb, walks out the room and refused to come back!!!! The dental assistant asked him to come in cause I was bleeding bad and he said No I don't have time for her I have other patients!!!!!!! This was like a horror movie!!! Please be aware that this place is nothing short of a chop shop, let me explain. I went in with some issues with a front tooth, they informed me I needed extensive work due to the original post being broken in this tooth. They recommended I get 6 teeth capped as they could not match up the tooth in question. I went ahead with capping all 6 teeth, this was a huge mistake as a year later I was visiting another dentist to have 3 of them recapped because there was such bad work done previously. THE KICKER IS THAT THE POST IN THE ORIGINAL TOOTH I HAD WANTED WORK DONE ON WAS NOT BROKEN BUT WAS FULLY INTACT AS MY CURRENT DENTIST INFORMED ME. To add insult to injury they are claiming my insurance company owed them $900 and are now after me for payment through collections. I settled the account in full after the work was done just to clarify. Please take my advise and avoid at all costs. read more

I do not like coast dental. This place socks and don't really take care of your needs no matter how much you told them which one needed attention. They concentrate more on the part where they will make a lot of money. The dentist will not look at your teeth physically but rather looked at the xray. From there he will base the things that needs to be done. Cosmetic dental which the patient don't really needs. I was not very happy on my visit especially the ones on waters and Hanley. read more

This is my first yelp review and I truly felt like if I didn't write a review I would be doing a disservice. I walked in today for a second opinion. The dentist was NOT WEARING A MASK. When I asked him to put on his mask (not even an N95) he responded a little annoyed. The dental assistant also wasn't wearing a mask. Is this a joke??! They had old magazines stacked near the dental table like it's 1990. I walked out disgusted. If I don't get Covid from this it will be a miracle. I was shocked and I will be filing a report tomorrow. It's a pandemic and they give you a pen that has been sitting there (the previous person used it before me). The dentist wasn't wearing any PPE. Not even a face shield. Don't go there. It's extremely old and the staff isnt communicative and appears rather rude. I don't care about attitudes but health safety should be the Nr 1 concern right now. read more

The same level of service received at the office seems to extend to corporate. They responded to my concern with a phone number for patient quality assurance (855 455 6601). I contacted the number as requested. It is simply asking you to leave a message. Patients call when it is convenient for them and then have to wait for a call back. If there was true concern for quality the line should be manned and able to take calls as they come in. read more

I am from out of town, but they were able to take care of my urgent dental need and were able to do a routine cleaning also while I was there! Everyone was friendly, professional and very attentive to my comfort. I recommend Coast Dental very highly! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. I was in need of a new dentist because my previous dentist was no longer in network, which is a shame because he is great. I scheduled a routine exam and cleaning with Coast Dental - South Tampa online and specifically mentioned what I was scheduling for in the comments section on the booking screen. I also called them to confirm that I was indeed scheduled for both and was told that I was. When I went for my appointment today, they had me wait for 55 mins before taking me in. I checked with the front desk every 20 mins who checked with the doctor/dental assistant and each time came back and said "They're just finishing up with another patient " or "they're cleaning up and prepping the room for you". What was interesting was that I didn't see any patients coming out (except for 2 patients who got there after me and left before me because they were scheduled with someone else... or so I was told). Finally when they took me in they wanted to get my x-rays done. I told them I was pregnant and shouldn't be taking x-rays and that I was there for a routine evaluation without x-rays and for a cleaning. The dental assistant said they didn't have me scheduled for a cleaning and couldn't determine if and what kind of cleaning I'll need unless they look at my gums in an x-ray. Having worked as a dental assistant myself for years in the past, I know this was a bad excuse. She said she'll check with the doctor and the hygienist and come back. A few mins later the assistant and hygienist came back, both agreed that I shouldn't get x-rays in my current stage of pregnancy, and said they'll check with the doctor on what to do next. Another few minutes went by and they returned saying the dentist will not do the exam without x-rays and they cannot do any cleaning without an exam and without x-rays. Through all my routine dental visits during prior pregnancies, I've never run into these issues with any other place. There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't do an exam and why x-rays are needed for cleaning. Such a scam and a gimmick. read more

I have lived overseas for 18+ years and was so happy to return to this office I used to go to all the time. I even encouraged others to do so. I loved it! Boy, was I in for a surprise! My appointment was at 8:50 am, and I arrived about 8:30 (worried about morning traffic) to find a sign on the door saying the office hours were 8 to 5, however the office was closed up and dark. One guy standing out in front said his appointment was at 8:30. They finally opened it at 8:39 am. Then I was called back at 9:05 or so, and had x rays taken around my whole head. Then back to the dental chair, where I was shown charges for today. I asked about the oral cancer check, and he said they recommend this every year. My insurance wasn't paying for it, so I said I didn't need it. That reduced my payment by about $70. Then I was asked to pay, while I was sitting in the dental chair. Okay, first time I've ever done this, but okay. Done. Then the guy began taking x rays and placing stuff in my mouth, and in the end, he took somewhere around 40 x rays. He couldn't get them right. Sometimes he'd leave the room and sometimes he'd remain. (He's NEVER having kids, that's for sure!) He dropped stuff, changed the equipment, just took over an hour for all these x rays. Then a hygienist came in and said she would examine the bone density, and she would call out a number describing it, as she looked at each tooth. She said I'd want to hear a lot of 1's, 2's or 3's. Well, I only heard a few 3's, and all the rest were 4's, 5's and 6's. Then a doctor somewhere else (no idea where) had a video conference with me, told me what she thought of my x rays and how "Dan" (the guy taking the plethota of x rays of my head) would get together a treatment plan for me. Then Dan began putting together that plan, and after about 25 minutes, I finally walked out. It was now nearing 11 am, and those were 3 hours of my life I'll never get back. There is NO dentist on the property. My husband has an appointment soon, and I tried to call and cancel it, but they don't answer the phone and the voice mail is full. Unprofessional is SUCH an understatement. Run, don't walk, run, the other direction!! Avoid, as I know they were looking to get in my wallet! read more

I recently moved here a month ago and this is the first dentist place I gave a chance and was kind of scared because of previous experience but these ladies was amazing from when I walked in the office to taking me as soon as possible and not being so rough with my fills or cleaning or poking my gums too hard. I don't understand how I can be billed for services NOT RENDERED AFTER I tried to complete the services but was turned away because the dentist was in a different city so the only way to complete the services was to drive 4 hours away. How does that make any sense when there are a two offices in the same city, practically one is down the street? Coast Dental will do you dirty. It gets even better, after I made the complaint I was given a FULL REFUND. Then two years later I am told I have to pay for the same services I was given a refund for....MAKES COMPLETE SENSE!!! I absolutely abhor this place. I do not need to go to the dentist often (just my regular cleanings and dental exams), so I stuck with this place for about a year (I would say about a total of 2-3 appointments). Each time I felt as though the dental hygenists were "selling" me products. While going over my bill prior to having any procedures done (which took about 10 seconds of their time), they glossed over an item, which they described as "part of my cleaning". Turns out to be a prescription toothpaste, which I did not need. I did not realize what I had agreed to buy, until after they had already charged my credit card. This dental office is more concerned about selling these extra products on the side than actual dental care. When I finally changed dentists, my new hygenist was appalled by what a poor job my previous hygenist had done with my teeth. She asked me "Did this take them 10 minutes to clean because it looks like they didn't even try". I affirmed that my last cleaning felt unusually short. I have never in my life had a worse dental experience than at Coast Dental. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Waste of time and money. read more

Don't go to this office!!!! Let's take a step-by-step look at my first visit. First, I sit in a packed waiting room. The front desk woman was fairly nice. While waiting, she yells across the room telling someone how much she owes for her visit, and asking her if she has the money to pay today, in front of everyone else. Once they call me in, I am placed in a chair in the most FILTHY room that I have ever sat in. There is dirt all over the place, and the walls were horrendous looking. Very dirty. There was a used syringe sitting on the floor next to me. The two other chairs that the hygienists(saleswomen) use were so dirty that they looked like they came off a construction site. When you come here, you feel like they are herding people through like cattle. It is all about volume here. Immediately, upon the hygienist arriving in the room, what she is saying to me feels very much like a sales pitch. I work in marketing, and have a good radar for that stuff. She starts doing a test of my gums, and then tells me that the dentist will determine if I need a deep cleaning or not. They take X-Rays, and then the dentist comes in. He tells me I need a couple of teeth extracted(I do), and he seemed very polite and professional. Right now is about the point where I am starting to wonder when my cleaning is supposed to begin. I am escorted into the side of the front room, where I pay my $36 bill, and then they are supposed to provide me with my action plan. I learn that I am not getting a cleaning that day, and that due to their initial test performed by the hygienist(not the doctor), I am diagnosed with peridontal disease, and that I need a deep-cleaning, aka not the free cleaning. The deep cleaning costs $450!!!!!!! I inform them that I only want the free cleaning that my insurance covers, and they tell me that once I get the diagnosis I am not going to be able to get any free cleanings until I complete their action plan for my teeth. I tell them that I am not paying the bill, and here is where things start to get REALLY BAD.... They tell me sign the bottom of the bill. I ask what for, and the receptionist says "It just states that we showed this to you." I read the whole piece of paper, and it uses verbiage that sounds as if I might get stuck with the fees (the $450) if I sign it. I tell her that I don't feel comfortable signing it, and she immediately becomes unfriendly and arrogant in her demeanor towards me. I refused to sign the document and walked out. This place isn't about the patients health at all. Their focus is on sales and using deceptive tactics to take advantage of their patients. I feel terrible for anyone assigned to this facility through their HMO insurance, or anyone who has issues reading thoroughly through the documents, or lacks the ability to stand up for themselves. I'll be contacting my insurance company, and pasting this review everywhere I can. ----------- Cliffs Notes: Deceptive tactics to upcharge patients, they try to make many appointments in order to collect more fees, and this place is DIRTY. Beware!!!!!!Please don't go here I came in on Thursday about my top denture was rubbing on the top of my mouth And the dentist if that is what she is destroyed my top denture and gave me an underbite horrible horrible instead of putting a soft liner she decided to shave down the top of my denture the size is what makes my mouth fit a bite by doing that you destroy my bite and it was at 4:30 and I told them because I just left now you have to understand that we cannot understand anything I was saying to her she's not fluent exactly in English she asses you when you know She's not understanding you so they told me to come back Tuesday because that's when she's back and she will fix it in the meantime I'm supposed to be getting a new set and they never even sent the approval in yet so that was another doozy very unprofessional I might say then I get there and I tried to explain to her what you did to my mouth but I can't my dentures you destroyed my bite so now my teeth don't come together I have an overbite so I look like a pug with my bottom teeth protruding forward so she tried to do some fillings on each side it didn't work same thing so her annoying assistant CRISTINA no granted this is her assistant and says yeah she doesn't always know what she's doing and I guess she picks up her slack and she tried to do a liner because Yadira Algalar didn't want to help me because I told her she cannot cut no more and that's what happened and they trying to tell me my dentures were old no it wasn't I walked in that office with no issues I had a perfect bite no nothing just it was rubbing on the top of my gum that's it so she decided to cut it and destroyed my whole denture top proceeded to work with CRISTINA she tried to put a soft liner in and she put gauze's And it made my Bite crooked So they were going to get the manager because I wasn't happy and I was so sad so she asked to see what my mouth looked like before like I'm lying sheShe said this is on except them all and she was going to get CRISTINA to fix it me while I was there for four hours by now no one knew what they're doing over there CRISTINA never came she walked right past me as I'm crying in the waiting room and kept walking so I asked the manager what happen and she didn't know what happen either do not go to this place unprofessional They got mean people that don't care and I heard two other people complaining about what she did anded their mouth too so now I have a top denture that shifts as I smile grinding my top canine does not fit correctly falls off and that's how they left me with no help do not go to this place they treated me like garbage and I did nothing to deserve that read more
