Some of the employees are introverted and not friendly at all while Trevor is always helpful and will take me to what I need. The fastener section can be overwhelming and he helps me navigate through it. While limited in selection, prices for the most part are competitive and Ace quality usually meets my expectations.

I was told the wood I was purchasing was quality wood. That the knots wouldn't be larger than 1 1/2 inches and no knot holes. Probably 30% of the wood had large knots, knot holes, and a lot of split and damaged pieces. We managed to cut around and make all of the boards work except 2 boards. When I went to return the two boards and get a few extra I was "helped" by the rudest person I've probably ever had to deal with. From the moment I walked up to the counter he acted like I was disturbing him. He came out to the pile of boards, pointed at the ones I needed to choose from and then as he walked away said "try not to make a mess!" I have made many purchases from city lumber since I bought my home 10 years ago. I believe I have spent enough here to not be treated like a child. I don't know how this business keeps customers if this is how they treat everyone. I will drive to Portland to buy lumber before I will give this place my business again. City Lumber just lost a customer.

Trust me, it's worth walking or driving down To this shop! The store has an eclectic mix of offerings ranging from local art to vintage finds to recycled and up cycled and new items. Even some jewelry. Everything is thoughtfully curated and unique, not the typical items found in a tourist shop. Yes, there are items that will remind you of your trip to the beach but they are not in your face shouting "Beach" but more the essence of the Beach. For example, there are lots of items in turquoise, aqua and the colors of the sea. This works for me because its my favorite color, one I wear often and have touches of in every room of my house. Needless to say, this store speaks to me! The beautiful hand blown, glass nightlights feature butterflies, moons, cottages and dragonflies; they would be a great treasure to take home and remind you of your visit or a lovely gift for a friend.
