The views are great and food is pretty good. Manager and staff were very rude. They made a mistake on receiving my order which didn't come out for over an hour. When I asked about it, their was no apology and they claimed they just got the order and I was last in line and could cancel it. We stopped off at Coastal Cantina for a drink and a small bite during a shopping spree. This small outdoor bar had a beachy feel and was perfect for what we needed. We sat on bar stools that resembled wood pilings tied together, which were pretty cool looking. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the drink and food prices were very reasonable. We ordered lump crab pizzadillas. I was hesitant about it, but when the gal at the bar told me that it was her favorite item, I ordered it. Wow, it did not disappoint. The pizzadillas had a thin crust topped with cheese, lots of crab and a drizzle of a white sauce. For my drink, I had a wonderful house sangria and BF had a local lager. Nice spot right on the waterfront. Our family skipped the worry and stress of trying to make a reservation at the local restaurants. Instead we walked the waterfront and came across this place. The staff was awesome and even gave our golden retriever a bowl of water. They had great customer service and our food was ready in no time. They have several beers on tap, which is a big bonus for me. My wife enjoyed their Mahi and duck tacos. Their pork carnita burrito is excellent and honestly the best I've ever had. They also have kid selections. Our 5 yr old loved their shredded chicken and black beans. We'll definitely come back the next time we visit Duck. read more

Loved this little Gem along the boardwalk! Starting with service the wait staff went out of their way to accommodate us because it was very windy and we had a 2 month old baby with us, so that adds up to 5 stars !! Now the food from my fish tacos to my GF's Chicken tacos. And taco salad and taco bowl at the table everyone was 100% satisfied. But to be honest the queso and the guacamole were over the top perfect a little spicy and creamy. And the pitcher of ice cold beer was the icing on the tacos !!! read more

This has got to be THE best spot in the area to sit by the water, eat good food, have a good margarita and laugh with friends. I came here with friends for the first time and ordered the crab pizza...omg, it was SO good! The owner had to be the nicest, kindest, most hospitable man in the world! He was such a happy soul and he came by to check on us and laugh with us regularly. There was an awesome jazz band playing, which just added the already wonderful atmosphere. Our party showed up right before the dinner rush- we were told that the tables were first come, first serve. We had two small kids and one in the oven. As we had just sat down, another waitress came up and told us there was a list and that the group of teenagers who literally ran in in front of us were to be seated first. We told her but she didn't care. I understand if there is a list, but clearly the whole staff was not on the same page. It came off as incredibly disrespectful and rude to not serve a family of grandparents and kids who clearly there waiting first and wanted to get in and get out. Needless to say, they didn't and will not be getting our business. Doesn't seem like we are missing much because the food reviews are mediocre and the only redeeming aspect of this place is it's location. read more

They have a great spot by the sound, but the food was dismal. Chicken "fajitas" and pulled beef tasted like they came from a crockpot, and everything was overpriced. I ordered the taco salad and it was excellent, I didn't care for the dressing but the portion was huge and the airy atmosphere was wonderful. My husband ordered the fish tacos and they were light and delicious. Get the queso, skip the guacamole. It needs red onions, salt, cilantro and lime. Finally, the hostess-manager-ish? was very accommodating for being slammed, but here's the kicker: she was genuinely surprised that I let her know we were taking another table and removing our name from the waterside wait list. Why note this? Having never visited Duck, we immediately detected a very heavy new-money, douchey, snooty vibe from many patrons and some (but not all) merchants. Come on people, this is NC. Service was a bit below average even for a boardwalk bar as we had to coax a waitress to come over while they were running by all the time. Food was good and they serve chips and salsa ad lib. WATCHOUT and this is my reason for only three stars. They don't tell you this at anytime but they charge an additional 3% of your tab if you pay with your credit card vs cash. They don't tell you that. I didn't notice until I looked over the bill at home. That is unacceptable and really ticked me off. read more

I always have a decent time at coastal cantina. It is definitely a chaotic operation with no real place to check in and just picnic tables on the boardwalk but you just have to expect that atmosphere. Chips and salsa are free and salsa is very fresh. I get the mahi tacos and they are very tasty and exactly what I want. DONT get the margaritas though. They don't have a liquor license so it's wine based margaritas and all my friends said it just tasted like a yellow Gatorade. I got beer and would recommend that.
