Once I got connected with a carrier, my car made it across the country in under a week from Maryland to California with no issues. I'm a meticulous person and I made a largish purchase for a car so I even checked the carrier that he found for me, and they had sufficient miles logged and insurance on file, all of which gave me an extra peace of mind. Definitely don't recommend this. Would have assigned 0 stars if possible. I've shipped cars 5 times before and this was by far the worst experience. It had been 8 years since my last shipment so I had lost the contact to the last provider, and went with this due to Yelp reviews and being local. What a mistake. Comms were very poor. Dates came and went. It's two weeks since the pickup date with nothing. Spoke last week and was told a driver was identified and pickup would happen this weekend. Nothing. Never get a call back. Took my deposit and nothing. When thinking about though the overall price was reasonable the breakdown was wrong. Here's what happened: -I place order, am charged more than agreed on. -I try to cancel, I should be allowed to do this per the terms. By the way, this is only a few hours later, and I am placing the order a month in advance. -Henry takes that personally, and yells at me over the phone, makes it strangely personal?? -Threatens to steal my car (put a lien on it) just because I asked to cancel. -Once I threaten to call my bank, he says he'll refund me in an attempt to prevent me from calling my bank (over the phone he was very scared of me calling my bank). He does not refund me. -I call my bank and the person assures me I have an extremely strong case for being refunded. He practically begged me to not file a chargeback with my bank. Begged. If you've been scammed by him, I highly recommend calling your bank. Though, after writing this review, he will probably change that behavior because he is a highly manipulative person. Every single time I pointed out that he is scamming people or doing something wrong, he played the victim. Classic DARVO manipulation behavior. Henry belongs in a Netflix crime documentary. Shawn used to run this company, and did a good job, that's why you see all the five star reviews. He left, and ever since, Henry has been scamming people out of their money and using Chatgpt to seem more reasonable in the reviews. Please see the attached screenshots to get a sense of what he's actually like once you pay your hard earned money. Just look at the RECENT reviews, which are mostly one star. I have used Coastal twice, once in 2023 and another time in 2025 for the same route, moving CA to TX and then back. My experience in 2023 was great when Shawn worked there - delivered on time, amazing driver, super communicative but unfortunately it was not as great a couple years later. It seems like Shawn has left the company and Henry now primarily runs it and honestly for an expense that is high as shipping a car, I would recommend looking elsewhere now. I will say their pricing was still competitive compared to other places when I booked it again in 2025, but my car arrived 3-4 days later than quoted and the subcontracted company or Coastal did not keep me updated. I had airtagged my car so I could see that it was still moving, but would have appreciated some more communication. In addition, when I talked to Henry when booking this transport, he called me once and was very quick and dismissive vs Shawn was extremely kind and very happy to talk to me back and forth over what would be ideal. Their quoted pricing in their online website and email is not also not accurate now. I believe when I booked in 2023 the pricing that I was quoted online vs what I paid was accurate, but when I talked to Henry on the phone in 2025, he explained that it would be $200-300 more expensive than what was emailed because of demand, gas, etc which I think is fair...but honestly that feels like a bit of a bait and switch lol. Nevertheless I booked with Coastal again because I had such a great experience with them previously and while my car did get there, I wouldn't use them again. Also after I had already booked the transport they sent me 15+ emails with my original quote to book. I had literally already booked!! Maybe this is faulty technology but it definitely made me feel like a number in their system and not a customer. I booked transport with Coastal Car Transport on April 27 for my 2024 Honda CR-V from Los Angeles, CA to Pennsylvania. I was quoted a flat rate of $1,500 and paid a $400 deposit after being told this was a route they handled regularly and that pickup would happen around May 4-5. It is now May 21 and my vehicle still has not been transported or assigned to a driver. Every time I call, I'm told there are "no drivers going to that area," which completely contradicts what I was told before they accepted my deposit. I understand delays can happen, but taking a deposit and then failing to complete the agreed service for weeks without clear communication is unacceptable. At this point, I believe my $400 deposit should be fully refunded since the company was unable to fulfill the agreement. I would strongly encourage anyone booking auto transport to carefully verify whether the company is an actual carrier or a broker before paying a deposit. read more

I got a quote from Coastal Car Transport on the recommendation of a friend which was back on October 9th. I was told that I would be "contacted shortly". As of today which is November 5th, I have had only one very short and unhelpful text conversation with a representative from Coastal Car Transport didn't get a name or anything and was told once again "we will contact you shortly". Still waiting on a legitimate contact, however, that isn't necessary as I decided to move on to a more professional shipping company. I move in a week and there has been nothing to assure me that my order went through as processed or that my car will be picked up on time. I decided to go with another company that called me within minutes of completing my quote. They proved what a professional car shipping company actually does, unlike Coastal Car Transport that was nothing but putting my concerns on the back burner. My son joined the Navy and moved to South Carolina and we needed to ship his car to him. After checking a ton of reviews on Yelp, I submitted a quote request to Coastal directly and then to other carrier companies via the Yelp quote system. Coastal was the quickest to respond and slightly less expensive than the other carriers. Due to an electrical problem with the car to be shipped, I had to delay shipment a few weeks. Henry at Coastal was the ONLY carrier to check in with me several times after the initial quote. Not a SINGLE other carrier followed up with me after the initial quote! Anyway, the car was repaired and since Coastal has very good Yelp reviews and followed up with me, I booked with them. Henry was able to find a driver going to South Carolina fairly quickly and the transfer was scheduled. Excellent communication throughout the entire process via text and email. I read many reviews on many different transport companies. 5 stars is pretty rare from what I've seen, so obviously I was happy to find Costal Car Transport with such great reviews. Initially everything was fine. I spoke with a very friendly woman, who took down all my information and let me know that the owner would contact me later to finalize everything. Eventually Henry called to confirm pick up and drop off location. The call was followed up with an order confirmation sent on 7/11/25, that indicated that a truck would be assigned as soon as possible. The original pickup date was supposed to be 8/2...as that date was rapidly approaching and still no assigned truck, I reached out to Henry. He answered and said that he was driving and that he would call me in a couple hours when he got back to the office. He also asked to call back in 2 hours if I had not heard from him. I didn't hear back, so I called. I got the friendly woman again on the phone. She didn't know, so she said she would call me back after speaking to Henry. That never happened, so I called again the next day. It's now 5 days before pickup and I'm getting ready to leave town and need to get things in order before I leave. When I got Henry on the phone again, I was again asked to call him back...but before he hung up, he asked a few questions about the pickup date and drop off date. I could not have the vehicle delivered before 8/6 because I was going to be out of town - headed from Las Vegas to Wyoming to meet the driver to load the vehicle. We agreed that the pickup date would need to be later than 8/2 if the vehicle could not be delivered prior to 8/6. Henry said he would send over the confirmation. He did, but it was the exact same confirmation that was sent on 7/11...nothing changed, still no truck assigned. I get to Wyoming, 8/2 comes and goes and I don't hear from anyone. Fine, we agreed the date would need to be pushed. 8/3, 8/4, 8/5, go by and I still have not heard anything. 8/6 and I'm now back home in Vegas and finally get an email notifying me that a truck has been dispatched. Estimated pick up date 8/7 with an estimated drop off of 8/8. No pickup times indicated, but there is a number to call with scheduling questions. I reverse search the phone number and it comes back as MBM Cargo Inc out of Illinois. So, now I have to arrange for someone else to be there to meet the driver. I call MBM to get a rough idea of the pickup time on 8/7. I was advised by MBM that the vehicle would be picked up between 6pm and 7pm on 8/7. I asked if they would like the number to my local contact with the vehicle and the guy said to text it to him. So I did, he responded - thx...so I know he got the message. 8/7 comes and goes. I made several attempts to reach MBM again...nothing. No response, NOTHING. Is this Costal Car Transports fault...I don't know. I initiated my business with Coastal Car Transport, and I was fully aware they also act as a broker. Not my responsibility to know who's to be held accountable for this FAILURE in service. I always read reviews, and I have to say...the good ones are by far the exception and not the rule when it comes to transporting a vehicle. read more

Customer Service should be at the focus of any business, however I did not receive this. Reasonably so, I was doing my research and had to contact and get quotes from numerous businesses, so communicated with numerous of these businesses. The biggest thing that would convince me to choose a business is communication, transparency, and respect. However, through my experience with Henry, I felt pressured, disrespected, and made to feel bad about myself for wanting to do thorough searching of not only this company, but others as well. When mentioning that I was still looking and just gathering information, got the impression from Henry that I was wasting his time and the tone and attitude was very negative and unwelcoming. When I was not immediately ready to commit to this company, he just hung up, did not even ask if I had any questions or anything from me that could help me to get his business. Needless to say, I will never work with a company that disrespects their customers, so keep that in mind when looking into using this company's services. I spoke with someone from the company and I told him I would like to have my car transported on December 26th he said okay and asked me for my card number. I gave him all the information he needed he said to me see you on the 26th. No one never showed up. I had a flight to catch on the 27th which I explained this to him. Got my cars safely and ahead of schedule from Los Angeles to Seattle. Initially Henry assigned me a crazy driver who would call me at 9:30 at night to tell me about when he thought he would make it. A couple days before the pickup this driver called me and we talked logistics. I merely said I've seen semi trucks in my neighborhood and he got crazy and yelled at me, said he would not drive my cars and hung up on me. As this was an emergency as we had to vacate our house with the movers, Henry jumped on it and found me a much nicer and normal driver. (Also, recommendations for better auto transport at the bottom) The short: Henry was an absolute nightmare to deal with and ended up canceling my transport because he felt like I was "questioning him". I did ask questions lol but I thought one could do that as a customer. I thought if they got my car to my destination safely, the customer service wouldn't matter, but it was beyond customer service. Henry was downright disrespectful. Now, the long: **The only reason why this review is dated by each incident is because once I recognized how crazy Henry was, I knew I needed to document it. 11/7/23 Henry called to go over details for my car transport and I had a quick question about whether or not I could request a driver. This question was met with an argumentative retort about him having a great yelp review and how he has the competency to choose a proper driver, whether or not, it's requested. I then responded calmly with a simple, "I'm just asking a question sir." I only asked to request a driver because one person on yelp had rave reviews about a particular driver that took their car from and to the same destinations I had. But that's neither here nor there; I'm allowed to ask questions as a patron of a business. Yes, Henry called when he said he would, but to be met with such rudeness when I'm spending money is absurd. 11/9/23 1pm While I'm spending about $400 extra than most other companies, one would expect top tier customer service. Henry called back to confirm that the driver was confirmed but completely rushed me to make the payment. I'm in the middle of shopping at Walmart, don't have my card in hand and I felt completely rushed. So much so that he kept saying, "I'm ready. I'm ready. to which I wanted to reply, " Well clearly I'm not." (But I didn't because I wanted to keep cool.) Then he takes my card information and hangs up abruptly, like immediately after he took my card info. I thought the call had dropped but no, he just hung up on me. And then when I called back to see what happened, he said, "Oh, I didn't hear you respond so I hung up." Didn't even give me a chance to respond before he hung up on me... after taking my damn card information. No one wants to make a transaction with their card information over the phone with no documentation sent prior and then be hung up on. And the fact that no documentation was sent was also odd. There weren't any agreements or anything professional. He just takes my card info and hangs up. Completely unprofessional and rude. I received my order confirmation and receipt shortly thereafter via email but damn, what if I had any questions, there wasn't even a chance to ask one. I read a couple of reviews that alluded to Henry's disrespectful behavior, but I thought as long as my car makes it safely, It should be fine. Now I'm rethinking this. I for damn sure do not deserve disrespect when I'm being nothing but kind. 11/9/23 5pm After being hung up on Henry, he told me he would call me back once he's in the office. The concern I had was my estimated pick up was the 20th and I was scheduled to leave town on the 22nd, I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be any issues getting the car picked up on time and for good measure, maybe we could schedule the pick up for a bit earlier just in case. In this conversation, he took it upon himself to berate me about his superiority in the field, and that I need not question his authority. He started off by saying, "OK, what are we doing here. Do we have a problem?" And I am sitting on the phone baffled because quite frankly, I'm just taken aback that this man is spending his evening going off on a customer like this. He continued to talk about how upset he was with me questioning him, about how I have trust issues, and threatened to cancel the transport. With all this, I said, "Sir, I remember reading in the terms and conditions that I may owe $200 if I cancel. Can you confirm?" He was upset that I brought up the terms and conditions lol. Then he agrees to just send me the money back via Venmo. Says verbatim, "I'd rather you have the money now because you're moving." And then immediately hangs up. A NIGHTMARE. Shawn's the man. We bought a car in AZ and needed it shipped 1k miles to our house. Of course having so many 5 star reviews was appealing. Also the communications and getting a fast quote was important. Although not the lowest price, it was very fair. Once we decided to move forward, he was able to secure us a driver within a few hours with short notice. The driver picked up the car at the dealership. Contacted me to let me know he was on the way (2 day drive). Got a call a day before delivery and got a call when he was 1 hour away. Besides being dirty from the trip (expected), the car was delivered exactly how it should be: no issues. The driver was courteous. I took my time to inspect the car and make sure the odometer and everything was good. He had me use his phone and go through the final inspection and signature. I had a very disappointing experience with Coastal Car Transport and cannot recommend them. Initially, Shawn and Henry painted a promising picture, assuring me that they worked with top-tier carriers who took the Seattle to Los Angeles route every two days, ensuring a speedy delivery. I was provided with quotes ranging from $700 to $1000 from various car transport companies, and I chose Coastal Car Transport at $950 (higher end of the spectrum), believing their claims. All of them were being transported in 8-10 car carriers so this wasn't a premium service. Unfortunately, things took a nosedive after I made the deposit. The carrier they assigned, I-5 Transport, turned out to be incredibly discourteous and the worst customer service experience I ever had. Every interaction with them was marked by rudeness and unprofessionalism, even when my car shipment was delayed. They provided no updates or explanations for the delays and even resorted to yelling at me on the phone on multiple occasions. (While I remained respectful) I had to ask them to speak politely and still they were very rude. The experience extended to the delivery, where the driver treated my mother with disrespect, raising his voice, and demeaning her during the inspection process. This is unacceptable. He didn't give her any time to inspect, rushed her, when we know we clearly have to ensure there are no damages before we sign. This poor level of service suggests a problematic company culture, which raises questions about the positive reviews that led me to choose Coastal Car Transport in the first place. My experience left me genuinely dissatisfied with the overall service provided. Genuinely confused why there are so many positive reviews when I had such a awful experience. Shawn is no longer with the company, and he spoke much more politely and l didn't feel rushed getting off the phone after a 1 minute conversation. The following are the exchanges between his false and nonlogical claims (Henry) and my truthful responses (Customer): Henry: Customer demanded $3400. Customer: FALSE. I DID NOT demand but just responded to his question regarding how to settle these damages properly. FYI, over the phone, Henry offered me a STEAK DINNER instead. So beware, both Coastal Car Transport and JKUSA have dysfunctional insurance coverage and owners/employees. Henry: Customer's claim of damages was not factual because customer waited 2 years to give a review. Customer: FALSE. It was created in less than 2 years and even if it was so, what is wrong with the review that is created long after the incident as long as it is really true and can educate any other future potential customers. By accusing customer for false claims instead of trying to gather all evidences showed that Mr Henry as the owner has no good faith intention to help his customer. With ongoing rant and rave toward customer really shows what kind of shady businessman he is. Henry: Immediately after delivery, his agent Shawn, worked diligently to resolve these damages. Customer: FALSE. Nobody from his company worked diligently to help. At the very end, Shawn even said that he couldn't get ahold of JKUSA anymore. What an excuse to run away from financial responsibility. Henry: His agent Shawn getting $1000 from the driver to help me with the damages. Customer: FALSE. Shawn did absolutely nothing to get $1000. The idea of giving me $1000 came from Kevin (rep of JKUSA) which of course I denied because an estimate from a body shop was $3400. Henry: Shawn walked me through the process of filing a claim with JKUSA's insurance which eventually was denied. Customer: While this statement is true, but the claim was denied because JKUSA did not want to provide the informations and documentations needed by their insurance company to proceed. So what's the point of having the insurance if it does not guarantee that the unlucky customers will be reimbursed for all the damages they have caused and if you still choose to use Coastal Car Transport in the first place, there is a huge chance that your car will end up being transported by JKUSA with no protection at all. Henry: He (and his agent Shawn) both advised me to file in a small claim court. Customer: NONLOGICAL. I no longer reside in California therefore filing in a small claim court will create a lot of hassle on top of potential costs that might occur such as but not limited to loss of time at work, hotel stay, airfares, court fees, collection agency/sheriff fees to collect the judgement. At the end of the day, I might end up with only a small amount of money or maybe nothing at all even if I win at the court. Very disgraceful. they just want to wash their hands and let the customer dealing with their issues themselves. Henry : The situation was out of his hands because he said that I had waited for over a year to reach back to his company. Customer: FALSE. I actually reached out to them in just 3 days after the delivery but Shawn and his management team just provided me with a "not working " insurance from JKUSA and then they just washed their hands and asking me to deal with the issues by myself thru a small claim court. As a matter of fact, Henry himself eventually reached out to me, not to seriously take care of my issues, but because I posted a 1 star review online. Henry: Coastal Car Transport does whatever needs to be done to ensure customer satisfaction. Customer: FALSE. This company has so many empty promises that is easier said than done. Henry: He pointed out again that because I waited so long to get this taken care, there was nothing he could do. Customer: FALSE. Like I said above, it took only 3 days for me to reach out to them who provided me with no help whatsoever. A solid and reputable company should have a strong after-sales service and an exemplary customer services anytime anywhere, which in this case, Coastal Car Transport failed miserably to demonstrate . Awesome and attentive service! I provided the dates that I wanted my car to be shipped out to and Shawn did not disappoint. From California to Texas the turnaround time was four days. My car was shipped with Belavia Transport, the driver Paul was super friendly and nice. He said if I wanted any updates on his location, I could give him a call anytime. From the time he picked up my car to delivery, his service was phenomenal. FYI they will take pictures of your car before delivery and after. You get a copy of those photos instantly once they leave. Coastal Car Transports works with only the best carriers and I am glad that I picked them to help transition my move to Texas. You have the option to pick open or enclosed transport. Depending on your location and travel distances the price ranges can vary. I can only speak from my experience and the difference between enclosed and open was roughly $300-400.
