Good pizza, love the unique topping options. It's better when dining in though. The crust can get a little soggy when ordering for take out. The pasta, apps and wine list are great! Staff is always friendly. Worth wine place to go for a slightly more than casual date night.

We were in town to drop the kid off for college. My work colleague lives in Charleston and has been wanting to try this place, so off we went. 3 stars because this is like the tale of 2 different restaurants. 5 stars to the food! The pizza's were really yummy. Cooked well and that sauce is so balanced! Not too sweet, not too much acid. They are generous with the cheese as well. Order the Grandma though and thank me later. One of our party ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. He said they were the best meatballs he's had in years! Not dry, but pleasantly juicy and flavorful. 1 star for the service. Our server was certainly nice and friendly, but she was also absent for most of the meal. She didn't know the bar (when we were ordering drinks, she had to go back and ask several times about what they had - come on, Bacardi is not exotic), and we had to flag someone else down for water refills, etc. Never checked on us either, just asked if everything was OK when we got the check. I would chalk it up to a new server or something, but prior reviews have mentioned the service, and not in a good way. So a 3 it is. We would definitely go to Coastal Crust for the food, but maybe in a different location.

THE BREAD SERVICE, 10/10! That's our favorite part, you cannot go wrong with bread and delicious spreads. It's a cute little spot, our kids really enjoy their pizza and outside seating area.

    Pathetic pizza

$40 !!!! Pathetic pizza - no cheese, 2 pieces of sausage Terrible salad Never going back!

Great outdoor option for families with children, with picnic tables, running and playing space, but not great for those who DON'T want kids running around. Our drinks were forgotten about, the food came out before our drinks arrived (we were still charged for them). Pizza was not bad for the area, but was lacking flavor and crisp (very soft undercarriage). I had higher expectations, given the proper pizza oven they have. We ordered 2 pizzas and they came out about 15 minutes apart. Live music always gets us motivated to try new places, so that was a plus. But not sure I'd come back.

Thought I'd try a second piece but I couldn't finish it either. Too burnt on the bottom and not crisp at all.

I am visiting Charleston for 10 days. I had high hopes for the wood-fired pizza at Coastal Crust. There were a few patrons at the bar, which seemed cozy. And the young lady who greeted me and took my order was very nice. That's where the good stopped. The pizza was not crusty nor crispy but "floppy" when you picked it up. It was burned on the bottom, and the crust, as well, in places on the top. The top would've been okay as it was easily picked off, but the bottom being burnt made the pizza inedible for the most part. I love wood-fired, but it shouldn't taste burned and still be floppy. The meatball slices were nothing to write home about either. It sounded so good on the menu. I am disappointed. I was really looking forward to a decent pizza.

Went back again this Friday for some wine and pizza. The outside area is so nice especially for the kids and the pizza is delicious! Here's the problem... The wine pours are tiny. They barely give a half glass of wine and at $11-12 per glass, it's just not worth it. We decided to end the night with a glass inside and the pour was almost double. I suggest going inside for your wine or we can hope they read this review and train the bartender on what a proper pour in the plastic glass is!

We got a GF mushroom Bianca, it was pretty okay. Maybe like 10 mushrooms on the whole pizza. I expected and was hoping for more. Crust is a tough once it cools. Barely any toppings. I was kinda disappointed. Don't go here if you want to make a custom pizza. They don't have olives or peppers or hamburger. They only have the ingredients for the other pizzas. They're a specialty pizza place, not your average papa John's. This is a no-go for picky eaters, unless you just want cheese.... Our waiter was helpful and nice. And definitely let us in the loop of all the toppings they don't have. The seating was comfy, the decorations and flowers were cute and tables were set up.

If you're in the mood for a classic wood fired Neapolitan style pizza look no further! Coastal Crust on James Island is a great place with lots of dining space~ both indoor and out. CC offers great salads, small plates, antipasto plates, add the bread "flight" with three types of blended oil dips, pasta/ shrimp dish, chicken parmesan. Classic spaghetti and meatballs and of course the variety of pizzas will have you returning and wanting more. The ingredients are present and are all fresh and local right down to the tomatoes! I ordered the arugula salad which was wonderful-- I loved the small sides of basil pesto and whipped ricotta touches in the salad. The balsamic drizzle added a sweet taste to cut the bitter arugula ( although I love the bitterness of arugula) however I did ask for the house white balsamic vinaigrette in order to blend the salad together and moisten it a bit. I did add grilled chicken for some protein and the chicken was grilled perfectly. All in all CC will be a "go to" for me as they have proven to be consistently good and take no shortcuts with quality and presentation of their food. The Fig and Prosciutto pizza is such a different type of pie and I love that combo. As per the name of the establishment you don't have to worry about the crust crispness, it'll be there! Servers are plentiful, helpful and efficient. The kitchen aims to please so no worries....~great wines and a great selection of local craft beers are available too!!

A group of about 8 of us went out for drinks Saturday (5/2/26). We were having a great time (respectful, quiet, not causing a problem). Last call hit at 1:30 so we decided one more drink before we went our ways home. 10 mins later we're were asked to leave the courtyard and head inside - not a problem. We will finish our drinks inside. 5 minutes after that, we were asked to take our last sips and leave. 15 mins before the posted closing time. Again, we weren't causing a problem, weren't loud, weren't disruptive. This was a group of 8, most of us well into our 40s (or older). But they were telling all guests to leave at 1:45a?? Just after we bought drinks? The posted hours say they close at 2a. Not 1:45a. Most of us left half finished drinks. The large bouncer was nice enough, the tiny one in a hoodie with glasses was totally unprofessional. So beware. The Blind Tiger has what it takes to remain a Charleston institution. Their staff, might ruin that chance.

The roof top however gives off more of a college/dive bar vibe despite having a great view of the city. When we went on Monday only one bar, the downstairs one was open. Despite there being servers it didn't seem that anyone wanted to take tables so the solution was for guests to order drinks/food at the downstairs bar and bring it up to the deck themselves. While the bartender was nice, fast, and good at her job everyone else around her just didn't seem to care to provide service. The chips on the trio platter were beyond stale and since servers didn't care to serve the top deck tables were left unbussed and dirty. Not sure if this experience was a case of severe understaffing or just negligence on the management. I'd recommend going to literally any other rooftop bar for a more elevated experience where the staff actually wants to serve the guests.

Honestly, it was so difficult to choose what drink to get because I wanted to get everything on the menu.
