I was told about this pizza spot so I thought to check it out. I thought the slices were overpriced and nothing special. One topping is included in the price of the slice. Additional toppings is an up charge. The man making the pizzas was friendly. The pizza was served on the table, I wish there were plates giving as I had to wipe the table down prior to sitting. I'm not sure why this place has such a high rating but I was very disappointed. The pizza was so dry I had to ask for additional sauce. The cashier acted as if she was in shock and then the owner walked up and said well we put regular sauce on all of the pizza. I said ok, well it's dry and I want more sauce. He waved his hands in the air and said well it's .50, and I said well ok. As the three of us sat and ate our food, the owner walked over to tell us to let him know when we're done so he can take our trash out because he doesn't want the trashcan overflowed. I'm thinking to myself, I came to visit this place while on a mini vacation because I saw it had good reviews. This place is literally a whole in the wall by the city market across the street inside Rainbow Market. We had finished a ghost tour and realized we hadn't eaten. We were walking and came across Chef Karen sitting outside the Irish Pub. She recommended the place. This place is small but efficient. Not many tables. Due to my diet restrictions we only had a cheese pizza. My husband ordered a small thinking it would be like a Papa John's size but we were severely wrong. It was like a large size of the run of the mill pizza joints. We managed to finish half of it and that was way too much. We realized after the fact that you could order by the slice but even those were ginormous. A nice spot and would eat here again. FYI - it's a NO CASH place and KNOW what you want before you get up to the counter. Service is quick. We had our pizza in less than 10 minutes. read more

I got a slice with mushroom, pepperoni, and onions on it. The mushrooms were canned, the onions were raw and crunchy, and the pepperoni had no flavor. Nailed the golden slice, great ingredients, unique ambience, fast service didn't disappoint!

After a night of enjoying the beverages of the French Quarter, we decided to get a couple slices and saw that Giovanni's was the closest pizza nearby, and was $5 a slice. We get there around midnight, there is a half of a giant pepperoni pizza. We buy the slices, and we just enjoyed it! Got a good soda too. A few weeks ago I passed by, saw Pizzeria do Giovanni kind of tucked away in North Market and poked my head in, and saw them making legit New York City pizza and vowed to come back. Went back last night with the girlfriend and two of my kids, and was not disappointed by the pizza! Not only was it a true NYC pizza (I'm from there, grew up mostly on NJ, and return to NYC on a regular basis but it was massive. Price was a touch high, but really not too bad considering the size of the pizza. The sausage was crumbles, not slices, but had a ton of great Italian sweet sausage flavor. Pepperoni was great and so was the mushrooms. I liked that I was able to get a pizza with 4 different topping choices, 2 slices of each. Staff was friendly and fun. The reason this place gets four stars instead of five is, unfortunately, because of the bathrooms. They are marked as out of order but the staff says they are actually fine, which is really strange. They were not in good condition either. For a place serving food, especially good I am eating with my hands, and the staff's hands touch the food directly to make it, seeing clean, usable bathrooms is really important to me. I'm not going to lie the inside of this place seemed sketchy and in need of a deep clean, but it was consistently busy. Based on that, we just had to trust that the food would be solid. For the interior, I thought there were some interesting and cool eclectic artwork and repurposed pews for seating. Service was not the best. The pizza is good for late night though.
