there are two old sayings, "time is money" and you get what you pay for" I take all reviews with a big grain of salt. no way you can please some folks. an eye care business is like any business, at the end of the day you need to make a profit to pay your staff and operating expenses. I get it ! the actual cataract surgery only takes about 10 to 12 minutes. the cost for this very skillful surgery is minimal. so you have lots of patients to make a profit. generally when it cost less down the road, you get less of a product, a doctor with less experience, skill, training. the outcome of the surgery may be inferior. my experience with dr. piazza and his team was excellent from start to finish. there were many team members involved with my successful cataract surgery. all were polite, knowledgeable in their tasks. I am very happy with my new eyesight. I am writing this review with no glasses.(no readers). the surgery was painless, the recovery time was very quick. it has only been 48 hours since the second eye had the cataract removed and new lens installed. vision both close up and at a distance is excellent. my wife had dr. piazza perform cataract surgery on both of her eyes. her results were also excellent. she has 20/20 vision without glasses at age 69. thank you dr. piazza and your awesome team !!! b. t. hancock, maine read more

My experience with Coastal Eye Care was very positive! I didn't wait long before the exam began with the tech, who was very efficient! The doctor then came in and answered all of my questions. I was there strictly for a new lens prescription, but decided to discuss the problem of an old stye that had since hardened and remained as a large lump on my eyelid. The doctor thoroughly investigated it and agreed with me that removal of the lump (he defined it as a hordeolum) would be a good idea. I met with the friendly surgery coordinator, and it seems that the billing office must have been working simultaneously on my case, because someone suddenly appeared with the estimate of how much the excision would cost. I felt like I was in and out of my exam in no time! The surgery coordinator was able to get my excision scheduled for the very next week, and I again marveled at the professionalism, efficiency, and friendliness of every staff member I encountered! I had expected to be quite bruised and sore as a result of my procedure but due to the surgeon's skill, I needed only one dose of Tylenol and haven't felt any discomfort since! I needed to have cataract surgery in both eyes. My doctor in Bangor asked me if I would like to come here and have it done. I live close to two hours north of Ellsworth, but I agreed that I would make the extra drive to have it done. I am so glad I did. From the moment I first walked in I was greeted by such friendly and competent staff. The technicians were very professional and friendly. Dr.Piazza was wonderful. I had the first cataract removed one week and the second one the next week. The day after both surgeries I could see so much clearer! I never had any complications whatsoever. Dr. Piazza and the whole Coastal Eye Center team were far and away the best choice I could have made for cataract surgery. The staff and Dr. Piazza were not only welcoming but truly friendly and interested in me as a individual....not a number. Due to the LASIK surgery I had many years ago, my cataract surgery wasn't a simple procedure and there were no guarantees that my vision could be returned to its glasses-free state. I had cataract surgery by Lawrence Piazza, MD on the 22nd of May 2024 I was so surprised at the results, about a week later. My vision in my right eye was like 20/20. I haven't worn my glasses since. I do have to go to my eye Dr. to get a new prescription mainly because of my left eye. I plan to go back and get my other eye done in another year.
