yikes! This place is ROUGH. it's 2025 - you should have a proper protocol in place to greet customers. First issue - Why arent there prices on or near ANYTHING!? I was looking at the 70% off Plants- But I had no idea, how much they were to begin with?? And I'm talking hundreds of plants- MAYBE, a cluster of 10 plants had price tags on them. Oh and did mention that when you went inside the store, you ran into the same issues? No tags, there was not anything on the shelves. Things were clearly marked percentages off- like "40% off" .... but there was no original pricing nor was there a price of the discounted rate either. it was very frustrating to even consider making a purchase. P.S. the store also doesn't have a scanning tool online, no app, no tool for you to be able to scan it and figure it out yourself. Secondly- NO ONE at the Check out stand. FR¿ No one greeting customers - not a single employee around. I Waited near the Chicks - for 20 minute. Awaiting an employee to aid me in purchasing some... not once, did anyone even walk by... ...although their undercover loss prevention duo were absolutely near by, I honestly thought they worked there. Both turning to me to say.."Oh we don't work here." Umm okay... then why are you not shopping for anything? no carts, just wandering the next aisle over, in the chicken area (poorly following me) and then your suddenly hard in the horse items?-- riiiiiiggght. You don't work here, suuuurrre. Mmmhmm. I again waited, another 10 min - just after an announcement came over the loud speaker to inform us that store was closing in 15 min. ... still nothing ? No employees, no one helping, no one cleaning, it was odd. I fina said - I'm out. and put back the items I had picked out already, and walkned out the door. My neighbor's birthday is the 28th and I just got out of the hosiptal. I sent my wife there to pick up some subsonic lead only 22lr bullets. The salesman said he did not have subsonic ammo. The note she handed him said lead only. He sold her the most expensive copper coated bullets I have ever seen, almost 20 cents a round.My wife called back after I told her she was scamed. Well lady we do not allow returns on ammo! Just another story of a business scaming a blond woman. read more

This is the best place to go if you have a pet bunny. The big box pet shops charge an arm and a leg for what you could get at the Pharm store for a fraction of the cost! They have a good selection of flowers in the spring and summer, and they have good deals on many things that you just can't get at a regular pet store for regular pet! read more

I just called to ask questions about a product. they transferred me to that department. the dept. person answered the phone. every question I asked he would put me on hold. the last time he left me on hold for 22 minutes. Im only asking what he knows at the moment. I didn't want him to study the topic and write a research paper while im on hold. its okay to say im not sure, or I don't know, we do not expect you to know everything about every product. its okay. but don't put people on hold for 22 minutes. I've been to this location only about a dozen times so far and I have no complaints. The store is large and has lots of variety to choose from for every day needs! In January this year I had purchased a pair of Carhartt work pants that were on sale and today I had gone back in to purchase another pair they had transferred in from another location for me which was great! I had the pleasure of working with Patie, who was very nice and was very helpful in making sure I was taken care of. I really do also appreciate that Coastal F&R offers a discount on work wear for IBEW Union Members as well (every little bit helps, nowadays...)! read more

This establishment is selling ducklings to minors with no parental guidance for 10 dollars with no additional equipment to keep these poor duckling alive. The low price and lack of age requirements is cruel and is bound to lead to death/animal abuse. This establishment should emphasize animal safety instead of enabling teenage recklessness and animal cruelty. Ducklings are not a toy, and shouldnt be sold as such. read more

I've driven by this place for years but have never gone in. I haven't been able to find a decent pair of cowboy boots so thought I'd check them out. They had a nice pair of Laredos on sale for under $100 which is dirt cheap for a good pair of boots. My Justins are about 20 years old and I think they'll shred if my cobbler tries to re-sole and heel them one more time. Very happy with my purchase! Also looking for a Stetson hat and was very surprised to see that they are a distributor for them as well. I'll head over there this weekend to see if they have the model I want in my size. Girl in the glasses was rude and also made me ring up two different times because I used my union discount I got lots of clothes I wear TO WORK!! she only used the discount on one of the items. What a wonderful place to visit, they have everything and for all ages. From stuffed animals to Lumber, plumbing,apparel and boots, you name it. We go to coastal every Saturday for horse feed and all kind of things you need at the farm. We really do spend a ton of money there. However, they always have the slowest service every time. We always have to wait in line at least 20 to 30 minutes and then when we finally get helped the cashiers always have to look up something or go get something, etc. But cashiers are usually helpful and kind. Then we drive around to pick up our order for horse feed and that is a long process especially this past Saturday we were treated horrible. There is one employee I don't know his name that he is slower than the rest. He picks up our ticket never says hello...nothing. Takes him forever to get the order. This past Saturday we waited half an hour to get the feed. Then there was a guy with long hair who asked my husband if he was being helped and my husband said slowly and the guy said, that's better than nothing! Such an attitude and an unacceptable way to talk to a customer! The correct answer should have been let me check for you and see if I can help. But no, he just walked back into the store. We kept waiting and finally the slow kid came out and put the feed on the truck but usually he doesn't even put the feed on the truck and doesn't even help. Then my husband tells the guy that he didn't bring everything to us on our order. He just grumbled and went and got it. This is ridiculous and my husband got in the truck and said we are going to Wilco from now on. That's it! We have gone to Coastal for many years. I'm sure no one at Coastal will even care about this. But this extremely slow guy has to be helped the entire day if he is working there. Maybe he has some disabilities and that's fine, but put someone out there with him. He usually is by himself. Then when you put someone out to help they shouldn't talk back to the customer!!! Very unacceptable customer service. Teach these kids need to know how to talk to customers and give better service or let them go and hire someone else who can. Thanks to whomever will listen from Coastal. read more

With the closure of the (G.I.) Joe's chain, it's become hard for blue-collar workers to find, well, blue-collar work clothes. Especially those generic-ish, size LT collar shirts for the all-American Wear parts engineer, in this case that being my dad. With all my well-documented free time, I decided to be constructive today and go pick up the shirts he reserved at Coastal Farm & Ranch this afternoon. I felt VERY out of place stepping into this store with my Cubs shirt and sweatpants, because the ads for Wrangler and Carhartt were pretty prominent. I'm sure my saving grace for not being called some pejorative term was that this store is located 23 mi./39 minutes from Portland, and not somewhere in southern Oregon. Needless to say, there's plenty of cowboy/farm stuff here. But they had the work shirts. Very helpful staff in the clothing department. Not a place I'd go to window shop, or straight up buy anything, unless I needed some special work clothes. read more

Their customer service has gone downhill recently. It's hard enough to find someone to help you if it's quiet, better not bother looking if it's busy. There's one cashier who's usually there when I go and it's like he's having the worst day of his life every time. The last straw was calling them to ask about a warranty on a fence charger that had stopped working and all I was told was to come in on a quieter day later in the week. Good thing I have nice animals who don't require a working electric fence constantly. I'm finding better deals down the road so I'll just keep driving a little farther. read more

Phenomenal service by Ashley Jensen and the rest of Coastal staff. I had nothing but frustration trying to get 2 fireplaces for my new construction, with competitors. Heat n Glo forwarded my inquiry to them after a 6 week fight for even an email reply from others. In 2 weeks we had our fireplaces evaluated, quoted, selected, ordered, and delivered. You literally can not get better than we had with communication from Ashley and team. I highly recommend that you try them out instead of the competitors who don't even have courtesy to maintain contact. The prices were decent, the installation partners were fantastic, and we are very happy. We will return to Coastal for other things simply because of this experience. read more

Every single person you ask will give you a different answer which speaks directly to complete and utter mismanagement. I will never spend another dime at this steaming pile of fail. Experienced chicken owner and emergency vet tech here to tell you you should avoid buying chickens from Coastal Farm & Ranch. I purchased 15 birds yesterday afternoon and within 16 hours one became lethargic, began having bloody diarrhea, and died. A second is now also suffering from bloody diarrhea. When I returned to Coastal to pick up medicated feed for the likely case of coccidiosis, I requested a replacement for my now dead chick and was informed that there is a no return policy on (ironically) live animals. Unfortunately, the staff member continued on to say that all of the animals for sale are "healthy." When they have a sick bird, they retain it in the back, where staff nurses it and then it is returned to the sale brooder. There are two huge problems with this: 1. staff is handling sick animals and then boxing up animals from the sale brooders, exposing naive chicks to pathogens; 2. the sick animals that have been nursed are then put out to be sold, despite the fact that they are quite possibly still shedding the contagion. Both chicks and staff are vectors for disease. I do not know if this is intended to minimize profit loss or if well-intentioned people simply do not understand how communicable disease spreads. Either way... Buy somewhere else. read more

I needed horse feed so I checked the advertised price online right before making the 1 hour round trip to this store, specifically because the advertised price was less than their competitor. When I got there the shelf price was about 20% higher than the advertised price. When I asked about it, an employee informed me that the advertised price wasn't valid. I asked the assistant manager and he blamed a computer problem but wouldn't honor the advertised price. I'll be taking my business to the big blue W store that's just a little further up the road from now on. read more

I've lived in Cornelius for 2 years now and shop Wilco over Coastal because their staff is SO much better. My boyfriend really wanted me to give coastal a shot but every time I go in there I am treated like I am such a bother. I was all set to purchase a 4K gas stove from them and was given business cards of folks to call for an install. The 2 times I went in to talk to an associate about their gas stove products I was met with associates who knew little to Nothing and really had no interest in helping me. I was STILL willing to purchase it from them (local and all) but I couldn't get anyone to even give me a quote on install. Finally gave up and bought from a real fireplace store in Beaverton who handles EVERYTHING. Went in yesterday for dog food and to do some clothes shopping and the staff at the register is always SO RUDE!!!! Going back to Wilco! read more

This business has several locations near portland, but this location is one I stopped in recently. A good place to check out gun safes. They have a large selection of safes in all price ranges. You can open them up and check out the interior layout etc. I've been to some of their other locations in the past and they do have a discount or sale on these once in a while. read more

I spend quite a bit every month at Coastal for my horse and chickens. I drive all the way down to the Oregon City location from St. Johns though, the customer service there is FAR better than the other locations. It's such a difference that it's hard to believe it's the same chain. read more

Good for suburbanites, okay for backyard flocks, meh for farmers. The thing they have going for them is that they have retail hours; they're open later than the farm stores, especially on weekends. Their product selection is attractively displayed in the store, great for browsing, and they carry a wide variety, from buckets to tractor bolts. But... their prices are high for farm supplies, and their staff isn't as knowledgeable as the staff at farm stores. Which would be okay, but they'll tell you things very confidently that turn out to be wrong. It's okay to say "I don't know." It's really annoying to hear "this is everything you need" and go home to find out that there's another part you need. I can't send someone in to pick something up without a precise list, because the staff will make totally inappropriate suggestions (like salt lick blocks for camelids that can't lick). And their alfalfa hay is the absolute worst. Lately, they only carry compressed bales that turn into dust and stems. But they do have a large selection of fencing supplies on display, which is convenient when you want to look at fencing options over the weekend. read more

A great store for all your farm, garden or workwear needs. I often drive out to Coastal Farm to buy work clothes, boots, jeans, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have one of the best selections of Carhartt around. I'd like to see a little better selection of construction style work boots but they do have a lot of ranch foot ware. It's a 25 minute drive for me but well worth it. read more

My daughter is working with a horse that has problems taking a bit. Upon discovering that the old bit didn't properly fit the horse's mouth, we went shopping for a new bit. We purchased a bit and a few other items at the Cornelius location at 11:39 am on 10/18/2011. We brought the bit home and tried it out. It didn't fit the horse, so after lunch I drove the 20+ miles back to the Cornelius Coastal Farm and Ranch to return the bit and purchase a different one. I left the original bit at the counter, with tags still attached, and selected another bit. A girl followed me to the bit section, watched me select another bit, but didn't speak a word to me or offer assistance of any kind. When I went to make the exchange at the counter, the same girl refused to make the exchange stating that "all they could do was throw the returned one out because it had been in the horse's mouth and it now posed a health issue." Really? Coastal Farm and Ranch doesn't accept returns for anything that's tried on? You've got to be kidding me. Victoria Secrets allows customers to return panties for Pete's sake. There was no "Return Policy" posted in the horse tack section, and nothing stated on their website regarding their return policy. So, Coastal just permanently lost a customer. I went to Ag West Supply just around the corner at 185 W. Main Street in Hillsboro and ordered the replacement bit and bought the 3 packages of equine wormer I forgot on the earlier trip. Never again will I shop at Coastal in Cornelius. Their customer service and their employees are "trailer park" at best. read more

This place is great except for the gun counter. I always get great service from all the staff I've interacted with, apart from the gun counter. I've had the pleasure of being "helped" by two different guys back there (possibly 3, can't remember the faces). They are jerks, they make you feel like you're a burden. All answers about guns are short, no detail, no passion. They basically want you to hurry up and leave so they can get back to over loading shelves with ammo no one wants to buy. I will not buy guns or ammunition from them. If I were the manager of that store, I'd fire them. read more

I have been going to Coastal for years. I love their employees but since they've changed the method of getting grain I have become less and less happy. What used to take me about 10 minutes has now turned into a 20 minute or more ordeal. There isn't room for cars to line up and wait. NO LONGER A SATISFIED CUSTOMER Up until a month ago, we were huge fans of Coastal Farm Supply. We don't have a farm, but we do have a good sized piece of property, a dog, and lots of DIY projects. We've purchased pellet stoves & pellets, gun safes, pet stuff, work clothing, work boots, tools....you name it, at the Cornelius Coastal. I have also referred business from my employer to Coastal. A huge part of the success of Coastal was the excellent customer service provided by their former Manager, Caesar, who was recently let go. (tune in to area gossip for the lame reason) Caesar always took the time to ensure we were satisfied with our purchase. When we encountered a problem, he made sure our needs were met, on our schedule. He arranged for service calls to fit my husbands busy work schedule. Caesar even personally made a service call to our house. In addition to Caesar, there are a handful of exceptionally friendly and helpful staff working the Cornelius Coastal location. However, that excellent level of service is no longer available.....it left when Caesar was let go. (There are still a handful of excellent floor staff.) Last week we met the new Manager, Lynde, in regard to an issue that Caesar helped with in the past. Lynde's words, body language, and attitude made it perfectly clear to us that we would NOT be receiving the level of customer service we had been accustomed to with Caesar. The parts we were previously receiving under warranty will no longer be covered. She stated we needed to have a service tech out to look at the problem. (We've already done this a few times in the past.) The service representative for the issue only works Tuesdays. (Taking time off on a Tuesday is not an option for my husband at this time of year.) She made no effort to see if an alternative date could be arranged. Which was something Caesar always worked on with us in the past. So, we will no longer receive warranty parts until the service tech looks at the system. And there will be no effort made to accommodate my husband's schedule. So, I'm not exactly sure how we are to have the tech make the call. Caesar would never have let this happen. Caesar would bend over backward to make sure a rep was available on our schedule, and that parts were taken care of under warranty because the issue is a known defect with the product. (Not Coastal's fault.) Oh....as loyal, repeat customers, Caesar offered us a discount on our purchases. Lynde has indicated that Caesar's customers will no longer receive such a discount. I'm assuming her favorites will....but not Caesar's long-term customers. Regardless that we've spent a substantial amount of money in this store. Although I've heard talk...I am not clear on the reason that such an excellent Manager as Caesar would be let go. Only to be replaced by a Manager that blatantly displays her distaste for loyal customers who were treated well by Caesar. I cannot imagine this is the business model that Coastal would prefer to be recognized for. While I cannot say that Lynde was full-on rude. It's clear that our business is of very little importance to her, and that she will make no effort to see that our needs are met, or that we are satisfied with our purchases.....or our experience shopping in the store. She basically made us feel as if she couldn't care less about our business. While we remain loyal to the handful of sales staff that have treated us so well over the years, the manner in which we've been treated by Lynde has left a seriously negative impression. I can easily see us driving up the street to Wilco in the very near future. Coastal......you made a massive mistake in terminating Caesar. However, that mistake pales in comparison to the mistake of making Lynde your new Manager. read more
