This small kitchen at the back of the Coastal Seafood store may be tiny, with not much seating, but it sure is good! It's a quick service counter, and they bring your food to you. Quite a few options, including non seafood dishes. They've got soups, salads, hot and cold seafood options and is overall really delicious.

Probably the best smash burger you will ever find. Found this gem two years ago when visiting MN and had the BEST burger. Back in MN this weekend so had to pay another visit. Wow! Even better than I recall the last time. Honestly this place is a gem. Plus I picked up a few giant cooked shrimp to have on the side. Cannot recommend this place enough! It is awesome! If you find yourself in Minneapolis, don't miss this place. It is a gem! Service is great too. Everyone super nice and helpful.

    Fish and chips were fantastic!

This is THE place to get fresh seafood in the Twin Cities! We have bought oysters there several times and they are always amazing! The staff here is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - just ask if you have any questions. Be sure to check out the small restaurant in the back. The lobster roll is fantastic and so are the fish and chips!

Thought the senior discount on Tuesday included the restaurant. It doesn't. Tried the fish and chips. They were ok.

IMHO We needed to find oysters for grandpa and discovered Coastal Seafoods. When you walk through the doors, you enter a bright world of seafood offerings from fresh fish to canned sardines, condiments, breads, oyster shuckers, etc. Oh, and there is a corner cafe in the back to order specialized fish sandwiches and other yummy things. If we hadn't already eaten a big lunch, I'd have loved to order some fish 'n chips! I'm a photo hobbyist and was a visitor to the area, so I was taking pictures to share on this Yelp review. There was no issue until one young employee showed his displeasure. Sorry. If you need fresh seafood and a wide variety, get thee to Coastal Seafoods! I'm sure you'll find almost anything you need.

Coastal Seafoods is home of the best seafood in the Twin Cities without a doubt! Coastal is a restaurant and seafood market that is unparalleled in quality and selection. I have gone to the market part of it to get fish quite a number of times. I have purchased their Verlasso Salmon, King Ora Salmon, Ahi Tuna, and Crabcakes. The fish is all super fresh, super delicious, and a lot of them are even sashimi grade. I have used the salmon and tuna to make my own homemade sushi with my friends for a sushi night and it was a huge hit. I'd argue the fish here tastes way better and fresher than any of the sushi restaurants around town. Now onto the cafe, I finally had the chance to try the cafe a couple of months ago and was blown away. At the cafe, they turn a lot of the products they sell in the market side into the most delicious dishes. I decided to go with the Coastal Fish and Chips as I was really craving them after watching them post videos of making them on their Instagram. My friends got the Connecticut Style Lobster Roll. Let me just say, that may have been the best fish and chips I've ever had. The outside was crispy and flavorful, but the inside was so soft and tender. Paired with the tartar sauce, coleslaw, and fries and oh my god - you have one of the most delectable meals of all time. My friends somehow outdid me with their Connecticut style lobster roll - while I didn't get to try this, I can tell by their reactions that this was a life changing roll. By just looking at it, I can say it's one of the best, if not the best, in the Twin Cities. When (and it's when not if) I come back, I will need to try some more menu items - probably the Connecticut roll first - because everything sounded and looked absolutely phenomenal. The staff at the cafe and market are both very friendly and helpful. If you ask them to skin and debone your fish, they'll usually do it for you as well which can save a lot of time - just make sure to double check for bones because a lot of times there can be some missed sneaky ones. The cafe side is very small with just a few tables, but it wasn't too crowded when we were there and we could easily grab a table without issue. And while it was bad weather when we visited, they do have a large area outside with picnic tables that look perfect for soaking in the sun and enjoying a good lobster roll! The vibe is definitely casual, but it's extremely clean and everything in there is so pristine. Also just a fun note, but if you are planning to make sushi at home - grab some sashimi grade fish from Coastal and then head next door to United Noodles and get all of your other sushi needs (rice, nori, etc.)

Coastal seafoods is NOT just a market. They've also got food. First, their market seems great. Fresh and well chosen items. Friendly staff. Second, their food is incredible. I got the fish and chips and it truly stood out as some of the best fish and chips I've had. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Fries were also perfectly fried and seasoned. And of course great cole slaw and tartar sauce. I will be back. AMBIANCE: it's a small dining area with only a handful of tables but it is very clean and comfortable. Doesn't feel like just a "grocery store cafeteria". It's a big step up from that though it is small. PARKING: not a problem here. They've got a lot.

This place has the best lobster roll I've had in MN. That's it, that's all. Not sure what more I can say? It's simply the best lobster roll, you have to try it yourself. When I visited, there's no sit-down area; it's all to go. They have other options on their menu too, so check that out. I only go for my lobster rolls and even though the price keeps going up, I will continue going back. Always worth it.

After an unpleasant procedure at U of M clinic, being only 10 minutes away, decided to reward myself by finally trying the much-heralded Coastal Seafoods burger. It lives up to the hype. A double, but eminently eatable. All the elements held up to on-the-road noshing (a personal benchmark test.). They stayed integrated, did not slop around or crumble, and fit the hand as well as any burger I have ever tried. The flavor is wonderfully beefy, and that predominates. The other components balance and complement the meat, rather than overpower it. it is not top tier in the cities, but a very close second. Fries (chose Old Bay seasoning) were tasty, if a touch under-salted and more than a touch soft. Both personal preferences, but would have loved a few more minutes in the fryer to crisp them up rather than being limp, and the immeasurable pleasure of licking fry salt off one's fingers was denied. The fish on a stick, surprisingly for such a renowned fish monger, was the lowlight of the meal. The batter just totally overpowered the fish, which flaked and fell everywhere once the batter shell was no longer enclosing it. A neat idea, but lacking in the execution. Side note: the amount of time it takes the kitchen to kick out this treat is just perfect to allow you one circuit of Coastal Seafoods other unique and eclectic offering, check out, and be back at the register to collect your hot treasure!

Already ate the fries. 9/10. Sandwich 9/10. The coleslaw was very unique 9/10. Perfect creamy slaw for seafood.

It was one of the best pork patties I've ever had! It was soft, juicy, and tender, just the way I like it. I'm from San Francisco and I've never tasted a salted egg pork patty this good even in the Bay Area among all the great HK style / Chinese restaurants. Coming back, I told myself I must go back for the pork patty steamed rice again. Love the HK decor as well, brought back lots of childhood memories. I reviewed Shuang Cheng previously, and the last time was a bit more than a year ago. In…read morere-reading my reviews, I stand by everything I've said about the excellent consistent quality of the food, the service, and how much I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.

It was nice visiting and enjoying some of our previously go-to dishes. The soft shell crab made with golden garlic style was as delicious as I remembered, although at a much higher price now ($44+) for the dish. The seafood soup was a nice start to our meal, would have been even better if they had red vinegar. The mapo tofu and eggplant dishes that we ordered ended up being very similar in taste/sauce/seasoning but still pretty good. The service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly.
