This restaurant has great, authentic Chinese cuisine! With that being said not everything here is a hit - I've had both really great meals and really mediocre ones depending on what I ordered. I like the iPad for ordering and calling over the waiter as needed. Some of my favorites here includes the hong sue beef noodle soup, Yunnan fried flat noodles, Peking style noodles, and hong sue pork belly. My most favorite was the Beijing roasted duck - I appreciated that it includes a vegetable soup using the duck bones. The flavorful broth was a nice accompaniment for the meal! I recently tried Legendary Spice and ordered a little bit of everything .. scallion pancake, popcorn chicken, cucumber salad, crab rangoons, Tony's chicken with three chili, Szechuan green beans, fried rice, and a few other items. Everything had great flavor, but my absolute favorites were the cucumber salad and popcorn chicken. The cucumber salad was fresh, cool, and full of that perfect balance of tang and spice. The popcorn chicken was crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. The rest of the food was really good too. Generous portions, bold flavors, and everything came out hot and fresh. The fish tasted like it sat in a salt bath, and the soup-y sauce also was overly salty. I went home and put all the ingredients into boiled water. I love pickled soup with fish fillets, but not from here. I will go somewhere else to order this dish so I don't have to do so much work just to be able to eat it. The Szechuan string beans were delicious. I loved them the first time and I loved them again. They're flavorful and have a good mix of soft and crunchy textures. The pork ear was not the best I've had... the flavor is more like garlic chili oil than Sichuan peppercorn. I think it would taste so much better if it had more Sichuan peppercorn powder. Also, the slices were extremely thin and there were more fillers than actually pork ears, so it was a very expensive appetizer. We have been here before and really enjoyed it. This time was not quite as good. My partner had the stir fried beef w chili pepper rice bowl. It was quite tasty and well spiced. My dish wasn't as good. I had the braised pork with rice bowl. It did not have much spice, the pork was belly pork which had a lot of fat and tasted somewhat greasy. I upgraded to the fried rice which was bland enough that the white rice would have been just as good. The hot sour soup was pretty good and the spring roll was actually a fried egg roll. The food is outstanding. Loads of heat as you would expect, but also plenty of ma la numbing and cumin garlic flavor. They will try to sell you on their hot pot dishes, and in fairness, these are great. The variety of things in them will make you eat far more than you should. The pepper in them will make you regret them in the morning, but oh goodness are they good that night. Ok, so why four stars? Because everything is quite high priced AND the entrees are just huge. A restaurant that lacks empathy. We chose this restaurant after reading the reviews. Our target was to enjoy the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken that so many reviewers recommended. The restaurant has an iPad ordering system. I am all for technology, but with the caveat that there should always be a human in the loop. We order the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken. What arrives is a Dish with potato fries with some pieces of chicken with bones. Immediately realizing there's been some confusion, we seek clarification. Apparently they have a new dish Legendary Spice Chilli Chicken Winglet. The iPad screen doesn't show the word Winglet in full. The iPad doesn't have any description of the dish. The reaction of the restaurant, not trying to solve that issue and replace or redo our dish was not right. They said we ordered it ourselves on the Ipad so we were stuck with it and can come again another time to order what we wanted to order in the first place. Things can go wrong in the service industry. How a situation is handled can make a big difference. This experience left a bad taste for us. To avoid confusion for future customers, I would recommend changing the name of the new dish so that it doesn't resemble their marquee dish the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken. I recommend training the employees to repeat the order placed to avoid any confusion. If there's some confusion, train the employees to handle it with listening skills and empathy. The rest of the food was very tasty. Service was poor. Water glasses were not refilled. We had to ask for cutlery and utensils. I'd have loved the evening to have been better. The parking lot is quite small, especially sharing with 2 other facilities. The atmosphere when you walk in is cozy and inviting. The decorations are cute and homey while remaining authentic to the cuisine. The staff is mostly friendly, some staff members didnt smile back or say excuse me or even acknowledged anything. The waitress was nice, though she did not respond that fast when pushing "call waiter/waitress" button. She also didnt explain the concept, or how to use the tablet very well. Speaking of which, the tablets UI (User Interface) is VERY confusing at first, it took about 20 minutes to fully understand how it works, and what to do with NUMEROUS questions in between. There are so many different tabs, and options that are just thrown in your face. The tables are criminally small for how fast you can rack up dishes when it comes to using the hotpot, the waitress hardly came by to help. In fact, the whole principle is quite autonymous, you order on a tablet, you get your own drinks, you get yournown meats for the hotpot, its quite crazy. Me and another person both had the All You Can Eat Hotpot, BBQ and Dim Sum. The options are quite overwhelming at first, especially with the confusing UI, but the food was surprisingly fresh for an AYCE (All You Can Eat) style restaurant. The (very limited) spices were fresh and fragrant. The actual ingredients (IE shellfish, vegetables and fruits) were also pleasantly fresh. The beef and lamb kababs were delightful and had a very nice dry rub. The dumplings were fluffy and delicious. On the contrary, the Shu Mai were dreadful though, the center had the texture of baby food and was unpleasant to finish. The pork kababs were dreadful, they were 90% fat, so they were decent for the broth, but not to eat. If you DIDNT have the hotpot, they would have been completely inedible. Lastly, the beef noodles were not good either, that dish was lacking in flavor, and tasted more like hot water. Lastly, there are very limited selection of desserts that come with the AYCE options. There are also not a lot of classic desserts in general, mostly jelly and/or puddings. With all of that being said, if you season your broth correctly and know how to add and enhance flavors, most of the food will turn out lovely. On request we were given printed menus but I went ahead with the tablet, ordering the daily spicy bean noodle special appetizer, Sichuan green beans, and chow fun. (I know, not a Sichuan dish but my friend wanted something non-spicy.) A server brought our order to the table, minus the appetizer. When I asked, he went back to the kitchen and a few minutes later came out to tell me that it wasn't available. He asked me to substitute a different day's special, but none appealed to me, so I told him just to skip it. The green beans were limp and bland. We asked for salt and chili oil, which made them better. Ironically, the chow fun was the best part of the meal, although the portion was small. When it was time to pay, I tapped the screen for our server, and when she handed us the bill, the appetizer was still on it. I had to ask to have the charge removed. Have been frequenting Legendary Spice for years. Don't let the name scare you if you aren't a fan of spice and if you love spice don't expect the standard dishes to deliver a ton of heat but ask them to spice it up. Staff has always been attentive and service is good. They have moved to an iPad ordering system which is a bit impersonal but also very efficient. Dining area is nicely decorated and clean. Be warned they have a very large menu with tons of options. We have our favorites and they never disappoint but it can take some time to find the gems. Some of our favorites: Yang Zhou fried rice is simple but so full of flavor with nice big sweet shrimp and beautifully salty sausage. Chengdu Kung Pao chicken is my quintessential Kung Pao dish with chunks of chicken and peanuts in a tongue tingling ginger and pepper sauce, no added filler. Mongolian beef tenderloin is tender and full of flavor. On our last 2 visits we have found another favorite Tony's Chicken w/ three Chilis. It's lightly breaded chicken in a sweet and peppery sauce that was delicious. Love the Uni Uni bubble tea that shares the space as well. It was once we were seated that we had trouble finding our server or having any service at all. We were seated right in front too so they couldn't miss us but they served everyone else but us. Came here to try their lunch menu. It has a good selection of lunch menu (includes a bowl of soup and a small appetizer). The list has the normal Szechuan food that we Americans come to know but the taste is authentic. We have sole fish with black bean and shrimp. Order placed using an iPad on the table. Also, the boba place, Uni Uni is located inside there! My friend and I got the 3 cup chicken ($16), Yunnan Fried Flat Noodle ($14), and Green Onion Pancake ($8). The flat noodles were super delicious! By far the tastiest thing we had that night. However, the 3 cup chicken was extremely overcooked. It was so overcooked it was practically inedible. It's cramped, filthy, and could barely house one of the species kept inside, let alone the dozens they've crammed in there.
